Nsv! Nsv!

  • I have to report what may be the first true non scale victory I've had since that day in the Old Navy dressing room 4 years ago when I pulled on my first EVER pair of size 8's (and subsequently burst into tears).

So, I found myself a job. I actually got word of it a few days ago, but only knew "for sure" yesterday. It's a great job in my industry (a rare find) and a 12 minute walk to work.

The downside? My office is above a bar/restaurant and all of my lunches are provided by the kitchen. Those poor line cooks don't even know what's about to hit them, because I'm going to drive them nuts with special orders

    ANYWAY, on to the NSV.

I've pretty much been living in sweats and workout clothes since September. This probably had something to do with my regain as I loathed wearing anyting that didn't have an elastic band.

Well, I dug out and organized all of my professional clothing- blazers, tailored pants, etc... I was terrified that nothing was going to fit since I was about 10 pounds lighter (and it all went to my butt) the last time I wore them regularly. I tried everything on. I tried on white pants.

    And it all fit!!!

I'm going to look fine next week

Feel free to throw in some NSV's of your own
  • AWESOME! You are gonna look great!
  • well mine is more of a scale victory but here goes: last time I was at my office in early January, I was above 180 on the scale, like always, and even tho I lost at home on my scale, (where I can weigh naked, first thing in the morning,) I just couldn't seem to budge the needle at work.
Today, I stepped on, clothes and all, and was about 175.
This is not an official weigh-in, but it sure was nice to see a change.
Also, will have to buy new dress pants this spring, mine are getting loose!
(there, thats a non-scale victory, except that I *hate* shopping)
  • Whoo Who! Congratulations on the new job! And the good fit
  • Congrats Jen!!
  • That's awesome Junebug, congrats! And good luck with the new job.
  • I never doubted for one second that the "end" result would/will be amazing!

You are a work in progress KIDDO....glad I am around to see it
  • SO SO wonderful!! your are on your WAY!
  • Counting Down- I'm still in awe over your wedding dress nsv. Utter awe.

I love loose dress pants You can't fool dress pants. Congrats on beating the work scale! I weigh in one scale and one scale only. My sanity calls for it.

Thank you thank you thank you! I was just gazing at my re-organzed closet just now, dreaming about all the different clothes I get to wear next week. I missed dressing up.

I'm learning that- we are all works in progress. When I hit the end of the journey, I'll let you know! Thanks for the support, Gary!

Thank you! Look who's almost at goal
  • Oh Jen, that's WONDERFUL news!!!!! On those outfits still fitting you (yay!!!) and the incredible sounding job!!!! You make sure you pester that restaurant staff as much as need be. We want you STAYING in all those gorgeous (non-sweats) professional clothing - you professional you.

  • Congratulations!!! Thats a double bonus really, cause now you get to wear the clothes you already own and love and you dont have to worry about buying a whole new wardrobe. I on the other hand will be in deep kaka when I get that "dream job" my DH keeps telling me will come around, because I have absolutely no clothes that fit that arent workout clothes, and I loathe shopping. Oh well, guess I will have to get over it when the time comes.

It was a slow build for me. My last job was the first "post college" job and I had nothing, so it was kahkis and a few tops at first. Also, that's awesome if your clothes don't fit because they're falling off

    Thank you Robin

I'm actually really nervous and putting a LOT of thought into how I'm going to handle having access to restaurant food every single day. I think my "go to" will be their chicken salad with my own dressing (I hate guessing rest. dressing). I am going to apply a hard-fast rule of NO fries EVER. If I ever order a sandwich I will eat half, toss the rest and get a salad instead of fries. I will never be able to have the opportunity to get the pasta or the burger "just this once", because we all know how that goes.

I have a feeling that the "shiny new" aspect will wear off and I'll just go back to bringing food from home, which is fine with me I just need to make sure I have a plan off attack!
  • Woohoo!! Congrats!!
  • Congrats on the new job and the weight loss!
