Weight loss book- going to try it

I just bought this new weight loss book (why don't they make a book so engrossing you forget to eat while you read it? That'd be a highly effective weight loss book) and it isn't really a specific diet (other than a few tips on weight watchers) but more a book of how this woman lost a ton of weight on a whim after being fat all her life. What she said she did was she started excercising witha friend, and so that no one could make those discouraging remarks we all get ("are you sure you should be eating that on your diet?" and the like) she kept it all a secret. Its called "Secrets of a Former Fat Girl."

I am wondering if anyone else read it/tried it? I am going to try it, and figured if anyone else is we could champion each others efforts, since you are supposed to keep it on the DL around people in your life.

I've never heard of it, is it a biography? Sounds like an interesting idea. I've stopped discussing my weight loss with people, even my bf, because as soon as I eat something other than vegetables the food police comes in!

I just saw that book today on amazon.com. I saved it in my wish list.

Its half biography, half instructional.

My DH is really good about keeping mum on what eat, but I feel stupid when I tell people I am going to lose weight and I end up five pounds bigger.

I loved, loved loved that book! I read it the beginning of last year and then re-read it later in the Fall... It's really inspirational to see what she went through... not so much a diet to follow as really good ideas to follow for a real life change.

I've read it myself (copy from the library). I can't recommend it highly enough! It's a wonderful book of inspiration and motivation (not to mention tips on losing those pesky pounds!).

it just went from my wish list to my shopping cart. :)

Its easier to read because she has been there. I hate books by people who have NEVER been fat about losing weight. Or like an old trainer I had. This guy had always been in shape, a total jock and body buff, lecturing me that I should eat six small meals a day. He then said "oh, you have a day job don't you? You probably won't be able to have time to do that." Ya think?? They just don't know the struggle unless they've been there.

Sounds like a great book!

 At the day job & eating 6 times a day. I do have a day job (night job too!) and I eat 5-6 times a day. Seems like I'm always eating, but when I get a minute I eat my planned snacks.

I'm going to look for that book. :)

I have bought this book but not gotten round to reading it yet! Given the reviews for it on here, I will be starting it very soon.

Well
I recently got the book from Amazon.com. The psychological aspects of a fat girl to get herself slim and to change her attitude are well emphasized. We get a good message from the book in maintaining ourselves mentally ready to any sort of difficulties to get the things aimed at. The book discusses seven secrets to maintain slim body .Of course every secret ,in one way or the other, insists on exercise and food habits. However the secrets involve the reader more at the motivational and psychological aspects of the human rather than the things needed to lose weight.:carrot:
