We are going to market today and purchase a new fan. It is getting into the warm season and we prefer to stretch the open window and fan time because we like that much better than having it all closed up with the air conditioner running.

Looks like it is just you and me in the flower patch! *sigh*

Thanks for starting the new thread; I never think to check until I post and it hits page 2. We had our day in the park today and the weatherman goofed . . . it was cloudy and cool with just a few raindrops sprinkled in. There was a slight wind but there are trees that you could stand behind for protection. The kids had a good time participating in different activities and then we cleaned up litter and picked up fallen twigs and branches from the trees.

It does look like it is going to rain any minute now. My feet aren't webbed yet and no, I didn't know that a duck's quack wouldn't echo. Where do you find all your bits and pieces of information?

Did you find a fan on your shopping trip? I love to have to windows open . . . except when the farmers have pumped their pits and are spraying the fields. With a south wind, it gets pretty rank outside.

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

Yes JEAN we found the perfect fan. It is a small one on a high pedistal like one we used to have that wore out or got broken ~ anyway it is no more. At first all we could find were the big ones that are great for bigger rooms and houses ~ not even Wall Mart had any small ones ~ but then we went to a little hardware store on the avenue and bingo ~ just the one we wanted. The fan part is just about 15 inches across and ocilates (sp) and is great for this travel trailer.

We stopped by a road side stand and got blackberries, strawberries, seedless watermellon, pineapple and cherries. Oh am I gonna have a feast. I love fresh fruit and they know how to grow it out here (and Hawaii, and Mexico and Chili.) But they sell it all right here.

Sounds like you did a nice community service along with your picnic by grooming the place. Way to give those kids some self worth by helping out others. Haven't you learned by now those weathermen don't guess any better than we do about the weather.

I don't know where the other Flowers all are these days, but hope they are all healthy and happy.

Well, Flowers, I heard you calling for company way out here in MA. I thought I would take some time to check up on my friends in cyber space and there you were. We are almost ready to take to the road. Tomorrow we will bring my few house plants to DD#2 to care for while we are gone. I haven't planted anything outside so no need to worry about that. We may not plant much anyway this year as we are in a Phase 4 Water Ban. No outside watering and no car washing etc.

MAGGIE You sure do live in a nice part of the world. All that fresh fruit! I can hardly wait for it to become available here. The last few weeks we have had some fresh corn in the stores and it was delicious. I think we get it from Florida. I am glad to hear that the fires aren't near you.

JEAN Only a few more days!!!! That was a great project for your kids. It's good to get them out in the fresh air and to accomplish a good deed. We had a great, warm day today but the rain is due back again tomorrow and Saturday. Hope it stops for Sunday.

Another georgeous day. I am watching the resident red headed wood pecker have fun with the tree in front here. He is absoultely a hard worker.

GLORIA I needn't tell you to have a good time for I know you will regardless of what I say. The fruit always tastes better out here. When we left the state years ago that is the main thing we missed the most ~ the constant availability of fresh produce. Folks in some states don't know that it really can taste better. But what they don't miss they don't miss. It is good to be home again.

I had to remove my pinkie rings for they were falling off. I will wait till I get to goal and get all my rings resized that I am wearing.

LET THE WEEKEND BEGIN!

Today was the seniors' last day as of noon -- they had to practice the lining up, etc., for commencement this afternoon. Then they whooped and hollered as they left the building; the rest of us are glad they are gone -- it's time.

Maggie -- When we lived in Ohio, Bob swore up and down that the meat tasted different because it wasn't Iowa grown. I couldn't tell any difference but then I'm not much of a meat eater. I really missed the year around fruits and vegetables that we enjoyed in Ohio. I envy you! I didn't know there was such a thing as seedless watermelon! I will have to ask for it at the store....they probably haven't heard of it either. Momma Cat was back last night for supper and again for breakfast this morning. She was really hungry and I even got to pet her while she ate; that almost never happens. I hope the Tom cat stays away! You were smart to take off your rings before one slipped off and you didn't notice it.

Gloria -- You will have a wonderful trip! I hope you can check in while you are gone. Have fun!

I need to do some laundry as we are going up to the lake tomorrow. We will officially open the cabin for MIL who is returning next week. Bob and Jason will put in the dock and boat hoist while Amanda and I will dust and vacuum. Then we're going to check out a new restaurant for lunch!

I second that JEAN let the weekend begin. I am ready for it but it sure did come around fast again. Monday will be here so soon and my weigh in again! Incredible.

The seedless watermellon we like the best are small and round. We have been buying them for years ~ even in Tennessee. I bet they have them there in Iowa. Let me know what your green grocer department says. They are so sweet and good without those seeds. This last one even came with a nutrition label on it.

That is so neat that Mama cat let you pet her and maybe she will let you do that more often. She is so leary of humans something must have happened to her.

This campground is filling up tonight. Lots of folks are still driving in ~ they have till 10 pm then the gate is locked. They can get out but no one can get in ~ except those who park down the way and walk in and carry their stuff which is illegal but they do it anyway. They camp overnight and are gone the next day before the gate is opened. They know it is locked at 10pm and no one makes any rounds till in the morning sometime. If they are ever caught they can be charged with defrauding an inn keeper.

I feel like I am going to be stiff and sore tomorrow. I dusted and wiped down cobwebs, then wiped down the bathrooms, supervised the outside activities, and ended by watching Bob vacuum. I haven't done that much bending and stooping in one day for a long time! I told him that next year I am calling Merry Maids to come in!

I need to make a list and head for the grocery store after church tomorrow. I also want to get my flowers planted. We had a frost warning out for last night but I don't think it got that cold. The neighbor covered his tomato plants with blankets to keep them "warm".

I got to pet Momma Cat again tonight. She must have hungry kittens because she came back for seconds!

Maggie -- I suppose that your camp site will be getting busier and busier with summer just around the corner. We drive by our campgrounds and I think that some must park here all summer, and then come and go as they wish.

Good Evening, Flowers!
It's been a beautiful day here . . . a little on the cool side, but nice. After church today, we picked out flowers to plant in my pots outside.

It was the baccalaureate service for our seniors; out of 15 listed in the bulletin, only 7 were there. Sad! There was to be a reception for them after the service and each received a BIG white bath towel with their names embroidered on them in the school color. I wonder what they will do with the towels that weren't given out.

After being gone all day yesterday, I have been catching up on laundry and my usual Saturday chores.

It rained! Yep it actually rained just a little bit but enough to wash the trees and cut down the dust. Maybe we will get more. We had quite a busy weekend.

JEAN maybe they will mail those towels to the grads who didb't show up since they have their names on them. Otherwise - how bout a good car towel? Do you have any plans for an out of state vacation this year?

LOL, Maggie! I'll be we couldn't post at the same time again if we tried! Great minds think alike!

We will go to MN, for a week in June, with my dad, mom, and two sisters and their husbands. I think Beth may join us for a few days if the weather is nice. The guys will fish and the gals will shop! (make beds, cook, sweep sand . . . you get the picture!) I keep teasing for a "real" vacation where I don't have to cook; Bob says to plan it and let him know when and where. There are so many places I would like to go and not enough time to do everything. He will be gone for a week of fishing in Canada. I'm sure he will have lots to do when he returns as he is the only agent in Storm Lake right now.

Once again, CONGRATULATIONS for another losing week on your road down to thin! You are doing great!

This is the second day Momma Cat hasn't been here. The fenced yard that she goes through has been busy . . . the guy (they have cats too) has been pulling out bushes and trimming trees so I am hoping that that is what has kept her away.

Hope all who come by here are having a great OP day. This is a 24 point day for me and I am doing fine so far. Yesterday was an 18 point day and I actually had 2 points left when I went to bed to tuck under my pillow. How, did I do that? Never did it before for sure - WOW I am surprising myself daily on this walk to thin by what I can actually do and feel good doing it. I am hooked on this feeling, and high on beliveing.

JEAN sounds like you are going to have a fun summer. AH, Minnesota in the summer is nothing like it in the winter. When you go shopping get me something cute and small, O - please, O - please. I love surprises. Have a great day my friend.
