I regained 15 - 20 lbs since last summer, and I blame some of it on quitting smoking. But I blame MOST of it on me letting my stress get out of control (I started a new job in Sept.) and when my stress is out of control, my eating is out of control. Simply put, I stopped exercising and started making bad food choices again. I got complacent and put "the rest of my life" ahead of healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. So here we go again...

Aww cute doggies!! I think I gained for multiple reasons but mostly food just comforted me and I could not find anything to replace that feeling. Not even shopping lol, but that came real close!

I lost three stones and then regained it all just goes to show the lifestyle has to change as well!

I gave up too much all at once.. and so i was tired of "dieting" and wanted all my bad foods back!

This time i just cutt back gradually

Hyacinth 01-20-2009 06:53 PM

Jahjah, I did the same thing. I made drastic changes, which made for a drastic weight loss, but then I rebounded back the other direction instead of maintaining some sort of momentum. This time, I'm hoping to learn how to do it gradually, and non-obsessively.

I think it's really great that everybody remembers not to be discouraged into quitting - You just put down the fork and do better tomorrow, or today if it's early enough. I'm so glad to come back to this thread after the week I had (fast food, pizza, chinese, it was bad). I needed to remember that it's not a failure, just not a net positive, and I can get my momentum back.

Yay!

First came complacency, then came laziness. That and too much wine just made it too easy to gain back 20 pounds.

Now, in trying to re-lose those 20 pounds, I write down everything and of course plan ahead. I'm exercising 5-6 days per week. So far I've not had much progress, but I refuse to let go.

Twenty pounds sounds like good progress to me, Alinnell. Good for you!

let's see...
for me, getting lazy about exercise and eating maybe 200 calories too much every day. I'm about 15 pounds over my lowest weight and maybe 10 over where I think I look best. From my heaviest weight, I'm about 75 pounds down. Not too bad, but the regain needs to STOP! Argh!!! ;)

After losing 85 pound in 2003 my "friend" said she didn't like how I looked with the loss. Emotionally, I got caught up with that negativity and regained 33 pounds the next year. In 2008 I just kept my eye and tenacity on my goal and refused to please anyone else but me. The results are marvelous!

waking up one day to realize that OMG none of my clothes are zippering?! for me, i lost 30 pounds when i took a sales manager position at a store - running from the front to the warehouse, front to warehouse ALL DAY LONG! so when i got a desk job, my eating habits were the same (daily candy bar, dunkin donut's bagel and cream cheese for lunch!), but just the transition to sitting all day long, i gained back all 30 pounds!!!!
