This thread has successfully inspired me to go into the kitchen and fetch a slice of gouda. :p I swear, no matter how good or bad it may be for you, my life would be incomplete without cheese. :o |
IMO if oyu can enjoy it in moderation then its okay. I do like the laughing cow cheese... but if i am making pasta with cheese ot just having cheese as a snack i would WAY rather have less of the full fat cheese. Its a lifestyle change not a diet. Its all about moderation. Dont deny yourself or you will end up not wanting to do it

Just to throw something contrary out there, cheese is the number one source of saturated fat in the American diet (up to 70% of cheese is fat). There is no nutrient in cheese that you can't get in abundance elsewhere.
As far as digestion goes, cheese isn't that great either. Most food is digested and assimilated at about a 50% rate, but cheese is only digested and assimilated at about 20-30%. While cheese may not cause constipation, there is absolutely nothing in it (like fiber) that will help it pass through your system quickly. When I first contemplated giving up cheese, I was terrified (yes, terrified!), but once I managed to do it, I found I didn't miss it that much. There is some evidence that during the production of cheese, the casein in concentrated. As casein has morphine-like properties, it may not just be our imagination that we "need" that cheese! |
Half a slice of rye with a wedge of light laughing cow is like, my favourite snack right now. Yum.
