For many, not all. Well, at least calorie counting. I've lost 15 pounds without calorie counting, and many others on these boards are doing the same. But choices, definitely. I'm not sure I could have come to this place without calorie counting for a while.
I think some may not really know what Intuitive Eating is. It is not about having every food that crosses your mind. It requires close attention and honoring of hunger and satiety. Which is really very hard. I think it may not work for many, for a variety of reasons. But also think many don't really know what it is.
I personally find a number of the tools / concepts in Intuitive Eating VERY helpful, but I don't subscribe to their ideas 100%
