Is this normal?

I don't know if it happens to everyone but something quite odd has been going on lately... It seems to be for the better any way but I was curious if this has happened to anyone else.

I can't ever remember eating alot of vegetables, especially not things like eggplant or zucchini... but I'm eating all these healthy things now and in balance...

Everytime I slip and eat something that is junk ( like pizza... or something else like that )

My stomach REALLY hurts and hope this isn't too discriptive but I get the runs, and it feels like now if I eat junk I really do suffer later for it.

Is this just because the months of healthy eating my body is basically almost rejecting this food and knowing it is crap? Lol... if you know where I'm coming from I hope this makes sense.

Beautiful Ace 11-16-2008 11:12 PM

Haha I don't know for sure, but my bet is, you're about right on the reasons for it.

PhotoChick 11-16-2008 11:21 PM

Yup. Totally normal.

Most of us have found that eating too much junk, too much rich food, too much grease ... whatever ... can cause some really yucky feelings. :)

.

JulieJ08 11-16-2008 11:39 PM

LOL, I keep wishing this would happen to me ;) I mean, I may not feel great after some junk, but it's not terribly dramatic. Although, I never go really overboard with quantity anymore on anything.

Satisfaction 11-16-2008 11:45 PM

I'm not kidding it's really bad... like twice this happened only on days I've eaten some junk like pizza,etc... and I felt like if I can't get to a washroom in 5 minutes I was going to be in serious trouble, lol. Not to mention tummy pains

Beautiful Ace 11-16-2008 11:47 PM

I hope it happens to me, that will keep me away from the junk for sure! ahah

Thighs Be Gone 11-16-2008 11:53 PM

Yes. There is another website I blog on and several people there have lost hundreds of pounds. Many of them have reported throwing up after eating fast food after a few months of eating clean.

Ookpik 11-17-2008 12:17 AM

Happens to me. The stuff I used to eat regularly goes right through me now.

HVEECK 11-17-2008 01:35 AM

YES, my body does not like it when it gets junk, and it lets me know it!!! My stomach gets crampy, i feel nausiated some times, and get the runs too:o
I think my body likes the healthy stuff and now that its use to eating "right" it gets very pissed when i shove in the crap. It is a good thing, because it's just another good reason not to eat bad. :carrot:

Joybells 11-17-2008 08:29 AM

I have discovered this as well. I never dreamed I could survive without sugar and simple starch, but now I feel sick if I eat it. I can usually handle one special treat once a week, but anymore than that and my body starts having a fit! I am thankful for this, because it is better motivation in a weak moment than looking at my long-term goal.

Ufi 11-18-2008 07:15 PM

I've noticed changes, too. Even just not feeling as good physically, bloated or whatnot. I wonder if I felt like that before and just didn't notice or what?

mazza 11-19-2008 07:51 PM

This definetly happens to me. If I ever fall off the wagon and eat crap, I can't wait to start getting fruit, veggies and clean food back into me.

sweet_talker 11-19-2008 10:26 PM

I used to be a hugeeee sugar person, but now I get nauseous after small amounts of candy or chocolate. Same with fatty things like pizza and cheese buns, they really get my stomach going :stir:

AngelMae 11-20-2008 02:27 PM

I get really bloated when I eat junk food and occasionally have to make an emergency trip to the ladies room. Blah!! :)

I have switched to eating Amy's organic pizzas. They are really good and not loaded with fat and cals. They definitely sit better than take out pizza!

kestrel 11-21-2008 03:01 AM

That happened to me today. We were out running errands and, thanks to crappy planning on my part, ended up at a fast food restaurant for lunch. :o It tasted crappy and then within half an hour I ended up with stomach pain that lasted through the afternoon. I used to have problems with IBS which has gotten a lot better lately, but apparently eating crap (after eating healthy for a long time) was enough to make it flare up again. Lesson learned the hard way for me, I guess.

Pandora123a 11-21-2008 07:42 AM

That's true for me too...but I think it isn't as new as I'd like to think. At my heaviest and worst eating I didn't feel great a lot of the time. I think I just took it for granted that this was "normal".

Now that I feel good most of the time I am very aware when I don't. (And very able to track it back to the indulgence I once took for granted.) Very rich or greasy foods and overeating are leading to discomfort. I'm really trying to focus on that when I'm tempted.

Thighs Be Gone 11-21-2008 07:47 AM

I eat Amy's stuff too from time to time--particularly like her ethnic dishes. They are great to use in a time pinch.

urockmom 11-21-2008 08:38 AM

Ugh! Yes, I have totally noticed a difference in what I can eat. Last week I ate a :burger: and I seriously felt physically ill for 2 days. Bloated, races to the bathroom, everything. Just makes you wonder how much stress I was putting on my system when I ate like that all the time! Yuck!

Tomato 11-21-2008 08:54 AM

I have to say that I wish fast food had the same effect on me, but it doesn't. I have been eating clean for a while but if I have a burger or something similar once in a blue moon, I don't suffer from any gastro-intestinal consequences.
In fact, I had a burger this past Sunday (and sweet potato fries) but it was in a restaurant. I originally wanted to order something healthier but everybody else went for the burger and since I was desperate to get out as soon as possible (a long drive home) I hoped that our order will arrive faster if we all ordered the same stuff.
I don't know if a restaurant burger is any better than a fast food joint burger - probably not. I enjoyed the burger and the fries and I was fine afterwards.

Extasee58865 11-21-2008 09:21 AM

Happens to me too. I eat junk now & I pay for it for two days. I'm still paying for the chinese food I ate on Tuesday. Just goes to show you how awful some of the things we didn't think twice about eating are for you.

PhotoChick 11-21-2008 10:03 AM

I think there's a big difference between most restaurant burgers and fast food burgers. I eat a burger at a restaurant every now and then. And I even make burgers at home every now and then. But when I eat a fast food burger, it's just not the same. I don't get *sick* ... but I can't finish a whole Sonic burger any more and I just can tell afterward that I've eaten something not great.

This happened to me-I gave up fried foods and hadn't eaten them in about 8 months. Then I had something fried-stomach cramps for an hour or more. My tummy just couldn't handle the grease I think.
