So what's the purpose of a sauna at the gym? I'm confused now.

I would really hate for not agreeing to be labelled drama. No one has been anything but calm and straightforward. Let's have everyone's opinions!

I think we can all agree on the following - sweat/water loss is not the same as weight loss, and wearing something to make you sweat more isn't going to influence your weight in the long run, any more than not drinking any fluids all day would influence your weight in the long run.
Personally, I'm inclined to believe that, if I treat it well, my body works just about the way it is supposed to in terms of waste elimination, through sweat or other means, and that I don't need to use outside methods to induce elimination because my body does it naturally. But we all make our own judgment on that one! |

You're not missing much! If I'm not in the right mindset it seems like a chamber of tortures. It's very rare that I can enjoy it, which is why I don't do often, maybe once a month.

Drama? Hardly. :D Just a whole bunch of people expressing their opinions and thoughts.
And yes, sauna has been around for a long time. The ancient Romans also thought that the planets revolved around the Earth and that Athena was born bursting from the forehead of Zeus. :) Doesn't make them right. Yeah, as far as the sauna thing goes - my understanding is the relaxation of muscles is the main purpose. My spa also has a steam sauna that you can go into for a few minutes before a massage and they encourage you to do so because it helps loosen you up and relax you for the actual massage part. . |
