I work out and then I.......
... find it hard to eat well. What is wrong with me? What is the point then and I know this but I am feeling hungry after the gym and I am eating the wrong things and then I am an all or nothing person. I am making myself crazy.
I know all the things I am suppose to do, eat this, eat that, exercise, :blah::blah::blah::blah:, but not consistently and I am so fed up with myself. What can I do to be more consistent and stay on track b/c now that Christmas is coming its going to be even harder with the food. I am at the gym , in aerobic class and I can't even look at myself in the mirror. I really need to get it together and I am in a vicious cycle of self hatered and I am so sad. Thanks for listening/reading |
Do you eat anything before you work out? I usually eat some nuts or granola before I work out, which seems to help.

Yeah, you really have to plan your pre and post workout food. You might want to do your own research, but in a nut shell: Pre should be a balance of carbs, fat, and protein - nuts are very good. Post should be protein and carb. Protein shake is great. Good luck!

Have some celery/apples and peanut butter before or after your workout (if before just eat a very small amount), maybe have a protein shake after your workout, those tend to fill the void for me (I have the chocolate powder which tastes pretty good). Pre-make a meal or snack before you go workout so that when you come home it's already prepared. I find that when I'm most hungry is when I crave all the foods that will hinder my progress, even things I don't normally care for, this is when my willpower is lowest. Keep a piece of fruit in your car so that when you come out of the gym you can munch on that during the ride home.
Best wishes and hang in there :) |
I agree with the protien shakes!! They are really filling! :)

i always workout and have tea almost immediately after....
works for me.... |
Yep I do the protein shake after I workout. Well, it's not really a shake but more of a scoop of protein powder in a bottle of water for the ride home. :D

I'm bad about bingeing after a workout also.
Today after my workout I tried to be good and eat a yogurt. That lasted about 30 minutes. Then I had a bowl of Kashi go lean crunch. RIGHT after that, I gave in to about a third of a bag of cheese curls. I don't know why I do this. But, I wish that I would stop it!! I've stopped chewing gum so much because my teeth were starting to get sore, but I think I need to go back to that habit. |
I personally cannot eat before a workout for at least a couple of hours, I just start to feel nauseous if I do. I usually eat grilled or baked chicken some veggies, some fruit and water. And of course I log all my calories to make sure I'm staying within my limit. That usually does the trick for me.
