Have you identified a time of day....
when you are vulnerable to snacking? I think for me it's from 4 (when my husband gets off work) until 6 (when my husband gets home) as my problem time. By identifying this time I think I'm better able to come up with activities and distractions.
So, have you identified your weakest point and time? |
3-5. After lunch, when dinner isn't coming up ahead of me, and I'm sleepy and my energy slumps.
I make sure to plan plenty of snacks for that time....healthy stuff. That way, when I get snacky, I've got something available. |
OH YEAH.... Mine is when I get home from work when my hubby is not home yet...FOR SURE. AND at night after the baby girl goes to bed and I turn on the TV. I just want to crack open a diet coke and much away on big bag of "something I should not have!" The last time my DH was deployed and I was doing weight watchers they talked alot about trigger times/situations. Mine was again, when I got home or at night when I turned on the TV. I then vowed NOT to turn on the TV at night unless there was something really special I wanted to watch. I had to be on the treadmill, my exercise ball, or doing other floor exercises while watching THAT one program. Now that he's home...not so easy....

at 4:15 when the last daycare kid goes home... I should really plan a snack for this time (but instead I came on here!)
|
Mine is more weekends or whenever my routine changes. I am quite good on a normal week day but as soon as there is a slight deviation it is like I have an excuse to go crazy.
|
For me, it's definitely at night.
During the day I am totally fine and even if I get hungry, I can handle it. When night comes, I basically get the munchies and I just want something , I've been trying to leave my last snack till that time but I am not sure if I should even be eating that late (10 PM) if I am going to bed in an hour or 2 |
Around 4 pm. That is after my afternoon snack and before dinner, and I usually start to get hungry. Time for Altoids!
|
Around 9 - 11 pm. My college cafeteria closes at 7:30, so I've eaten a good protein-packed salad by 7, but then around 10 pm creeps around and I HATE going to bed with a rumbly tummy... and I start thinking about how yummy a hot fudge sundae would be. BUT, I just nosh on a handful or two of dry-roasted peanuts and the fiber fills me up!
|
Same as many of the above people, in the mid afternoon.
|
late night, 8pm-till I go to bed. I love to eat at night.
|
It's weekends for me. I plan better and stay on a better routine during the work week. On the weekends when I'm playing with the kids in the family room/kitchen area and snacking is more tempting so I try to do activities in other parts of the house or get out of the house. Hubby is also more likely to want to go out to eat on weekends.

Mine is definitely in the afternoon (between 2-4) when I just get really tired, and get a terrible case of the munchies. I have to say no eating at all during that time.
|
After dinner. In fact I'm eating popcorn right now as my nighttime snack. If I don't plan something for while I'm working on the computer and/or watching TV, then I'll eat stuff that's not good for me.

my bad time is nights for sure. i use to have chips, cookies, ice cream, anything junky. I'm not missing it right now. If I ever have a craving for something sweet. I just grab one of those special K 100 calorie granola bars. May not be the healthiest choice but better than what i was eating.
|
Mine is between 4:15 (when I get home from work) and 5:30-6:00 (when we eat dinner. I use to practically drive myself crazy during this time, not because I'm hungry, but because I was bored, and there was food available to eat. Now I've taken to help preparing dinner in an effort to curb my boredom. It seems to work pretty well.
