Cookie craving!!

  • I'm having huge cookie craving! Any ideas about how to curb it or recipes for low cal cookies? Should I indulge and grab come at mc donalds? Help me out ladies!
  • Hi there...
I am having the same problem, only the diet I follow does not allow sugar, BUT if you are a calorie counter, try a 100 cal cookie pack, it helped me at the time, good luck!
  • Stay clear of McD's cookies, they are 5 points each for WW. If you want to bake your own look at Roni's site for her Choclate meringue cookies. Very delish, low fat and calorie friendly
  • I get cookie cravings, luckily it's pretty rare lately (although I had one last week, and I think it was triggered by stress).

When I do get one, I make sure to go for single-serving cookies (no baking, no buying a whole package), even if they are super high fat/calorie. Usually I'll get one from a bakery or coffee shop or something. One that's freshly baked from real, quality ingredients. Then it feels "worth it" to me.

I would eat the 100 calorie packs or something, but part of the cookie craving for me is the chewiness and I haven't found anything that works for that.
  • I make homemade cookies on occasion. I use a regular recipe, but I use a scoop that is 1 T to form the cookies. Depending on the recipe, cookies are between 50 and 100 calories each because they are small. I freeze the surplus so I don't eat them all at once.
  • Thanks guys! Great suggestions!
I waited it out then ate some chocolate protein pudding. It hit my sweet tooth!
    *phew*
  • there is a really fabulous sounding peanut butter cookie on fat smashers forum. I haven't made it but it's on my wow, this would be great to try list
  • I have a great recipe I came up with all myself! For choc chip cookies... I'm at work now so I don't have it with me, but I'll post it asap!
  • What do you folks think of the Kashi Cookies?

They are about 100 calories each but they are pretty good sized.

    The good.
They have a 3g fiber and 2g protein.

    The not so good.
    5g fat
    1.5 of which is saturated
    sodium 70mg
    sugar 8g.

They are expensive but they taste pretty good and seem to have some redeeming nutritional value.
  • I'm of the opinion that if you have a building craving (not a passing, gee-that-sounds-good moment) to give in early so you do less damage. I'm a huge fan of Subway sugar cookies, so in the throws of a craving I'll buy one and break it into 4 smaller pieces (one for me and each of my girls).

Question though : are you craving a cookie specifically, or something super sweet and the cookie seems to fit the bill best? Many times, our bodies will crave something sweet and really want a piece of fruit (for vitamin C or some other nutrient), but our brains are conditioned to think of candy or baked treats.

Oh yeah, if I'm craving something sweet I'll eat some applesauce or a piece of fruit or a low calorie dessert. Most fruit is sweet enough that it curbs the sweet tooth.
But boy, I just wanted to bite down into a cookie! mmm...

That was going to be my suggestion - they are sweetened with organically dehydrated cane juice which is still sugar but at least it's not over processed or full of chemicals. Other brands can end up being a trigger for me - even those 100 calorie packs - but I can eat one Kashi cookie and be satisfied and happy.
