Vitamins and Supplements

Hi. Do any of you use vitamins or herbal supplements to increase your metabolism? Which ones do you use? Do they work for you? Thank you to anyone who replies! :)

I tried an herbal weight loss pill for awhile some years ago. If you read most of these, they say "when used with a program of diet restriction and exercise." Well, duh! It's the diet restriction and exercise! :dizzy: I don't think these pills do much, if anything, to help, and you can spend your money in better ways.

I do take a once-a-day multivitamin to make sure I'm getting what I need. Sometimes I take extra C, D, and E.

Good luck!
Jay

I take a daily all-in-one vitamin for women and sometimes take omega-3. I'm trying to get into taking one or two other supplements, specifically flax seed.

I don't take anything to increase my metabolism - because really I don't think it's possible for a pill to do that (unless you're talking about amping yourself up on caffeine, which is just not a good idea). I do take a whole foods multi-vitamin every day.

My multis aren't necessarily for metabolism boost, they are formulated to be processed by your body as food (I take the Garden of Life Women's multi & the Perfect Food.) I do think these work better than my old multivitamins, perhaps I'm able to absorb them better.

I used to take a multivitamin, fish oil or flax seed oil, B-complex before I started with MRC. Now they have me taking some metabolic enhancers along with following their diet. I have to say so far they are working.

I take a Women's One A Day Weight Smart every day, which has a small amount of a caffeine/guarana blend and a green tea/cayenne blend, which I guess is intended to speed up metabolism. I've been wondering recently if I should switch to a better multi-vitamin, though, because I don't know if I'm getting everything I need from this one.

I take a similar vitamin and think I'll be switching to something else once I finish the bottle. Any idea what might be better?

I don't think there is really anything that boosts metabolism, that is, unless maybe you have a health problem and supplements might tweak it a little bit. That being said I currently take:

- B sublingual (it's a liquid and includes a bunch of b's)
- vitamin c
- calcium
- magnesium
- zinc
- selenium
- cranberry
- fish oil
- dandellion

I take a calcium/magnesium supplement as well as Omega 3 fatty acids. If I take them daily and don't forget, they REALLY seem to improve my PMS from ****. I really should add a Folic acid/Vitamin B multi, but they seem to make my face break out regardless of the brand. As far as metabolism enhancers, sadly I think the only "magic pill" is a good old fashion workout.

Protein is what increases your metabolism. Breakfast is extremely important. You won't lose weight if you don't eat proper meals with enough protein for your body weight. Coffee and water isn't going to do it, and neither are vitamins-- it's the food.

I take some extra B6 and B12 once in awhile to help give me energy. That, in turn, gets me moving more. Not sure if that actually helps my metabolism or not, though.

HealthyLiving8 is right...breakfast is a key meal.

As for vitamins, I take:

Daily Multi-vitamin
Salmon/Fish Oil

On occasion (maybe once or twice a week) I take B12, calcium magnesium, Vit E, Vit C and Green Tea Extract.

I don't take anything to boost my metabolism. I do take 3 omega-3 capsules, vitamin D, and a multi-vitamin by Super Nutrition daily. It's a food based vitamin so it absorbs better then the synthetics.

Thank you all so much for your great replies! They really helped me a lot! :)
