Skin Elasticity

This might sound really vain. But I'm terrified of getting loose skin when I drop all the weight! I'm 23 and want to shed my weight and have the healthy body image I can't remember having. I need to lose probably 125 lbs (if Ive done my kg conversion right ;)) and I know that saggy skin or scars from a tummy tuck would cause me to be just as miserable about my body then as I am now and would make me back off from meeting guys and getting, well, intimate :(

So, given that does anyone have any tips of how to reduce this from happening or any recomendations for skin lotions that firm the skin up?

Hi. :) The body images and issues after weight loss section of 3fc might interest you; there are plenty of boards on there pertaining to skin after weight loss and an extremely help FAQ about the matter in the stickies. Good luck.

I'm 20, and I've lost nearly 90 lbs and I already have loose skin with 20 lbs to go.

But at least I look better with clothes on!

Why worry about a problem that you may or may not have? I have some loose skin, but I would never, ever, ever, ever want to be 100 pounds heavier again. It doesn't show in clothes, and there is always surgery after the fact if you feel the skin bothers you.

Do *not* let the fear of loose skin be your excuse to stay 100+ pounds overweight.

Just do the best you can while losing, stay hydrated, strength train and include healthy fat in your diet.

Do not worry about saggy skin !! It may not happen to you. You are so young and your skin is very elastic. However, do not be afraid of any scarring from a tummy tuck either. I AM NOT ADVOCATING surgery, however my girlfriend had a tummy tuck after losing 100 pounds. She exercised and tightened up her tummy muscles and all they had to do is remove skin. All she has is a very fine scar just above her pubic hair line. You can not even tell. So if you every choose to go the surgery route, it will not be unslightly.

Oh really? That's comforting to know. ] I thought the scars were horrific and thick. Maybe the pics I've seen are before they have healed properly. It looked ghastly!

Anyway, I'm still at it :carrot: What will be will be... :carrot:
