Mirena and TOM

I have read a lot about people retaining water during their TOM. But I was wondering if anyone has the Mirena or any other IUD and if they still see the water weight?

With my Mirena I dont have a TOM, so I was wondering if I still might see the water weight at when my time would be or not??

TIA :)

The water retention is caused by a change in hormones. If your hormones aren't changing to give you a period, I doubt that you'd experience any sort of water retention.

I have the Mirena. I gain 3 pounds around TOM. I have gained 20 pounds since I started Mirena. Did you gain any weight? And I CAN NOT lose any weight.

I have a progestrone implant which seemed to stop the monthly hormonal water retention I used to get. So much that in over a year I never saw a single gain on the scale. However my implant recently has not been as effective and I am on additional hormones to stop persistent bleeding. Once again I have seen large fluctations (3-4 lbs) when I am taking these which subsides during the pill free week.

I also have Mirena and retain water during TOM. It's just water retention and if I can keep myself from binge eating at that time (IF!!!!), then I lose it right away once TOM passes.

I just got a replacement Mirena - so I'm going on 6 years on it. I didn't experience any difficulty with weight loss that I can attribute to Mirena. But it might have different effects on different people. I do retain water around once a month...and I still get a little wacky mood wise. But no bleeding. We'll see if I skip menopause because of it...wouldn't that be handy? :cb:
