Overcoming History
I just had a little victory I wanted to share. I was eating lunch (tasty home made vegetable soup-very filling) and I looked at my bowl, listened to my body, and tossed what was left in my bowl into the bin. I new I didn't need to finish the soup in my bowl because it was there & wouldn't keep to make it home.
I guess I should say this is a huge victory for me, coming from the "eat everything on your plate" generation. I've always cleaned my plate because it was expected, and I felt incredibly wasteful if I didn't because we didn't have much etc. etc. I feel like I've ovecome a little bit of history, and it feels good! Celebrate every victory! :carrot: |
I know exactly how you feel. I come from that kind of family too, and i never wanted to waste anything. I am able to do the right thing now and listen to my body more than i used to but i still find myself stuffing myself sometimes. Its ridiculous and it is such a good feeling to feel like you beat that feeling, like you overcame something. :bravo::cp:

Great moment! You can either waste the food or waste your hard work. Easy choice to me ;).

Awesome!
I try to listen to my body when I eat too, but it's tough! On the rare occassion I do manage to stop before clearing it all I dump salt on what's left to keep me from being tempted to pick at and finish off what I don't need. |
I struggle with this too. If I didn't eat everything on my dinner plate, it became breakfast. So, good for you!!! Old habits die hard.

Good for you, habits are so hard to break and take real, conscious effort! Congratulations! :bravo:
