5 Year Reunion

  • Alright, high school reunion veterans...I need your support!

It's been 5+ years since I've seen most of these people. The last time we saw each other I was 17 and pregnant; before I was pregnant, I was 70 pounds lighter and wearing a size 10. They were all young and gorgeous and thin...I'm afraid they still are.

I'm freaking out, considering not eating at all until the 3rd of October and exercising until my arms fall off.

Ugh! I'm so nervous to see all my old "friends" considering how much weight I've gained.
  • I couldn't help but to laugh at your no eating exercising til your arms fall off plan as I think we all have had a moment like that. As far as seeing those people if they are anything like those I went to school with the skinny good looking ones weren't so skinny and good looking anymore.

    Enjoy the reunion!
  • I didn't go to my 5 year reunion...but I DID go to my 10 year reunion. Here is what happened at my 10 year reunion:

~The girl who was voted "most popular" our senior year-beautiful blonde cheerleader-was STILL working at Arby's, the same place she worked in high school. (No, she doesn't own the place yet.)

~All of the girls who had such FABULOUS suntans from the tanning bed year round in high school (and probably all the way up to the reunion), now look like old boots. Seriously. Beef Jerky faces. At my 10 year reunion, their faces looked 10 years older than mine.

~Many of the once popular girls had the "5 kids by 4 different fathers" thing going on.

~The guy voted most popular, who was an absolute JERK in school, ended up a spiritual, hippie, vegetarian. He is now AWESOME to be around.

~The good looking football star turned into "Uncle Rico" from Napoleon Dynamite. He has nothing going on NOW...only talks about this game and that game in the past. He also has a beergut.

~Many of the cute guys are going bald.

~Many of the geeks/nerds now are attractive, and have money and good things going for them.

~The once fat girls are now thinner...and the once thin girls are now fatter.

Basically, that sums up my 10 year reunion.

This much I know is true!

I didn't know people did 5 year reunions, but I run into people from high school all the time and I can tell you that we all grow up- or are at least humbled by what we have become and what we haven't. And if they aren't humbled, you just feel very sorry for them.
  • Aphil is correct.

Don't stress about it! Just go and have fun.
  • i agree....
    everyone changes in a year....
    let alone 5....
    ul be suprised....
    go enjoy!....
  • Get your hair done, get your face done and get a new outfit. Feel good, look good, and BE GOOD!!! The clock didn't stop when your classmates graduated--they'll all be 5 years older just like you. Go and have a great time.
  • I have to agree with every single person. You just go and have a good time. I didn't go to my 5 year or my 10 year reunion. And if we have a 15..ummm...nope..already been out of school for 15 years. Good Golly!!! Where have the years gone?????? lol. But i live in a small town and i've seen alot of the people that were once "the beautiful people". Not so beautiful now and alot more humble. I think we all grow up after graduation because we get introduced to the "real" world. The "grown up" world. I think you should do like retiredone says...get a new outfit, get your hair down and a facial or something and go have a blast!!
  • I'm actually going to my 20 year reunion on the 20th of this month. I didn't go to the 5th or 10th, but I can tell you that it doesn't matter what they think of your weight. These are people from your past - and if you haven't seen them in 5 years then it sounds like you've been okay with them staying there in the past. As I looked at my yearbook from 1988(!) I couldn't remember more than half the faces - they just aren't a part of my life. I am however going to the reunion with a friend I've had since 6th grade - and because we've been friends so long she's seen me at every weight!

Bottomline - YOU care about your weight and that's why you've taken such amazing steps to become more healthy. What they think of your weight doesn't matter because you probably won't see them again for another 5 years and by then you can be as skinny as you want !!!!
