I Refuse To Call It A Failure.......

I started Fat Smash last Friday... and I just can't do it, I felt physically ill. I'm diabetic and was having dips in my blood sugar despite eating adequately and often. So its not for me... But I refuse to let this miss-step feel like a failure. I'm in the process of retraining my 'brain' to turn negatives into positives... It's very hard to try and turn all of that around... It is so automatic for me, I don't even realize I'm thinking that way... It always feels right to think that way about myself... way too automatic and comfortable... Well this was a chance to take the positive route for a change, and not put myself down so quickly... I chose to start again without guilt !!! So I'm back to counting calories, I feel better and I'll keep going...
So there guilt ! Take that !! :frypan:

Absolutely NOT a failure. :)

I do it all the time in my job - I try a new photographic technique or attempt something artistic that doesn't work. That doesn't make what I did a failure ... it means I learned something. I learned that *this* particular technique doesn't work for me. So now I have a learning opportunity - I look at myself and ask if I did it right. If I did, then I ask myself do I try to modify the technique or do I move on to something new?

Same with what you did - you tried something that didn't work the way you expected it to. So now you know. And now you move forward.

If we never tried anything new or different, we'd never grow. :)

Congrats on beating the guilt!

Good for you! Just because a plan doesn't fit you does not mean you are a failure.

From what I recall, it took Edison a few hundred tries before he got the light bulb right, but no one remembers the mistakes because the end result is so great!

I think weight loss is like a mad scientist working in his lab, tweaking things and trying them out until he (or she) gets the formula just right.

So, we are all kind of like mad scientists experimenting on ourselves. ;)

There some book at the bookstore I did a speed read of but didn't buy, it has a good summary of all of the major diets - and helps you choose what one would work best for you. I felt ill and tired on the South Beach diet so I quit that too, I get hypoglycemia and moods if I don't eat some carbs, plus I need the energy. You know FAT gives you energy, a big juicy burger when I really need to get some work done and I'm doing well! We are all different, nice thing about calorie counting is you can adjust and do what works for you, creating your own eating plan. I like that too. Calorie counting just gets so boring but it seems to work.

That's not a failure it's a lesson, you will know what not to do in the future! All you can do is try again...

many people attempt diets that dont work for some reason or another....
best thing for you to do is dont sweat over it and move on!....

A diet plan that doesn't work is not a failure, it's just not what your individuality needs. I used to go to a diet-specialist that would make an every day plan with what I should eat, all planned to the last detail. I didn't like it. I felt I had a total stranger controlling my life.

Now I count calories. And love it.

I tried Fat Smash awhile back too and when I couldn't stick to it I felt a bit like a failure for awhile. But then I realized that there was a *reason* I couldn't stick to it, and I found something else that worked for me. So nobody's a failure here! Honestly, I think Fat Smash is too restrictive anyway. I can't live without caffeine for nine days. ;)
