Second week blues - advice?

Hey everyone -

I tried doing a search on the topic, but I'm not coming up with much.

Okay, here's my thing: Two weeks ago i began doing the WW plan on my own, and i lost five pounds. Woo! But I weighed in today, and I only lost .5!! Boooo!

I didn't do anything different, but I don't get what's wrong. Could it be that I lost a lot the first week, and it's sort of evening out? Could it be that i'm due to start my TOM any second now? Is it something I said (;))?

I'm completely befuddled. Please help!

Welcome and know that yes TOM will always screw with things don't feel bad!

Some people gain as much as 7 pounds during that time! Stick with what you are doing, drink plenty of fluids and stay positive!

What you described in your post is one reason that I used to weigh myself once every two weeks or sometimes just once a month. (Now, I don't weigh myself at all). I think that a big loss is sometimes evened out by a smaller one. Weight loss is not as predictable as it may seem on paper. Also, TOM is certainly a factor as you'll retain water.

It seems like you're on the right track, though, so keep doing what you're doing.

5 pounds your first week is great! Don't sweat small losses - they add up over time :)
As long as you are following your plan, the weight will come off. Some weeks slower, some weeks faster.

When people start a new diet and exercise plan they usually have a first rush of weight loss, most of it is water weight. That's why there are all these plans that say "LOSE 7-10 POUNDS IN ONE WEEK". Because losing water weight is easy.

That and the stupid TOM. Ugh. TOM hates my scale.

I have never lost 5 lbs in a week - ever! So, be proud of yourself. In my opinion, I think it is just evening out, maybe the next week will be a good one. Having said that, a loss is still a loss, and .5 lbs is GREAT!

my weight loss has a pattern, 2 weeks of .2 or .6 or . something........then usually 2 weeks of decent weight loss. give it time, and i'm willing to bet you'll see a pattern.
