I also weigh every day, but only count Monday morning. I only update the ticker according to Monday morning. So far, my week-to-week weights have never gone up, although I usually have a zero loss week once a month. But I would change the ticker to the higher weight if my Monday weight was higher. Otherwise I would feel like I was fooling myself and on a slippery slope.
Sometimes, it's frustrating, like this week, I was 172.5 (a new low) Sunday (after being 174.5-175 for the past 2 weeks), but this morning I was 174. So, the ticker says 174. But it just is what it is; I focus more on how I'm eating and my activity, water, and good sleep. |
I move my ticker down when I hit a new low. I move it up when my weight has stayed up for a couple of days. Then it goes back down when the weight goes down. My weight bounces a lot and I'm losing slowly so I've moved it up several times through this journey.
I certainly can't remember what anyone else's ticker said yesterday or last week. So if you moved your ticker up or down, I won't know it unless you noted something in the mini-goals or goals thread. The ticker gives me a general idea of where someone is in their journey which puts some comments in perspective. Other than that, I figure my ticker is there for me mostly - to see my progress visually, to be accountable and to keep me striving for my goal. |
Wow, I wasn't expecting to come home to so many replies!
I totally understand what everyone is saying about having one official weigh in day and all that... I usually haveo ne, but right now I'm just too excitable and want to know ever single day whatd going on. I always want to brag about the losses, but hide the gains. I do actually keep track of pretty much all of them though, in my 3FC blog. I'm pretty brutally honest when I'm writing on there, which is good for me at the end of the day when i write them. It's become a habit. I don't really feel that bad about being a ticker cheater - I know it's primarily for me, and I should use it as I see fit. I just thought it was a little funny when I noticed it this morning. On a good note, I DID make myself go to the gym earlier before I had work! :D I felt better about all fo this after that, too. |
I weigh myself and measure myself every 7 to 10 days (depending on ToM)...usually if I do it more frequently I get frustrated by the yo-yo (although I did just order a new expensive scale that measures in much smaller increments in addition to a bunch of other features...not sure what I'm going to do when it arrives).
Most weeks though I can't help myself and I take a peek - and I've been disappointed because of no weight loss or even worse - weight gain. Like I said, I should know better, it only frustrates me. As for the ticker, I only record official weigh in days. |
I never move my ticker back up with the intention that I am getting right back on the wagon and losing that extra pound or two... and I do!!!
Is it possible that you indulged over the holiday weekend a little and you are just seeing the increase in weight. I know that when I have a bad couple of days, I usually don't see the increase until 2 or 3 days later. |
If I would move my ticker ever time I stepped on my scale I would go crazy lol
I move it only on my WI day and if I gained on that day I'll move it. It motivates me a lot to actually see it on my posts. If/when I have that little bit of gain I know I'll tighten up to get it back down! |
I weigh every day but set my ticker at whatever weight I'm at for the most days during any given week - some days I actually weigh a little less than what my ticker says and sometimes it's a little more but ticker reflects the average.
