I ate carrots instead

I was craving for chocolate like crazy. I went to the fridge, grabbed a Hershey's Bar and stood there for 2 mins (with the fridge open). I told myself, there is nothing good for you in that chocolate bar.I put it back and grabbed 2 carrots and 3 strawberries instead. Had them for a snack. Never before have I denied myself chocolate for carrots :) I am proud of myself.

rockinrobin 05-19-2008 09:09 PM

Way to go!!! Now that you've done it once - you know for sure that you can indeed do it - and then you can do it again - and again!!! You build confidence. This IS big stuff.

That's awesome!

And the thing is you'll NEVER regret skipping the chocolate and having carrots, you'll only be proud!

Very true. The days when I do eat my chocolate, I feel like crap while eating it and also after eating it.

With carrots, I enjoy it while eating, after eating and most of all posting about it in 3FC and seeing all the positive responses.

Yes. It felt powerful to put that down and get the carrots. Whenever I give-in and indulge, I end up feeling powerless and embaressed.

Hey, I just want to add in here, and I hope I don't offend you at all, that your daughter does not necessarily need chocolate when she gets home from daycare. She's young and it's really not the best snack. How about a sliced apple with some peanut butter? Or some yogurt with some crunchy granola type cereal in it? Or a string cheese with a pear? Grapes? Or even those baby carrots that you ate? With some other veggies - cucumber spears, brocoli florets, maybe dipped in a little chummus? Kids are really never too young to eat healthy and form good habits. :)

Hi, I wanted say congratulations on learning something HUGE and vitally important for yourself. I also wanted to suggest that you let these new lessons carry over for your daughter. The reason I say this, I gained all of my wonderful food addiction habits, from my mother back when I was a very young child - except that she always had a plate of cookies for me when I got home from kindergarten. It is never too early to learn healthy habits. Again, you are doing an awesome job and have given me inspiration. :carrot:

SUPERB!!! Here's to a lesson learned, strength gained, and confidence built. Inspiring for everyone else too!!

needtobestrong 05-20-2008 11:26 AM

Thanks to everyone for your encouraging words.

For those who suggested about my daughter eating healthy, I fully agree. She already loves her veggies and fruits (especially brocolli; Maybe she was switched by the nurse when she was born :) ). I include good portions of veggies with every meal and fruits for snacks and dessert. This is her only indulgence everyday. So, I really don't mind.
