Cravings

Hi

I was wondering how everyone copes with the cravings? I've had a bad one this evening and I got so mad at myself  I decided right i'm gonna take up my art work again and do a mosaic (takes weeks) not just one but 2! So my plan is everytime I get a huge bad craving I'll dive into my art it usually takes all my mind and often i'll forget to eat. I'm going to turn into a mad artists working all the time as if possesed haha......I' stronger then these cravings GRRRRR :dizzy:

Hey! Good for you for channeling your energy into your art! :cheer2:

Some tips:

- Be sure that your food plan is not too restrictive. Don't try to "undereat" to lose faster.

- Plan, plan, plan! If you have a snack planned before your usual craving time hits, sometimes it's easier to get through it.

- Think of weight-loss-friendly alternatives to what you crave. Some ideas: If you're craving chocolate, sometimes hot cocoa with lowfat milk and sugar substitute can take the edge off. If you want pizza, a medium pita bread with some tomato sauce on top and lowfat cheese (in a measured amount) and mushrooms, toasted in a toaster oven, can sometimes fix that (for around 200 cals). Get creative!

- If you just HAVE to have the food you crave, then limit the amount. If it's chocolate, get yourself a small square of really high quality chocolate, eat it very slowly, and enjoy it! Then be done with it.

Good luck!

Thanks Jay! I'm on a very low calorie diet (lipotrim) monitered and adminstered by my pharmacy so thats why the craving are so bad. I will be doing this for 6 weeks hopefully!

I see! Well, if you are on a medically supervised program, then you need to stay with what you're advised to do. Keep it up with the distractions and other activities!

Cravings are the worst, aren't they? I think your idea is a great one. Distractions work and you'll get a lot done in the process. I also chew mint gum or brush my teeth so food would taste nasty. Or I paint my nails so I can't prepare any food. Sometimes, I just need to get out of the house, so I take the dogs for a walk. Kills 2 birds-I get away from temptation and I get in some exercise. For some reason, when I'm done exercising, I don't want to eat off plan. Feels like it would waste the exercise. Hang in there!

I try to have a really large glass of ice water. It sometimes helps.

Yes the water helps a lot. Yesterday it was raining which makes it hard because i like to go into the garden and play with the dog and I feel happier then! I've been meaning to buy nail polish there are a lot of funky colours out at the moment. But last night in bed was the worst, I was saying when I get up i'll eat bread and then this morning I'm fine. There is def a pattern and I need to go to bed earlier!!!
