Am i Honestly Doing this right????

  • Hi all,
In my crazy crazy life i lead having 2 kids ages 4 and 18 months, and my other child who is 24 ( my fiancee) taking care of my two grandparents who live with us. (my grandmother had breast cancer surgery and now had a walker and alheimers and a grandfather who just had double knee replacements who also has a walker and we take to therapy 3x a week.) did i also mention we are getting married may 30th. AHAHAH

ANYWAY i find it TOTALLY impossible right now to do the tread mill for an hour straight. I just started breaking it up in 15 or 20 minute sessions just so i can get it in each day. I am also doing that with my weights and sit ups 25-50 at a time( whatever time permits) a few times a day.

am i going to honestly see a difference this way or do you think i am wasting my time doing it this way.. It just seems like that is the only way i can get it done.

Anyone else do it like that??? Suggestion are always welcome and taken serious i need to get this weight off..
Thank you all for all you help it is SOOO appreciated
  • I've acutally heard that it may be MORE beneficial to break your work out up during the day. I think you are doing great!
  • I honestly never knew that breaking it up like that could be better for you. I am so glad you told me that.

Has anyone else heard that before??
  • My, no wonder you're having trouble fitting in a chunk of time to exercise. Yes, indeed you are doing it right. Read this article. and congratulations on your up-coming wedding.

  • Thank you isabella for that information. i start out on the tread mill at 2.5mph and at 13minutes go to 3.5MPH at an 2.5 Incline.

I love your name that is my daughters.LOL

I pray it works. I feel like exercising right now is such a Chore. Friday i am going to Weight Watchers to Join.

Does anyone know if doing sit ups like i am doing or weights is ok and beneficial like walking on the tread mill??
  • Yes I have heard that before. There was an article in Men's Health Magazine that my bariatric doc passed on to me. Not only were shorter work outs more often, more benifical, but it showed after 90 minutes of working (a straight 90 minutes) there were very little benefits.

Also remember ANY exercise is better than none. My doc has finally pounded that into my head. If I didn't have time for 60 minutes of cardio and 30 weights I would skip my work out altogether. NOT SMART. So now even if I can only do 15 minutes I MAKE myself do those 15 minutes...and most of the time once I am going I figure out a way to squeeze in a little more gym time.
  • thanks retiredone....GOOD TO KNOW!
  • that is definally good to know.

    retiredone,
have you noticed a difference breaking it down into smaller works out. Have you still lost weight doing it that way?
  • I haven't been breaking up my workouts but I know people who do and they good success. And I'm sure as I get older I'm gonna have to break it up. lol
