Strange Odor

A few days after eating better and exercising I have started to notice a different strange smell in my urine. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a reason that I dont know about?:?:

possibly kotosis.

What is that?

I have that too, the stronger it is the more weight I seem to be losing. I read once that fat turns to liquid and is flushed through the kidneys (why it's so important to drink that water) when you're losing weight. I always assumed it was that. That's just a theory, could be way off, but I like to think of it as peeing away the pounds and it motivates me to drink my water.

peeing away the pounds? Well I think that sounds pretty great.

Im doing wonderful on my water intake *never thought I would* so far today I have had 80oz

Are you eating more veggies? Many, many vegetables have strong urine smells.

I've noticed that any change in diet or exercise habits can, well, change the bathroom experience on several levels. Nothing to be concerned about, though I don't think.

Have you eaten any asparagus lately? Because that'd do it!

Lots of veggies can contribute to scent.

I have been eating more than normal amounts of salad especially baby spinach and brocolli and brussel sprouts and edaname and tomatos

Brussel srpouts. Definitely those will affect the smell of your urine, just like asparagus will. Edamame can also do it - doesn't for me, but a friend of mine has commented that it has an effect on her.

Vegetables don't seem to have too much of that effect for me . . . but seafood (scallops, shrimp, lobster) definitely do . . . have to agree with the others that have said it is the changes in your diet that are doing it.

I've never noticed a urine smell change but I do notice a change in ...um the other way. I'm embarressed to use a public bathroom! I also have a lot of gas

OMG--the first time I ate red beets, I almost rushed to the hospital because my pee was so red! I thought something was seriously wrong. Luckily I figured out that it was the beets before an expensive emergency room visit.
