This is what I did today 7:30am small bowl of fiber one cereal with skim milk and coffee 12:30 whole grain wrap with spinach mustard and tomato 4:30 baked sweet potato, brocolli and a small piece of steak 8:30 chicken peas corn green bean I have drank about 6 16oz bottles of water and I had a shake with skim milk and banana and chocolate protein shake I also went to the gym this morning and did 20 minutes on the treadmil and 20 minutes on a bike this evening I walked back and forth to the park which is about 15 minutes one way Am I doing alright? |
Welcome Mimosa!
It looks pretty good to me except that I'd do a little more measuring of what you're eating and keep track of calories. Eating too few calories can be as bad as eating too many. You might try using one of the online sites to track your food - Fitday, daily plate, spark-people, are a few of the ones I've used and/or seen mentioned. . |
I'm with PhotoChick on the measuring and tracking. I love Fitday!
Other than that ... how did that go? Did you feel good? Did you sleep well? |
This may sound weird, but I think you're not eating quite enough--in particular, not enough protein. Try having some protein with breakfast and lunch as well as what you have for dinner. And, you can add some snacks in there--low cal snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
A few protein sources: eggs lowfat string cheese Babybel (Laughing Cow) lowfat cheese wedges other cheeses used sparingly tuna (water packed) sliced turkey breast chicken w/o the skin (boneless breast) nuts, counted out to 1 oz. You get the idea... Good luck! Jay |
Thank you so much for the advice
I am really trying to get into the habit of eating breakfast, trying to wake up earlier just to get that meal in. That is the hardest thing. I used to eat sweets daily and drink tons of pop, I am so proud of myself that I am doing so much better. I even had a birthday celebration sunday and there was birthday cake and ice cream and I didnt touch it. I know I can have things in moderation but I am not ready for that yet. I will start measuring the foods and thanks so much for those websites. |
Great job cutting out the sweets and pop, that is going to make a huge impact over time! And you passed up cake and ice cream -- congratulations on treating your body like a temple! :) Keep up the great work!

Hi Mimosa! I'm new here too! I lost about 100 pounds 13 years ago, and have been maintaining it ever since with the Zone diet.
You're off to a great start! :) I agree that you need a bit more food there, especially some more protein. Having some protein, carb, and a little fat together in each meal and snack will keep you from becoming hungry. Go for it mimosa! :carrot: |
