Prozac could be contributing to your frustrations. Paxil made me balloon up 20 lb in 4-6 weeks. When I brought this & other side effects up with my doc, he cut the dose of Paxil in half and added Wellbutrin, which counteracted the weight gain. Paxil & Prozac are pretty similar. If you're pretty sure the Prozac is partly at fault here, it may be worth talking to your doc to see if he/she can rejig your meds a bit.
It's probably a combination of the things you've mentioned that are hindering your weight loss, though. It may be worth waiting (I know, I know, it sucks) a couple more weeks to see if things even out a bit. Maybe your body is still adapting. Whatever happens...good luck!! |

I also have a doc-appt around the first of May, & I intend to grill that poor woman to death until we come up with SOMETHING... ANYTHING... to explain this strange phenomenon. You hang in there... I'll do the same... we'll hang together! |

But the medicine kept me sane ... & lord knows I needed that at the time! Eventually switched to Celexa, & then weened off... then I was able to lose weight by dieting/exercise that I had been doing all along anyway. So yeah, I do suspect that my meds may be a part of my problem. |
Aww Beach... I feel your pain...completely... Long long sad story... :) I am on Prozac too and while I haven't gained a ton...about 8 pds or so...it is making me miserable. I had to take it though and at this point I really can't afford to go off it. My DH is dealing with brain cancer and my sister & Dad just had major surgeries... I was doing well replacing bad coping mechanisms with good ones up until about Monday...this week has just been a blur of horrendous eating...and even though I have been stretching and doing yoga consistently my cardio has taken a serious nosedive...which I think is contributing to my gain as well. I am going to be 38 next month and they keep telling me I am too young for perimenopause (well except for my latest Dr. that is) but I have also read that tubal ligation can affect that as well. And my sister & Mom both started having fluctuations about my age. Well, and frankly, my periods are just way different...I know it is happening. All you can do is keep on keeping on... Don't give up...I know it doesn't seem like it but it could always get worse... You have been such an inspiration to me, I always look forward to reading your posts and I absolutely love your avatar... Stay strong...behind you all the way!
