Amazed by my collarbones!

  • It took me a long time - about 45 pounds - to notice a difference in the way my body looked after losing weight. I still have far to go with getting the squishy look to go away around my midsection and upper thighs, but I'm getting there. The thing I am still most amazed at are my collarbones. I always knew they were there, but I never really saw them until I lost about 45 pounds. Even when I weighed around what I weigh now back in college for a little while, I don't think my collarbones stuck out like they do now. They don't stick way way out like the skinny minney look (I actually don't want to look like all bones and no meat - I don't like the way that looks at all), but they do protrude a bit. Virtually every day at some point I put my hand on them, or see them in the bathroom mirror in the morning, and I'm still amazed at them - I never once thought I would be able to see my collarbones like this. I really do love it - it's just one more thing that amazes me every day about my new body. I can't wait to have more amazing moments as I get smaller!
  • Yay ^^

I find that a ton of people on 3FC comment about how they suddenly notice they have collarbones! I had never really thought about it before, but I'm looking forward to that time when they start to really show.
  • I'm still looking for mine. I just *know* they're in there somewhere!
  • I love my collarbones, I never ever was able to see my collarbones since I was fat from such a young age. Then when I got to around 240, they popped up. I tend to stare at them in the mirror now and I love them
  • I stare at mine, too. DH actually poked at them and said "wow"

I do find them to feel a bit sensitive. I feel like the slightest push will break them! And I don't feel like a fragile woman in any sense.

I am also now having the same feeling about my hip bones. I do have them!! Yay!
  • Congrats on a GREAT NSV. Isn't this journey simply thrilling?

Without a doubt my collarbones are one of the favorite things about my body. When they popped I was just ecstatic. And now they are soooo sharp. I ADORE them. Who knew that a bunch of bones could cause such pleasure?
  • That's the thing I'm looking forward to most: my collarbones!
  • I love the collarbone posts! They make me smile because they remind me of the day I got into my car after the gym one night and caught a glimpse of myself in the rearview mirror - and I had CHEEKBONES.

I remember calling a friend who had also lost quite a bit of weight and leaving a long rambling message about having cheekbones. (And now I have collarbones, too!)

Congrats. It really does help to be able to see such a dramatic difference.

  • novantfan,
I love your stats, close to mine. Congrats about your collar bones! That looks great in pictures I'm sure. I can actually feel mine. My goal is to lose the prego belly (I have never been, LOL) and my second chin. When did you lose those?
Congrats again girl, you are doing awesome
  • Congrats on finding your collarbones.
I love it now I can see mine as well and now I touch them all the time.
When I'm feeling nervous I touch them or tap them (especially since I stopped biting my nails )
YAY for everyone discovering long-lost bones!
When I lie down I love touching my hip bones as well. But when I stand up they're pretty much non-existent!!
