I don't think my 'motto' would translate well onto a t-shirt... However when I am running or working out and feeling like the "wheels on the bus are going to fall off".. I think of a friend that lost her battle with cancer and died way too young... I tell myself.. I do this... "Because I Can"...

"To fit in this world" I think would be a good one for me.

Well there are two sayings that have helped me along on this journey. One I read on a 3FC signature and it stuck with me...I am paraphrasing so if I don't get it exact forive me.
Being overweight is hard, losing weight is hard, maintaining weight is hard....Choose your battle. I tell myself that almost daily. THANKS to who ever has that in thier siggie!!
The phrase...well I can't believe I have "adopted" it. Many years ago when my son was in Boy Scouts the scout master used to say..."Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail." She said it so often I wanted to beat the woman with a tent stake!!!
Well when I started this time (dieting) I knew I had to plan. Plan what I would eat, when I would eat, how much I would eat. I had to plan my grocery store trips better so I didn't run out of fruits and veggies mid week. I had to plan and pack my lunch to bring to work so I wouldn't be tempted to go grab a burger. One night I worked late, got to the gym late, ate supper late....I wanted to go to bed. I still had to plan/pack my lunch. I tried to tell myself to do it in the morning. From out of nowhere this voice in my head said "Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail....Do you want to fail??? Are you going to give up that easily??"
Failing to plan is planning to fail. As much as I HATE that saying...it helps keep me on track!!!

Currently biggest loser is one of my favorite shows, so I have thought about this before..."Because I'm better than this"

I love Michael Pollen's quote: "Eat food. Mostly plants. Not too much."
Also, the quote in my signature from H.L. Hunt (which I stole from a blog about weight maintenance): "Decide what you want; decide what you're willing to exchange for it; establish your priorities, and go to work." It perfectly summarizes how I managed to get to my goal weight. I decided that I wanted to be thin and I wanted it bad enough to give up my old eating habits and exercise habits (or lack thereof) to be thin.
