pa that is a wonderful attachment. Congrats on your goal. I love walking in winter - I am in the country and it is so quiet. I would love to see fireworks when I was out there!!:)

I had a light bulb moment today. I always whine I hate trying to count calories - or anything for that matter. I also don't like processed food because I don't think it is that healthy, but it does have the calorie information handy as can be right there on the box. My light bulb was - processed food that controls portions and gives me the calorie count OR binging on food that I don't figure the calorie count or portions on???????:dizzy: Baby steps

I just used my "healthy" thinking to give myself a license to eat as I please while pretending to diet.

Hi everyone,

It's blustery here on Maui. Snow would be nice but that would be for top of Mauna Kea volcano on big island. I'm spending my afternoon organizing my papers. 2001 is packed away. I should be working on my taxes, but took a little break.

Last night for my reward of 5 red exercise stars, I treated myself to a night out. My sis and I picked up tacos and watched the sunset on the beach. After we went to Emelie, a subtitled french film. It was strange, but turned out cute at the end. It's about a young woman who tries to do good for others except for herself. In the end she gets the guy. My favorite part was the globe trotting lawn ornament. To encourage her dad to get out and travel, she stole his dwarf. Then sent him postcards from the dwarf globetrotting the world. I read about it once. I came home and surfed the internet and found the story.

Here we go again another week of work and exericse.

Enjoy,

Malia sitting on the beach sounds so wonderful....they just plowed my driveway (snow). Some towns north of me got 16 inches of snow yesterday - I only got about 2 or 3.

"Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do." – Pope John XXIII

The last sentence of this quote struck me. It is still possible for me to lose this weight - no matter what I did last week.

Mornin' All!!

Quick post and I'm off to bed...I'm trying someting new this week...I really need to establish some sort of routine for my sleeping and eating! 'Course, once I get going reading all the posts, I never get into bed! Any one else work nights out there? HELP!:dizzy:

Thin, I LOVED the story...I hope to always be that optimistic and grateful! Life is so much sweeter when you are NOT complaining and whining and wishing for something you don't have...and enjoying what you DO have, right here and right now. Thanks!

Lucky, how's the snow? It's SO pretty when it first falls...That quote is perfect...Of course it is still possible for you!! We tend to dwell on "blowing it again" when each day, no, each new minute is an opportunity to start again! We can do this!! If only we could get an appetite control "Laying of the Hands!" Cool story, by the way...I'm a total believer!

Grannie, how were the lamb chops? I remember eating them years ago with mint jelly...:p and NOT being impressed! Give us the scoop! Did you use ol' Georgie boy? (love mine!)

Malia...Ahhhh...sunset on the beach! Don't see it all that much, living on the East Coast... the sunrise is nice, although the taco stands aren't open that early!

Thanks to everyone that posted recipes...they all sound great!

I've really gotta go...would love to acknowledge each and everyone of you, but it takes me SO long, then I usually lose my post cuz I try to rush...maybe later, OK??

For Motivation Monday, I found this in "Simple Abundance"...

Hi everyone! WI was pretty uneventful today, I remained the same. Considering all the PB cups I ate last week, a maintain was a gift! :o

I was running all day. Had 'tax jobs' that started this week. :spin: Much more fun than 'bra jobs'. Less physical! Ummm......maybe that's NOT a good thing!!!

Anyway, that pretty much sums up my day. I need to go find something to fix for dinner. I made a beef roast in the crock pot yesterday and hubby even gave me a compliment on it! Woohoo! Mark this day on the calender! And over throwing meat in a pot, who'd have thought!!!

Mary: Good for you! You're getting your 3 accomplishments in every day. Is it making you feel any better to realize that you are REALLY getting something done???? I hope so.

LuckyLadyBug: That's really neat about your friend! I love all that stuff. Some people just really have a gift. My foster sister is pretty good at it too, however I never quit give her the satisfaction of letting her know that! :p She's not a psychic though, just a healer, preacher and all around good person. * I loved the quote from Pope John. How true! And we just have to realize that things ARE still possible. * Interesting 'light bulb moment'. Processed food vs. portion control.....ummmmm. * Silly String: about $1.99

Katrina: Sounds like you gave your hubby a real nice birthday. DH and I are going away the third week in April to our favorite B & B for a Murder Mystery Weekend. It's so much fun. * I'm glad you found the smilies because I know the codes for my favorites so I never would have found them in the Smilie section. Thanks!! Figures most of them look like they're exercising, except for the little monkey....he looks constipated!!!

p.a.: How fun to see fireworks when you were walking! That's really neat!

Baylee: Oh girl, you ARE funny! Modeling the bras at K-Mart and Walmart??? I'll have to suggest that one! They'd never sell a thing! Well, maybe......it would give people an idea of how 'supportive' they are, eh??? What I do is go in and set up the product line for them. * As far as me going anywhere, that's not going to happen either. I've been here since the beginning of this thread. I'm addicted!

Malia: How fun! Dinner on the beach! What a beautiful place you must live in!!!

I think I caught up with everyone, if not, I apologize. Where's Jen and Tina and....... I know there are a few others who haven't been here in awhile. Hope you check in soon.

Somebody asked about quotes. Mine come from a collection that I've been accumulating for about 20 years. I decided there was no reason to keep them to myself, if someone else might enjoy them too. I was in direct sales for alot of years and they always had motivational quotes around and then my first WW leader always closed his meetings with a quote. I just like them. When I'm feeling blue, I take out my journals where I have them all written down and just read on after another. It makes me feel better. :)

Gotta run and get some dinner going. Ummmm.....pasta? Chicken breast? Grilled fish??? Or.....call for pizza???? You all guess which one I'll choose.

Hi everyone...I don't have a motivational inspiration to post but I love all of yours.....I have to find one for next week. Here's my list of thankful things for the day:
1. went grocery shopping and didn't buy any high fat food.
2. have walked every nite for a week without missing.
3. DH and I were both off today...( and kids were at school)
well off to surf for a bit and then go for my walk....take care everyone have a good night.....

LuckyLadyBug 02-25-2002 06:46 PM

Kat do you do Simple Abundance...I love that book. I have done it for a year three times - to the fall and then quit for one reason or another.

Echo says anyone can and is psychic and a healer. She teaches people how to bring this out in themselves. She does the teaching now and doesn't take clients. Oh, just to get you going, she is a ghost buster too. And has the mose gorgeous son!!! (getting hot, have to go outside)

Hey everyone :)

Ok, for two days now, every time I sit down to post here, something comes up! I decided to make some time for myself and have informed everyone that I am not to be disturbed for an entire 10 minutes. We'll see what happens. ;)

Things accomplished:
1. I did a whole lot of spring cleaning today.
2. Made an kept an appointment with my youngest's counselor at school.
3. The third is about to happen. I'm trying to decide whether to start munchkin's bread baking or get out to do my walk first.

For those of you who don't know me all that well, I'm not Suzy Homemaker or anything, but my youngest is on a funky special diet without dairy or gluten. The loaves of bread run about $4 apiece for a teensy thing, so I try to make some on my own when the budget is tight.

And I just realized that I was cutting myself down there. Making bread is a cool thing!

I've been trying really hard to journal every day, and not taking off the one day a week like I used to. I'm seeing progress on my nutritional intake; fats are dropping, dietary fiber is rising, as well as my water and calcium. I'm still fighting with my scale, so it is hard to tell you if I'm losing or not. Every time I about give up on the thing it decides to work about the same for a week or two. But I can say I'm noticing my clothes are fitting better already. That is all that really matters, isn't it? Of course, if I were wearing a size 8, I wouldn't care what I weighed. And I don't mean wearing it on my pinky finger!

katrinabgood 02-25-2002 09:01 PM

hey...

I just came in from the gym! I was all set for the "low impact/sculpting" class @7, followed by "Yoga" @8...everything was falling into place, everyone else around here occupied, no one would miss me if I left, I got my water and my towel and headed on over...PUMPED! Ready to sweat! PSYCHED! Get to studio 2, big sign on the door: "Regularly scheduled classes are cancelled due to a special program for heart month!" :?: So I hit the treadmill instead and the weight machines, I dug out my exercise plan from my session with the personal trainer...last date: Nov 11! :o My bad!

So many things I want to address, but they are all yelling at me to go to bed! Sheesh! It's not like I'm cranky or hard to wake up or anything!

I won't get any peace, so I'll check back in the am...

see you then!

Grannie39074 02-25-2002 10:08 PM

Good evening all I just got in from American Legion. We ahd soup so it wasn't too bad. I like the new smileys. Hope all of you have a good night.:sheep:

Hi everyone,

I love the simple abundance book. Haven't read the whole book though.

Baylee, I award myself a red star for every workout, a blue star for 6-8oz water, and a green star for following my meal plan. My calendar shines with red and blue stars, but green is scarce.

For some reason, I had a rough day today. Very hungry. I had to take a nap after work to get some peace. I woke up and binged. Bummers. My body must be getting to some old fat. It's fighting me every step of the way. I'm disappointed but will carry on as usual.

Do any of you know of any exercises for the lower abdomen? I don't want to strain my lower back.

Goodnight,
Malia

Tomorrow is always fresh...with no mistakes in it.

LuckyLadyBug 02-26-2002 08:14 AM

Brrrr it's 3 degrees here. Is shivering an exercise? Just went out to start my car...this cold is hard to handle since we have had such a mild winter and aren't used to it.

Kat Good for you, you didn't go home and veg out when your "plan" didn't work. I am proud of you.:strong:

Andria Good for you - journaling. I still haven't done that. I know, I know....

Maila I love
Quote:

Tomorrow is always fresh...with no mistakes in it.
It makes one feel so hopeful. Everyday we get a new chance.

Here is my Tuesday Tip: (which I will try today)

Most dieters panic when they have a bad day.
They get hysterical and flip out because they think they've blown it.
Don't make the same mistake.
Just keep your cool.
And go back on your diet.
See yourself slim!
According to most gurus and psycho-babble experts,
we find it easier to do something when we can see it.
Let's take their word for it, shall we?
How to see yourself slim?
The next time you've got a spare moment, let your imagination wander and try to imagine how you'd feel if you were a perfect size 10 or 12.

Imagine getting up in the morning.
Imagine going to work.
Imagine meeting and talking to people.
Imagine how they would react to you.
Imagine returning home and slipping on a pair of skimpy jeans and sneakers.
Imagine going on a date, or going out with your partner.
Don't rush this visualization
Take your time.
Imagine how you'd feel in each situation.
Imagine what you'd wear, what you'd say.
Visualize as clearly as you can.
