Self magazine has a "Happy weight" calculator. I liked that it took lifestyle and family into account. Here is the link incase anyone is interested.

I like that one too Ella. It was just what I'd figured, about 125.

Aw gee whizz! My "happy weight" is 123.9??? I doubt I can ever reach that... I guess I'll have to be happy at some other weight.

Ok my "happy weight" is very close to my goal (my ideal, not sure I can get there goal). However, there were a couple questions I wasn't sure how to answer.

Do you have a parent or sibling that is overweight - I was adopted are they asking about genetics (I don't know) or family social history. Did it both ways, found out that I get to have an "extra" pound if I have no overweight parent or sibling.

The other question, have you recently quit smoking? I wasn't sure whether no implied that I was "still smoking". I found that a "yes" gave me an extra four pounds.

Weird.

I love the happy weight! Mine is 142.3 - which seems about right considering my original goal is 155 and I have recently come to the conclusion that I would probably end up going 10lbs beyond that. Yahoo self mag!

Wow, that Happy Weight figure was 140-144 for me which is what I had thought of too. I just reached my original goal weight this week & am still basking in the amazement of seeing the little slider on my ticker all the way to the right.

I plan to maintain my original goal of 150 for a few months at least & maybe get my body used to it's new size before I try to go lower.

p.s. Thanks for the Happy Weight link!!

I haven't changed my goal weight cuz I haven't reached it yet. I picked 140 because at one point in my 20s I was 139. I've been there and I was still curvy. I know what 140 looked like on me then. I don't know what it will look like on me now, or how long it will take me to get there. I don't focus too much on the goal at this point, I focus on the next couple of pounds. I look at my goal as something to strive towards, like my ticker turtle heading towards that pot of gold but concentrating on moving one more step forward. As I get closer (hopefully), I will reassess.

Oh, I took that Happy Weight thing and it told me 142.2. That question about "recently quit smoking?" was worded funny. I never took it up, so I could never quit, lol. Does no mean no ya never smoked or no ya never quit?

My happy weight is 139, which is really close to my current goal. My first goal was getting under 150, but I've fiddled around with it.

Well, I'm nowhere near my goal weight but I choose 150 because I want to be curvy. My 'happy' weight is between 135-138. I'm taking it a challenge at a time, 10 lbs at a time.

I originally set my goal weight at 150, as that put me within the healthy BMI range (just) but I have since realised that I have to allow for the LARGE amount of excess skin I have after losing weight, so I've set it higher. People say that I look my best at 170, but I would like to be a little lower.
