INNER PEACE

I am passing this on to you - - - It is definitely working for me.

I think I have found inner peace.
I read an article that said the way to
achieve inner peace is to finish things you had started.

Today I finished two bags of potato chips, a chocolate pie, a bottle of wine and a small box of chocolate candy.

I feel better already.

prism 02-05-2002 03:55 AM

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've read all of your posts and I finally wrote down my food intake in my journal. I wrote with a pretty pen. It opened my eyes to the amount of fat I'm eating. Will try harder tomorrow.

I went to the movies tonight, the count of monte cristo. It was pretty good. Anything to get away from the work at home. My bedroom is halfway organized. Dreamtime is calling.

Sweet dreams,
Malia

 morning everyone, i was just reading the first message where it says for days of week ie motivational monday ? why a wednesday weigh in is there a reason for this ive been weighing myself on a sunday i dont know why i do this maybe its because ive convinced myself that pigging out on a saturday night wont show on the scales until after sunday, im only cheating myself with this conclusion but does a mid week weigh make it easier

SusieH 02-05-2002 08:03 AM

Hi everyone,

It's been a while and it showed on the scale. I was up 1 pound on Saturday. After a terrible weekend off program, I completed yesterday completely OP. I exercised (bike) for 1 hour, drank over 8 glasses of water, and stayed within my points.

I haven't had time to read all the posts, so forgive me for not responding, but I wanted to just say "HI" to everyone anyway.

I am hoping to stay OP today too.

I still haven't started my new job yet. It was supposed to be yesterday, but didn't happen, as the paperwork still is in process. I sure hope it happens this week, so I can get out of here.

Well, have a great day.

LuckyLadyBug 02-05-2002 08:11 AM

Tuesday Tips:

No willpower?
You think you don't have any willpower?
Well you're wrong.
You have plenty of willpower.
For example, suppose I offered you a million dollars.
All you had to do was work really hard for 2 years.
Would you have the willpower to do it?
I bet you would.
Because you want the million dollars, don't you?

Well that's your willpower.
Willpower is spelt: I-N-C-E-N-T-I-V-E.
So go find yourself an incentive to lose weight.
Then you'll have all the willpower you need.

I found this interesting....most of us would do what it takes to get a million dollars but we don't when it's for our health & happiness. I feel sad that I let myself down all the time. I haven't even found (in the past) an incentive that will get me to take care of myself. hmmmm maybe I don't like this tip after all.

flumper 02-05-2002 10:50 AM

hello again have just been to one of the other groups boards and a clever little person in there found this great sitewww.myvirtualmodel.com it is brill you make a model of your body now then when your finished clik on modify then put in weight and things you want to reach it then shows you what youd look like after the "struggle" i found this very very helpful to me today

thinthinker 02-05-2002 10:52 AM

Good morning, everyone! Hope you are all doing well this morning. It is a NEW day!!!

I didn't do extremely well yesterday. I got some yummy, well, nevermind, I'm not going to describe it 'cuz you'll all want it. But suffice it to say, I bought it, I ate it and I'll be paying for it.

I did come home and microwave some of that leftover baked cod from the other night instead of what I was making for the rest of the family. I guess I will call that my 'little victory' for yesterday. I could have just eaten what I was making for everyone else. It was more trouble to make something else for me. But I did it. And it was a better choice! Hooray for me!!! :D

Tina: Thank you for being honest!! That was really courageous! You're so right, we've all been there and we have all walked that same road. And we do understand. But I have been tempted to come here and say 'food's been good' when it truly hasn't. After all, who would know? But I think you've come to the same conclusion I have and that's that we're really only lying to ourselves! * Your focus should be on the positive. You drank more water than you have in a long time. You had a helping of green beans. And your DH uses boneless, skinless chicken breasts which are far less fat and calories that chicken with the bones and skin left on. Sooooo, you did fine. After all, we're talking baby steps here. * Good for you looking for a WW meeting. It is good to have someone to answer to. * Today is a new day, take another baby step. [[[hugs]]]

2cute: Glad you're back safely. Also glad that your folks are doing well. * Too bad about the maintain, but you're attitude is great! Sometimes the scale just needs to catch up to all the good that your body is doing.

Malia: Good for you journalling! I still didn't get that job done yesterday. Maybe today!

Flumper: I think the Wednesday Weigh-In came from the fact that Weigh-In was the best thing to go with Wednesday, the W thing, ya know. I'm not sure if any of us WI on Wednesday for real. I WI on Monday. It makes me pay more attention on the weekend and starts my week off right. * That site sounds like fun. I will check it out right now.

Susie: I'm sorry your new job hasn't gone through yet. That must be very frustrating. You packed stuff up to move awhile ago, didn't you? * Good job getting back OP yesterday. 45 minutes of exercise, I'm impressed!!!

LuckyLadyBug: That was very interesting about the willpower. So true. And interesting because my dad offered me a new car as incentive to lose weight when I was a teen. You would think that would have done it, wouldn't ya???

Tuesday Tip: If you don't care for water, like me, squirt some lemon juice into a tall glass of water and add one envelope of your favorite sweetener (Equal, Splenda, Sweet n Low) and you will have yummy lemonade!!!

Well girls, I'm outta here. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
After all my computer problems the other day, I found the cartoon below. The title is: Is Your Computer Upset. (mine is, maybe this is what happened the other day! )

"You grow up the day you have your first real laugh, at yourself." - Ethel Barrymore

thinthinker 02-05-2002 11:28 AM

Hey you guys! I don't know if any of you are like me and really have no clue what 145 pounds would even look like. You know, because it's been so long since we saw 145, or maybe NEVER saw it. Anyway, WW says I should weigh between 140 and 145 and I just don't know what that looks like.

I went to that site that flumper mentioned. It is so fun. You don't have to sign up for anything (unless you want to). Enter your right info: shapes, sizes, weight and it really creates YOU! Then I went back and did the same thing with 145 pounds and walah! there I was thinner!!!

It's really fun. And I didn't leave any of my personal info on the site, I just erased it all and can go back and do it all over another time. Try it.

See ya later.

Jehari 02-05-2002 01:25 PM

Hey there all!

Well, I just don't even want to tell you about my weekend. BAD BAD BAD!!! Was having crisis and went right for the food!! Oh well. I had to give in and go buy some pants. I was down to one pair. I just couldn't afford to wait until i lost 10 pounds at the rate I'm going.

I thought to myself that maybe this is a bad time to do this. Then I thought to myself that maybe that is just an excuse.

Thank you Lynne for your post about not being able to change these eating habits over night. I knew that, but I guess it was tucked away in the darker regions of my brain and I needed somebody to TELL me. After battling this weight my whole life, you'd think I'd know these things by now. But again, I've tried to change things over night and the stresses and failures were too much. I will just have to keep working at it.

I can't believe how many posts there have been, so I can't reply to everyone right now. But I just have to tell ya.... I went to that virtual model site today, and HAHAHAHAHAHA!! That virtual model may have looked like SOMEBODY that weighs 190 pounds, but it sure wasn't me!!! It didn't sag anywhere! It didn't have stretchmarks or cellulite!! If I looked as good as my 190 pound virtual model, I'd say to **** with dieting and go out clothes shopping!!!

Anyhow girls, I gotta get.

MY MISSION OF THE DAY: DRINK THE DANG WATER!!! (I am so bad about that!!)

Jen

flumper 02-05-2002 01:35 PM

jen i know exactly what you mean about the sags, dont think my boobs will ver get like that no matter how much i lose but thats not something that a wonderbra wont sort out lol

QueenB 02-05-2002 03:02 PM

Hello everyone! Don't have much time to reply....about to leave to pick up the kids for school. Just wanted to say I went to the virtual model sight and it was really cool . I just have one question?

Where was my stomach roll that hits the floor? I turned her all the way around and couldnt find it?!

Thanks for the website. Made me feel all giddy inside!

2cute2Bfat 02-05-2002 07:40 PM

Hello everyone

I have not time to post tonight. I have been babysitting all day and I am worn out. In the morning we go to the hospital at 7am and I will have my NEW granddaughter. :D

Just had to sneak in a minute and tell you hello and show off something to THinthinker. Let's see if sees it.
Hey Thin.. I made your pistascio fluff tonight. It was :T MMMmm good.
TA DA !!!! Look what I did. :p

:T :T

You all can use it now. Suzanne added it to our smilies options for me. Or you can just use : and T together.

Hope you all have a great night and even better tomorrow.

qsilver 02-05-2002 08:44 PM

Hey everyone :)

Guess what I did today... I went for a walk! The doctor gave me permission to walk 1/2 mile a day this week and add 1/2 mile each week after. It took me nearly 20 minutes to complete, but I did it, I did it, I did it!!!

Now, to be honest, my knee is killing me, and I'm going to go prop it up while attempting to explain to my 11 year old how to heat up leftovers for dinner. Of course, I'll be sitting there and cheering for myself the whole time. :)

Andria

Grannie39074 02-05-2002 09:42 PM

Hello all
I have been so busy today I had my first DAR meeting and I did the program. I also have a croopy caugh and am hoarse. I'll try to be here tomorrow but depends how I feel.

LuckyLadyBug 02-05-2002 09:51 PM

Lynne You are so right it takes “baby steps” to turn this into a new way of being.

Kat I so “get” your quote from the book. I believe that is why I have to “love” myself more because looking for it anywhere else won't be a permanent fix. I will check out that site you wrote about….sugar sensitive. I checked three on the list and I do know if I start with sweets – that’s it….BINGE.
CONGRATULATIONS on meeting your goals.

Thanks for sharing your “awareness”. I found it inspirational.

Thin Yeah down 2….good for you. GREAT computer pic….loved it.

2Cute What do you mean…your husband has a legitimate point??? I SURE hope you didn’t let him know that.

Tina We are here to support you – so don’t feel sad. You are right, the first thing we have to do is be honest about our food….NOT easy….Good for you for doing that. It will make it all the easier for the rest of us to be honest when we have a mini set back.

Andria Congrats on the walk. It is warm enough here in Minnesota to go walking – which I love. So, tomorrow after work…BEFORE I can post here is walking time.

Flumper That virtual site is great….now there is some incentive….

So, I changed my mind – I am thankful I picked the tip I did today. And I have come up with an
I-N-C-E-N-T-I-V-E.

I have a pair of jeans that I want to wear and what a surprise, they are too small. Well, I have decided as my incentive to keep on keeping on that I will try them on every Thursday – UNTIL THEY FIT.

QueenB 02-05-2002 10:22 PM

Day of up and downs

Hey everyone! Have I had a day or what? Can anyone tell me an easy way to make letters big, bold and colored at the same time?

Anyways, on to other things: So, I decide last night that I'm going to join WW. :) So, I call and listen to the recording and they have a meeting today at 6:00. So I'm laying there in the bed last night thinking (when I should have been sleeping) trying to figure out which plan is best for me. Do I just pay the $30.00 to join or go for one of the money saving plans? Now, I don't know what they offer in other areas, but here if you pay 108.00 it will pay you up for 11 weeks and you save something like 42.00. Well, this is the plan that I wanted....not only to save money :D but it would help me make a committment also. So, I have an extra $140.00 in the bank that my husband and I are planning to use to finish the bathroom and I'm wondering how I can approach the subject (oh so tactfully ) that I would like to use this money for WW. Now, in my heart, I know he won't mind, but he's seen me start and give up so many times, I just don't want to tell him I want to use it. So, I go to sleep thinking of these things.
Next, I am woke up by my husband who has come in from the mailbox and said, "Hey, remember that money that you've been waiting on from the 401K plan that you cancelled at your old job?" and I said, "Yeah." Truthfully, I had almost forgot about it. And he said, "Well, it finally came in." It was a check for 170.00!!!! Now, I know that's not a huge amount of money, but it certainly solved my problem. So, I hopped my big fat but to WW tonight and I joined and I'm really excited about it. I would like to mention however ThinThinker, that we are no longer close in weight anymore. My horrible scale deceived me. According to WW, I weigh 346.5. That was very distressing for me to gain almost 20 pds on the step of a single scale, but what can you do?
Once again, thank you all for all the wonderful encouraging comments. I would love to type more, but I'm on my way to work. I hope you all have a wonderful evening. :)

prism 02-05-2002 11:29 PM

Good evening,

The virtualmodel website was fun, but like Jen it didn't show my sagging bust and stomach. Stretch marks too. I never looked like that. One step at a time.

Buckled down today. Exercised to RS disco sweat. It was a relief. I'll have some fish for dinner and 2 cups of steamed veggies with lemon. I got on the scale and with my period in limbo. It did not look good. No four pound loss by 2/8 for me. It's depressing.

Our trip is coming along. We got the doggie hotel reservations in and sent in our deposit. I need to get in shape. Incentives.

Will come back later,
Malia

prism 02-06-2002 02:39 AM

Hi,

I'm back as promised. I've been surfing this website and found many success stories. I'm amazed how some are able to steadily lose 8lbs a month. I don't understand why my weight is not budging. Compared to my eating habits during the holidays, I've cut back drastically. I've eliminated junkfood and soda. Exercised. Perhaps I'm pushing too hard. I'm measuring myself tomorrow. A little here, a little there--might boost my morale. What can I say? Keep trying until I get it right.

Sometimes I can't believe what a difference the support from this website has done for me. I would go days on end without thinking of losing weight. Keeping in contact with you has kept my focus. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes not. But I'll get it right.

Measure the body, measure the difference.
Malia

QueenB 02-06-2002 04:44 AM

No Special Reason

Was just sitting here at work reading back over earlier posts so I could try to get to know everyone better and after reading a gazillion posts, I have found that we are all very different but the same, all very motivated but not immune from failure, all trying to get through this crazy thing we call life and in short I have found you all are angels. Never doubt how lucky we are to have each other. Have a wonderful day.

LuckyLadyBug 02-06-2002 08:04 AM

Tina I am so happy for you….When things like that happen to me I take it as a sign that the Universe is on my side!!!! Thanks for that last post – sweet and true!!

Malia You are inspiring me with your exercise. I know about the “waiting” to see that scale move. I can go for weeks and then suddenly – boom – it moves. But in the mean time it’s easy to give up. I think you are doing the exact right thing by measuring. I suppose that is why it is always suggested not to get “hooked” on that scale.

LuckyLadyBug 02-06-2002 08:19 AM

INTERESTING

Make dining an event. East from your own special plate, on your own special placemat, and borrow the Japanese art of food arranging to make your meal, no matter how meager, look lovely. This is a trick that helps chronic over-eaters and bingers pay attention to their food instead of consuming it unconsciously.

katrinabgood 02-06-2002 09:19 AM

OHMIGOD, I JUST DELETED SUCH A LONG POST...i'm GOING TO KICK MYSELF NOW, BE BACK LATER.

Grannie39074 02-06-2002 09:24 AM

Good morning all
I di get here today as you can see but I feel terrible. It is raining outside and it's cold.

Hope everyone has a great op Wednesday.

Just popping in to say hi....

I am still totally out of control! I thought I was getting back but lost it again!

Its nice to see some newbies on the block...welcome! I will be back again soon!

Michelle

katrinabgood 02-06-2002 10:21 AM

Hey Lucky,

I noticed that your number DECREASED! Good for you! I had this whole little story on my (deleted) post about a pair of jeans that I have hung onto for about, Oh...let's see...22 YEARS! They are size 11 Sasson baggy jeans...(ooh la la Sasson?--anyone old enough to recall?) I really LOVED those pants, they just fit so nicely... I VOW (here comes Scarlett again!) to get into them again!

2cute2bAgrandma! Congratulations! How is the little bundle of joy? I can't wait to be a grandma!! I mean, WHEN IT'S THE RIGHT TIME!!! Please dear God, not any time soon...(16 year old daughter) I am going to be the coolest, most fun grandma ever! (Unlike the two duds my poor children are saddled with...but that's a story for another day!)

Andria, how's the knee feeling today? Take it slow, remember, baby steps!

Malia, don't sweat the plateau...take your measurements and track your progress that way. Don't be discouraged!

Tina, I admire your honesty. Good for you for facing the facts and moving on!

Mary, I hope you feel better. What goes on at a DAR meeting?

QueenB, I LOVE when that happens!! I just received a check from a credit card company for over $200.00 for an overpayment! It couldn't have come at a better time! I'm glad you're putting your $$$ to such good use! Good luck!

Thinthinker...any idea which # thread your wonderful recipes are on? I was trying to find them yesterday...will keep looking. I DID remember the chicken/salsa/pineapple one, though...Whoa, was that good! Gonna try that in the crockpot, too I think... A definite keeper! :T :T :T

Who am I forgetting?

Susie? Did you start the job yet? Give us the scoop!

What about Jen? Doing any better? Don't be discouraged by a total meltdown...just pick up where you left off, and come here FREQUENTLY...it really helps to me focus!

Flumper...how could I forget you with a name like that? Is there a hidden meaning behind it? It's really cute. How are you doing?

Syn, Hi! Find any good stuff in the garden books? I'm looking forward to getting dirt under my nails, too!

Lynne, how are those baby steps coming? Just keep planting one little baby shoe in front of the other...I'm right behind you in case you fall...so's everyone else!

Michelle...there you are! Keep reading the posts anyway...we're here when you're ready for us!

Wow, I think I have exceeded my previous post in length...We are really a large group! (In more ways than one! ) I hope I didn't miss anyone, If I did, please forgive me, I'll catch you next time...

oops, almost forgot...Weigh-in Wednesday...here goes...gulp...
Today I weigh 258.8 lbs. I intend to decrease that number by at least 3 lbs next Wednesday! I'm off to do my new exercise tape...I'm having *good* muscle pains from the workout the other night...something MUST be happening!

Gotta go...love to all...

prism 02-06-2002 11:20 AM

Good morning,

I measured this morning. I wanted to let you all know the results before I go to work.

Weight: 250 (gain of 1lb)

Midriff: loss of 1 inch
stomach: loss of 1/2 inch
Hips: gain of 1 inch
Right thigh: loss of 1/2 inch
Left upper arm: gain of 1/4 inch

Add loss/gain together: I lost 1.25 inches. It's water for me today, chase the bloatiness away.

Jehari 02-06-2002 01:04 PM

Here I am again to confess my sins :^: .

I had 3 ooey gooey cinnamon rolls for breakfast today. I ate zingers before bed last night. I am NOT doing well. I did do Tae Bo yesterday. The problem with Tae Bo is that the days I do it, I am extra mega super duper hungry!! Not the kind of hungry I can ignore...the ravenous I-have-to-eat-something-or-I-may-kill-someone kind of hungry. This is such a bad time.

I am thinking I need to go back on the pills I was taking before. I have hesitated to do that because of my ulcer, but i haven't had problems with it for a while. I think I need to give it a shot.

Michelle: As you can see, I am in the same boat girl! We just have to keep trying. I guess trying and failing is better than just giving up, as long as we keep trying.

2Cute: Congrats to you grandma!!!

That's about all I have time for right now. Talk at ya all later,
Jen

Grannie39074 02-06-2002 01:57 PM

Hello Everyone!

Thought I would jump in really quick and say hello.

2cute: I am soooo happy for you. Congrats on that beautiful grandbaby. I know you are tickled to death.
Mary: Sorry your not feeling well today. :( Hope you feel better soon.

I'm hopelessly trying to remember what everyone posted so I can address you all. Well anyways, Ladybug......Kat......Michelle......
Malia......Flumper.......Jen and TT. (I'm sure I've missed several) I hope you have a good day. Today is going well for me. First day OP and so far, so good. Kids are out of school today due to the weather and they keep hollering for me to get off the computer, so I will go for now. See you soon and for those of you that are riding high today.....save a place for me. For those of you having a bad day.......come on up, there's plenty of room for friends.

LuckyLadyBug 02-06-2002 08:02 PM

LoseForLife 02-06-2002 09:57 PM

HI quick post..

2cute, congrats on the baby! :D

I walked again yesterday, that's 2 days out of 3. The other day I was doing enough unpacking and tidying, and I'm certainly feeling it all today!!!

Eating is better, but last night I FINALLY found those darned books! yay! Now I can journal and keep proper track.

I'm off to a job interview, so catcha later!

Lynne

prism 02-06-2002 11:44 PM

Hi everyone,

2cute, congratulations on your sweet grandbaby. You are blessed.

Jen, we're in the same boat. Exercise, feel ravenous, and eat the worse kind of foods. I call it running in place. Today, I had a plate lunch. In Hawaii, we eat a lot of rice and meat soaked with shoyu (salty soy sauce). I must have eaten 2000 calories for lunch. I've been drinking water to counter the salt, but I'm still thirsty. No dinner for me tonight. Self-defeating behavior.

Hopeless in Hawaii,
Malia

Grannie39074 02-07-2002 08:02 AM

I found this on my e-mail today and wanted to share we all know the benifit of drinking water. I am going into town today and will check in later.

Tip of the Week - Water Works for Weight Loss
Nothing quells the appetite like water, lots and lots of water. Start
out with two quart bottles in the morning and carry one with you to
work
or wherever you go. If you like, divvy up the 64 ounces of water into
eight (8-ounce) bottles or four pint (16-ounce) bottles to carry
around
with you all day. Freeze half of them the night before and they will
last all day, even in a hot car. Keep some unfrozen so they will be
ready to drink immediately.

Yes. You will have to make more frequent bathroom trips, but it is
worth
it. Drink your 64 ounces of water before dinner, if possible, so
you're
not up half the night going to the bathroom.

Water not only fills you up and lessens your appetite, it prevents
those
"hungry horrors" we all encounter when our blood sugar drops and we
reach for cookies, candy, ice cream, fries or other high-calorie
treats.
Water also flushes out the system, rids the body of bloat and toxins
and
rosies up the complexion. Now, start splashing.

LuckyLadyBug 02-07-2002 08:05 AM

Lynne Congrats on the walking. I walked yesterday for the first time in a long time. I had one of my nephews go with me because I knew it would be dark before I got back and didn’t want any critters attacking me. We only encountered deer (that I know of) but when walking even they are scary. Will they run away? Will they run at me? Actually, they just stood and watched us walk by.

Malia You are NOT hopeless. You just had one not so good meal and it is behind you. As she has been quoted before here, “Tomorrow is another day.” So, as Scarlet said you and the rest of us are onto another day. WE can do it. “It” being whatever we are concentrating on at the moment. Congratulations on the 1.25 inch loss. I should start doing that too because it does help with the motivation to measure.

2Cute WOW a baby…How is Sam doing? Are you teaching her the computer keyboard, yet?

I tried, and tried, and tried on my jeans but I have a long way to go to get them on. I did however, once again fit into my size 20 slacks. Baby Steps, Baby Steps, Baby Steps, Baby Steps, Baby Steps

Hey, girlfriends!

Good morning all...I've only got a few minutes to post, dh said I had better be ready to go @ 10:00...lots of errands to run this AM and we NEVER get a chance to do them together! We kid around and call this kind of stuff our "dates"...we definitely gotta get out more! I'm REALLY looking forward to our dance class...now we'll HAVE to go out dancing to get our $24.00 worth!!

I had a real stressful night last, could have turned to munchies a few times to "alleviate" the stress, but I didn't! So that's a positive thing.

A few nights ago at work I had the occasion to spend some time with a woman, early 30's, in because of heroin withdrawl. Apparently she came in, in bad shape, screaming, out of it, etc. When I saw her she was quite lucid and telling me how she's "NEVER gonna do that again! " She has a young child and she just forgot to get a "bag" before his birthday party (geez, the poor kid, what chance does HE have?) and so this happened to her. As she went on and on about "this is it, this is the LAST time, I swear!" my thoughts were along the lines of, "yeah sure, whatever, til you get out of here," and "what a loser, why doesn't she get some help, for the sake of her child?" and then it occurred to me, OHMIGOD, she sounds just like ME! How many times have I said after a binge..."this is it, this is the LAST time, I swear!" I'm an addict, too. Why don't I get some help, for the sake of MY children? Well, that's what I'm working on and why I'm here with you guys, to get (and to give, if I can) HELP!

Well, I'd better get moving before hubby dear gets back!

See y'all later...
