This Bites!

My old scale finally bit the dust, so my loving DH went out and got me a fancy battery operated one! That was really nice of him, cause I didn't even ask him too:D

BUT the damn thing says that I weigh 13 pounds more then my old scale:eek: Now for the past 2 months I have been bouncing between 210-215 on my old scale because of TOM being screwy (not pregnant and I'm going in to the doc in 2 weeks!) So I am going by 210, so that puts me at 223 on this new scale.............this really bites the big one:mad:

I feel for you, Jackie. The same thing happened to me when I got a new scale. It said I was 10 pounds heavier, which was pretty depressing. Don't despair. I kicked up my starting weight by 10 pounds and figured that I still had lost the same amount of weight. Can you do that too? It's just a number anyway. You've still lost almost 20 big huge pounds!!!

Yes, let me second that. You have still lost 20 pounds, and that's a good thing.

According to your ticker you've lost almost 30 lbs and regardless of your starting weight that is a great accomplishment! Do not despair!! You've done amazing and you'll continue to do amazing no matter what the starting weight really was ^^

It's just a number , adjust your ticker and go by your new scale, you have still lost 28 pounds, that is a great accomplishment.

It matters only that the numbers go down, on any scale.

MileHighMama 11-08-2007 09:01 AM

Ooops. I meant that you have lost almost 30 pounds, not almost 20! which is even more amazing. I figure that you raise your starting weight and raise your current weight and the loss stays the same, so you are still doing great!!!

The scale should be your LAST indication of success. You can be a normal weight and unhealthy because you aren't fit. The permanent lifestyle changes that you make should be your FIRST indication of success. No matter how you look at it, you've lost the same number of pounds. Good for you and keep it up!

That sucks! I feel for you. But I also agree with everyone else - obviously you're doing really great.

I think batteries themselves weigh about..... 13 pounds. Wouldn't you say? ;)

I agree with the others - regardless of the actual weight, you STILL have lost 30 pounds! That's FABULOUS!!!! Just keep kick'n it the way you are & you'll be at your goal before you know it!!

I thought I was starting at 20 lb less than I actually was until I got the scale working correctly, so I feel your pain. The good news is that weight lost is weight lost is weight lost, no ifs, ands or buts about it! Congrats on your loss thus far. The number will keep dropping, and this point will be moot when you're past 210 on the new scale, anyway!

I whole heartly agree with everyone here you have achieved so much already so don,t sweat it the scales are evil just go by the loss you already have 30lbs is 30lbs on any scale so Yay I got a battery op digital scale and I hate it I,m going back to my old one, I find the battery ones are to sensitive I,ve got on it and it has told me I,m 10lbs heavier than I was in the morning and then a min later it says I,m 20lb lighter I find it is how you stand on it you have to be just so or eveytime will be different and yes we want that but not when it tells you your 10lb heavier than you were yesterday no way. They are just numbers as long as your clothes are getting looser and your measurements are getting smaller that,s all that matters. Take care.

Thank you all for the support!
I'm thinking that I'll just keep my starting weight the same, I don't know what's more depressing seeing that number go up or the actual amount lost go down.:dizzy:
I gave the scale a few days and many tries:o It really hasn't fluctuated that much so I think it's pretty accurate! Plus TOM finally reared its ugly head yesterday after a no show last month, HOPING (fingers crossed) that maybe this is just water weight and bloat from that. I hate hormones:p
THANK YOU for letting me vent!
