I skipped the cake

  • Yesterday I started to refocus my weight loss efforst after still eating Halloween candy until then.

Today I walked into the kitchen at work to find 3/4 of a pumpkin cake. It looked great and I hadn't eaten my breakfast yogurt yet so I was hungry. But then I looked at the calories - 230 for a slice. WHen I read that there were 30 slices in that computation, I knew it wasn't worth it. I don't think anyone has a sharp enough knife to cut a cake into 30 pieces. If I did have a piece, I figured it would be about 3 times that or 690 calories. So I walked away and am feeling proud about it. Maybe it looked dried out anyway.

I'm sure it wasn't even a pumpkin cake...it was so old the cake was covered in orange mold.....thank God you saved yourself from what was sure to be food poisoning!!
  • Way to go on holding back. I think/say whatever it takes to keep certain foods from entering my mouth even if I have to make up stuff.
  • Oh, yeah! It is SO not worth it when you find out the calories involved in some of these things!

  • I love that feeling! Ugh, not worth it. Congrats on your admirable restraint.
  • You know what gets me? Is those cakes that DONT have calories on them. i find those harder to resist. :0)
