Hey! I use the downloaded version. You can add foods to it by entering information from the foods' Nutrition Panel to the Food Explorer. And, if you figure out the calories and nutrients of ingredients in a recipe, and add them all up, you can add the whole recipe. That's a little harder, but it can be done, and then it's easy after that.
I like the Weight Goal setup, where you enter how much you want to lose and by what date, and FitDay will tell you what you need to do in terms of calories. It also warns you if you're trying to lose too fast and your calories have to be too low.
Once you set up a Weight Goal, it's all a matter of entering everything you eat in the Food Log and the exercise you do in the Activity Log. Of course, right at the beginning fill out the information in My Profile and My Metabolism--that's the basis for the calculations. I set mine at sedentary and add any exercise I do to the Activities Log.
When you're maintaining, you just put the goal weight the same as the start weight, and then you can see what your calorie intake and calorie burn needs to be.
Hope this helps. I downloaded my version a few years ago, so it may be different.
