HOWDY

There were so many good posts in the last thread that I have printed it out and going to respond offline. It was soooo great finding all you posting.

I spent this afternoon at the emergency room with my daughter today. She is fine ... thank goodness. She has to go to a cardiologist for more tests.

After that ordeal we went to the movies and saw "A Beautiful Mind". It is a true story about some.... WAIT .... I don't want to spoil it for anyone. I guess you will have to see if for yourself. :p

My food was good again. :D No popcorn at the movies. Even three servings of veggies too. :smug: Got plenty of water but... no exercise. :^: I promise... as soon as my girls get back to school I WILL start.

Okay, enough about me. I am going to go read all of your posts and respond tomorrow. Hope you all had a great day.
Oh, I almost forgot... I may be going out of town tomorrow.
I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Don't forget I need some good veggie recipes for Sunday. ;)

katrinabgood 01-06-2002 11:35 AM

Good Morning!

Wow, 2cute, I hope everything is OK w/your daughter! If your ER is anything like ours, you spent a good portion of your day there...:( I hope seeing Russell Crowe on screen made everyoune feel better! Is he fine, or what? I'd like to see that, don't know if I can convince hubby to go...he rates all movies as either "YES" (thumbs up) or "VRMs" (video rental movie) or "chick flick" (ALWAYS a VRM)...last movie we saw was "Lord of the Rings" (Sci-fi/fantasy is BIG with him!) but it was very good!

I was going to post a few recipes, but I have to put my chauffer's cap on at the moment...daughter needs a ride to dance school...on a Sunday, no less! They are choreographing her hs play..."A Chorus Line," I love that show...so I won't grumble too much I guess. Actually this gives me my opportunity to get out and walk, there's a great park by her school. :^:

That will give me time to think up a WHOLE BUNCH of good recipes for you guys...

See you later:smug:

thinthinker 01-06-2002 12:01 PM

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday!

I started journalling on Wednesday and have already given it up! I am going to do better at that this next week. Food has been 'iffy'. Because I haven't fully journalled, I'm not sure exactly where I stand, other than the scale didn't look too bad this morning. I think I will do soup today. I have some cabbage soup and some taco soup in the fridge. I have a beef roast thawing for dinner tonight, so I might indulge in a little of that.

I got a new compact food scale for Christmas. I really do need to start watching the portions. It's been a very long time since I actually weighed or measured anything. Once you do it for awhile, it gets easier to 'eyeball' it, but when you haven't been accurate in a long time the eyeball seems to grow, if ya know what I mean. It's time to get on the ball and start over.

It was really good to see so many here, and on the weekend too. But you watch, the thread will be empty today because it's Sunday and no one wants to post a recipe. Well, ya know, we won't flog you with wet noodles if you don't have a recipe, so you all can come post anyway! :smug:

Katrina: Don't apologize for taking us back to reality. I'm sorry to say that I really think a new complacency has come again. Not that we need a constant reminder of September 11th, but now that the media is not broadcasting pictures of ground zero, I fear that some of us have just moved on. I'm not sure what I really want to say here, I'm sorry. I don't want to say we've forgotten, but I'm hoping that we're not looking at things like it's one incident that won't or couldn't ever be repeated. I think the world has changed, and we need to be aware of that. Ok, enough of that.....let's move on........* The beach sounds wonderful. I haven't been to the ocean in alot of years. I bet you all (Molly included) had a great time!

LuckyLadyBug: You ordered the belly dancing tape??? You go girl!!! I'm proud of you!!! :D It's really too bad that your niece is 'enabled' by all of the women surrounding her. You know, maybe she thinks she's just destined to be large and figures she might just as well go with it. That's really too bad. * I loved the picture of you from the last thread. You really are limber!!!

Mary: We go to Hooter's because the food is really good. Well, that's what I'd like to believe anyway! :o Glad your ankle is doing better. * Sounds like you had a nice day with your DH, good for you!

Suzy: I'm glad you came back. The treadmill sounds like a blessing. When it's cold you'll be able to still get moving. * Go ahead and cry. My gosh, you're surely entitled. It will take some time to be able to shake off the numbness you feel right now. Come visit us often, we're here for you. * When I first started WW I was adicted to Pepsi. I figured I could never stand to go to 'diet' Pepsi so I just gave it up 'cold turkey'. It was very hard, but easier than trying to cut down or switch. The first two weeks were ****, literally. I had horrible headaches from the caffeine withdrawal, but I toughed it out and I'm here to tell you it can be done. I rarely, now, will have a diet Coke or Pepsi when I'm out at a restaurant, but I order it with lemon and then squeeze the juice into the Coke to cut the 'diet' taste. It's really pretty good. But I had to go through quitting altogether to get to this point.

Nath: Gosh, I'm sorry you have been so ill since last you were with us. That's terrible news. * It's also too bad you can't find some 'buddies' up near you. But we'll be here, so just pop in often and join us. * Sounds like getting together with your cousin is a great idea. There are lots of folks that think doing this weightloss thing with a friend is a great idea! :)

2cute: My gosh, what a day you had! Emergency Room? Cardiologist??? Yikes! Not a fun way to spend the day! But I guess you made up for it with the movies. Good job on the NO popcorn!!!

Ok, here is a veggie recipe for you since that was the request. I have not made it, but it sounds easy enough that I might someday. :)

Use Riesling wine for a sweeter flavor.

Thinthinker I too have trouble journaling. I have been trying to make it a game but failed last week due to a lunch out. When I don't have something that I can easily count I just give up. I have a lunch this week too...darn!  :^:

Taco soup - I love it but I only know the WW point count. Do you know the calorie count?

Here is my recipe:

Pumpkin-Bran Muffins
Makes 12 muffins
Ingredients:
Nonstick Cooking Spray
2 cups All-Bran or Fiber One cereal
1 cup skim milk
3/4 cup pumpkin
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice (or you can use 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ginger and 1/4 tsp cloves)
1 egg
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/4 cup flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
Mix together and let rest for 5 minutes: cereal and milk. Add pumpkin, egg, pumpkin pie spice and brown sugar. Mix together flour, salt, baking powder and add to pumpkin mixture. Spray 12 regular-sized muffin tins with nonstick spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-17 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 5 minutes.
SERVING SIZE: 1 muffin
POINTS: 1

I really like these but, once again, I only have WW points. Does anyone know the average calories in a WW point?

Grannie39074 01-06-2002 03:05 PM

Happy Sunday to all

Weighin was good today I'm at 210 now thats down 35 pounds since July 1. I'll be at 200 by V. day just watch:dizzy:

katrinabgood 01-06-2002 03:07 PM

I'M BACK!

This is great! Hubby is esconced on the couch, watching football, son outside playing with a friend, daughter tapping away for the afternoon...I have the computer ALL TO MYSELF!

Lucky: those muffins sound great, I need to get some pumpkin so I can try them. I have a similar recipe for "Triple B Muffins", made with All Bran, bananas, and blueberries, one point each, I will have to dig up the recipe to share if anyone needs it.

Thinthinker: Do you have a recipe for the Taco Soup? That sounds good! I think I need to get myself a new scale too. I recently threw one away that had to be 10 years old, at least! I definitely need to stop eyeballing! Katrina, WHAT BIG EYES YOU HAVE!!

I started journaling today at fitday.com...just happened across the link reading through posts. Anyone hear of it? It's FREE, you can journal daily, keep track of calories/nutritional values (might be a good place to input the foods that you're not sure of calorie counts, they'll give you the nutrional breakdown) I'll give it a try...was really just interested in on line journaling...didn't want to BORE you guys with every aspect of my exciting:lol: life!

Mary: MMM...Ruby Tuesday's Margarita! They're big and yummy! That will kill your pain!

Suzy: Have fun with your treadmill, just don't use it for a "valet" like I did with my stair-stepper (long gone) It was great for holding towels, clothing and gathering dust. Good luck with it!:)

Nath: Bon jour! Comment allez-vous? That's pretty much the extent of my high school French unless you want to know where is Sylvie and whether or not Phillippe is at the pool with her. (Chapter 1/French I) Anyway, good luck to you and your cousin. My sister is my WW buddy and it definitely helps having a buddy, (in addition the great crowd here!)

I hope I didn't miss anyone...if I did, I'll catch you next time!

Here's a really good recipe from "Weight Watchers Annual Recipes for Success, 2001"...I made this at Thanksgiving and got raves:

Broccoli Cauliflower Au Gratin

2 cups coarsely chopped broccoli florets
2 cups coarsely chopped cauliflower florets
1 cup fresh whole wheat breadcrumbs
1 tsp olive oil
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 Tbsp flour
1/2 cup fat free milk
1 cup (4 oz) shredded reduced fat sharp Cheddar cheese
cooking spray

1. Preheat oven 375
2. Steam veggies til crisp tender about 5 min. Drain well, set aside.
3. Combine bread crumbs and next 5 ingredients and set aside.
4.Place flour in a small saucepan.Gradually add milk, stirring with a whisk until blended. Bring to a boil over med-high heatand cook 1 min or until thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add cheese, stirring until cheese melts.
5. Combine veggies and cheese sauce, stirring to coat. Spoon mixture into a 1 quart baking dish coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle with bread crumb mixture. Bake for 25 min or until breadcrumbs are lightly browned. Let stand 5 min before serving
Yield 4 servings, 3 pts/ serving; 153 cal per serving.

Now that I've monopolized the thread, Ill leave you with one more easy recipe...

Sweet Potato Fries
2 large sweet potatoes
Olive oil spray

Heat oven to 425
Peel and slice potatoes into 1/2 inch french fries
Coat with olive oil spray. Bake 10 min, turn, bake 10 more minutes. Sprinkle with salt...oh man, these are good!

Gotta go...we're off to the gym for "Family Swim." Gotta burn those calories somehow.
See ya'll later

MichelleK 01-06-2002 03:25 PM

Muffin recipes? I will take ALL the 1 or 2 pt muffin recipes you all have! I LOVE muffins! I am going to try those pumpkin ones! I think I have everything...I just have to check on the cereal...I think I may have to get more of it!

My dear loved one just put me into high motivation today...he had the nerve to say don't rejoin WW unless you are going to stick with it! What nerve! I lost 97 lbs on it BEFORE he came along!!! I'll SHOW HIM! Humpf!

Ok...I know its no reason to do it but I have every intention of getting this weight off even before he said that...I loved myself when I lost all that weight! I know I can do it again! So....I need you guys here so keep posting...even when I am not posting I am reading everyone of you....all day long!

I have to run for now...my dear son is a whiney hiney today! Have a great day!

Hello there

I just got knocked off line again. Grrrrr
But as I say.... that is in the past. I must focus on the now.

I can hardly keep up with so many posts. It is great !!!
thanks for all the veggie recipes. I love it.
I found this Pumpkin Roll on line and I think it is the same as mine.
Mine is really really good. I am going to post the one I found and I will check later to see if it is the same.
____________________

Pumpkin Rolls

3 eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2/3 cup pumpkin puree (canned pumpkin)
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup all purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter, softened
8 ounces cream cheese
1 cup confectioner's sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pre-heat oven to 375
Butter/grease 10"x15" cookie sheet
Blend eggs, sugar, and pumpkin
In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder
Add pumpkin mixture and blend until smooth
Spread evenly on cookie sheet, bake for 15 to 25 minutes
Let cake cool enough to handle
Sprinkle a tea towel with confectioner's sugar, turn cake onto towel, and roll the cake up with the towel inside it
TIP- I cut the edges off the cake so it won't crack while rolling it up!
Let cake cool completely

To prepare frosting blend butter, cream cheese, and vanilla
Unroll cooled cake and frost it
Roll it up again (without the towel inside, of course!)
Wrap it in plastic wrap and chill
Slice when ready to serve

We did not go out of town today. I cleaned some this morning and this afternoon I went to a grocery store that is going out of business. Everything is 50%off. In fact I got Hallmark and American greeting cards for 10 cents each. !!!! That is some bargain. Even if they were originally $5.00.
All these bargains I am finding lately are costing me a fortune.

My youngest daughter is leaving at 7am in the morning for London. Part of her college scholarship she recieved included a class study abroad. She will be there a month. It is hard to let her go but I know she will enjoy every minute of it. She is going to see about a dozen plays. She has her days and weekends free to travel and sightsee.

We are taking her and boyfriend out to dinner in just a few minutes.
We are going to a Mexican restaurant called Abuelos. They are suppose to have the BEST mexican mashed potatoes and seven layer dip in town. PRAY FOR ME !!!!
Better get going...need to put on makeup and such.

LuckyLadyBug 01-06-2002 07:04 PM

Pray for you, I wish I WAS YOU, 2Cute....I absolutly love Mexican food.

Grannie39074 01-06-2002 08:14 PM

Evening all

Kat: If I had drunk the whole Margarita(32Oz) DH would have had to lug me to the car.:p

I have been playing with my CD burner today, trying to figure it out.

I had a pb&j for dinner with 1% milk

Not much going on. Thanks for all the recipes.

2cute2Bfat 01-06-2002 09:06 PM

Almost a DISASTER here tonight !!!!!

OH MY GOD !!!
Did I just get the **** scared out of me just now.
I had to come in here and relax a minute.

I told all of you that my youngest was leaving for London in the morning.
Well... I just discovered that I LOST her passport !!!!!!!
Oh my !!!!!! 7pm on a Sunday night.... flight leaves at 7am Monday.... and I can't find her passport !!!!!!

I didn't panic.... I stopped relaxed and remembered the last time I cleaned paperwork in the kitchen. That is my WORST cleaning problem I have... paperwork.
Anyway.... I remembered a basket I stuck a bunch of stuff in. Then I stuck that basket in the closet at Thanksgiving because we were having all that company.
We went to that closet, then found the basket and lo and behold. THERE WAS HER PASSPORT. :D :D
You cannot imagine how scared my daughter was. I was actually surprised she handled it so well.
It was TOTALLY my fault. I am sooooo lucky I remembered where it was. It could have been a DISASTER !!!!!!

Well friends... enough about my trauma.
I did fairly well at the dinner. . Ladybug... you would have Loved it !!! :p
I ate a few chips with that dip. Mmmm good.
Then ordered grilled shrimp with a spinach dish, rice, and those mexican cheese potatoes. It was all sooo yummy. I ate all of my spinach and shrimp. I tasted the rice and only ate less than half the potatoes. It was sooooooo good.
I ordered water so I even got all my water in today too.

Well I am going to go play games with my daughters. See you all tomorrow. I sure hope I get back to answer all of the posts from the last thread.

Happy New Year!

What a long month!!! The holidays were wonderful...but...computer problems still exist. Error messages galore. I'm drawing a blank. On top of that, I'm having problems shaking a cold/cough off. One month of it. I think it's an allergy from work. They did major construction and we're inhaling the dust. My lungs are irritated. It's better on the weekends.

2001 in review. I started 8/8/01, lost ten pounds the first month. Four months at a standstill. It hasn't been a waste (except for precious time). I've exercised quite a bit, and haven't gained it back. However, it's time for new strategy. I'm dropping the focus on ten pounds at a time. It doesn't work for me. Shock treatment is required. I need to lose 105 pounds. Hopefully, eight pounds a month. Also, I'll need to instill some form of award system.

Today, marks the first day of a new way of life. I've left a couple of bad habits behind in 2001. Health is the focus in 2002.

I need to get some shut eye for it's a work day. Will weigh in when I wake up and note it on this thread.

Sweet dreams,
Malia

Here is my motivation for this week only because it's the way I feel, I am learning to sail my own ship.

"I don't worry about the storms, I am learning to sail my own ship." – Louisa May Alcott

2cute2Bfat 01-07-2002 08:59 AM

Boo hoo....wiping the tears away....

Well I just got home from the airport. It is soooo sad to send my "baby" off into the BIG WORLD. :( With all the security at airports you can't sit and wait for the plane with them to the very end. I had to leave her alone to wait for most of time. I keep telling myself that I had been married for 2 years by her age and if she is old enough to go to England without me she is old enough to sit in an airport without me. I just feel like crying sending her off alone. :(

Monday Motivation. I don't know what I want to offer here.
I just keep my focus on "DETERMINATION".
I am determined to stay on program.
I am determined to drink that water.
I am determined to make it work as a "way of life" ...not as a diet that I can cheat on.
DETERMINATION is my motivation.

Well... I think I will get my day started. I am sooo thankful that I didn't screw up my daughters trip by losing her passport.
I would NEVER been able to forgive myself .... and I know SHE NEVER would have forgiven me. And her dad  ....Oh I don't even want to think about that.
ALLS WELL THAT ENDS WELL . :)

I think I need a Hug :( ... this has been a "stressful" 24hours.
And since none of you are here to hug me... I guess I will just have to hug myself.

typerk 01-07-2002 09:23 AM

Hi there - I'm new to these forums and I don't have a recipe today but wanted to say that I have enjoyed reading your thread and will be visiting this support group regularly. When I have something to offer, I will. Today's the first day (again) for me but I'm at my heaviest:(

I'm not a part of any particular weight loss group. I know the WW program and am seeing my doctor and my trainer so I'm going to try that first as I find WW a bit expensive. If I have trouble or need more support, I will likely join TOPS as I just found out they have a meeting near me. I really would like to do this on my own. When I set my mind to it, I can do anything I want!

Take care everyone.

MichelleK 01-07-2002 10:25 AM

Goood Morning!

I am psyched this morning! I am going back to WW tonight...they have a special running so I don't have an excuse to wait! I am rearing to go! I need to learn that I don't need food...only a small amount for fuel. In the past I lived to eat...now I am going to eat to live! Eat healthy so my son will learn the same healthy habits as he grows up! I am sick and tired of being sick and tired! I did this once before and I know I can do it again!

Its great to see so many newbies on the block! This is a great group...they are fun, supportive and compassionate! I have so much fun reading the posts every day! I am going to make every effort I can to post here every single day! More than once if I can!

I need to get some work done right now so I will be back!!

In the meantime have a great day!
Michelle

Grannie39074 01-07-2002 03:14 PM

Welcome typerk. This group is wonderful they have really helped me. check in often

Afternoon all I had to take the son to the denist to have a tooth pulled today. Men are such babies:lol: And they finally called him to come back to work. He has been laid off since Thanksgiving.

Food is ok today.

What motivates me.

I am motivated to lose this weight by the new clothes I will be able to get when I lose it.:)

My DH motivates me by telling me how proud he is of me, and that he loves me.

I wore a pair of pantyhose yesterday for the first time in for ever. They were hard to get over my hips but I did finally. That really motivated me.

Well I'll go for now. More later

qsilver 01-07-2002 07:24 PM

Hey everyone :)

Ok, I'm back and ready to work. Sometimes my head gets screwed around backwards and I can barely seem to get myself out of bed.

I'm setting up my journalling program on the computer again and have already exercised and eaten decently today. I've caught up on reading all the posts here. I need to drink a few more glasses of water before the end of the night, but I'm not behind for the day. It feels good to be pointed the right direction!

Andria

LuckyLadyBug 01-07-2002 07:38 PM

Michelle I need to learn that I don't need food...only a small amount for fuel. You took the thoughts right out of my head!!!! Good luck at WW and let us know how it goes.

Welcome typerk....this is a great thread!

Andria How do you do your journaling? It is one of my down falls and am trying to find a way that will make it fun, if that's possible.:^:

2Cute Your daughter is sooooo lucky... I would have gone with her to take care of her, all you had to do is ask. ;)

Here is one from me to you!!!!

2cute2Bfat 01-07-2002 11:31 PM

Howdy All...

Ladybug... thanks for that big hug. It felt good. :)
My daughter's flight out of Dallas was at 4:30pm and it is a 9 hour flight... so she still isn't in London yet. She won't get there till about 1am our time, and I think it is 6am London time. I will feel much better when I know she has landed safe and sound. Then I can start worrying about her being alone in a strange place. LOL.
Actually I feel pretty confident in her abilities to take care of herself. She has a pretty good head on her shoulders. I am just putting her in the hands of my guardian angel until she gets home.
The problem with that is... Who is going to take care of me. :?:
I guess all of my guardian angels in here.

Hi Andria... good to see you so up and positive again. We are going to accomplish miracles this year. We are going to become NEW in 2002. ;)

Mary... congrats on the panty hose. It is neat when something that used to be too small fits again. I LOVE THAT FEELING !!!
I know exactly about grown men being big babies. LOL LOL

Michelle... sounds like you are getting back to positive thinking again. Don't you just miss it when it is gone. Welcome Back.
How is the babysitting idea going? Did you get any kids?
WW is a wonderful program. It will set a great example for your son.

Typerk... WELCOME TO OUR GROUP !!! I think you will love it here. I sure do. Don't worry about the recipe ...like we said in the introduction... those are just ideas to write on when you don't have anything special to say. You NEVER have to follow those ...they are only suggestions... not requirements.
I hope we can be of support to you.

Ladies... I have been one busy little gal today. CLEAN ING, cleaning and cleaning some more. ALL in my bedroom. Yes, my bedroom was THAT BAD !!!! I still am not done.
I am cleaning out tons of clothes. I threw away at least 3 large boxes of junk and 2 large boxes of garage sale stuff to sell. I may just donate..I really want it out of the house.

I never could get so much accomplished without the help of my oldest daughter. She is my legs for me. The walking kills me and there is so much to carry outside and to put up. I just don't know how I could do so much without her. She definitely is a guardian angel.
I have so much more to do tomorrow. Plus babysit my grandchild. I don't think I will get it all done. You may ask what got me so motivated.... LOL .... I found a new bedroom furniture I like A LOT !!! That will get you off your duff.

Well... My food was great AGAIN !!!!! I am so happy.
I have to warn everyone though. NO ONE likes my sprouts as a substitue for pasta... so you may not want to try it. Well.. unless like me, you really want to lose this weight BAD!!!!! LOL
I guess you could try bugs .... they are sugar free, fat free, carb free... and here just plain $$ FREE, LOL

Hi everyone,

Monday, monday.

2Cute, your daughter is fortunate to have the opportunity to live in London. Is she going to school or will be working? I wish I had an ounce of her courage to ace this weight thing. I purchased a new tape. Kathy Smith's March to Fitness. It's 30 minutes. I hope to use it between longer sessions every other day.

Andria, journalling is a great idea. I need to make major changes in my eating patterns.

I still have the "cough". Funny, it acts up at work. Allergic to work. What to do??? Everything is new. Paint, carpet....time will tell.

Day 1.
Keep on moving,
Malia

Here is my Tuesday Tip.

Make a plan
Would you ever get on a plane without knowing your destination?
No. Of course you wouldn't!
Dieting is no different.
We need a destination.
We need a target to aim for.
We need to be able to measure our progress.
So before dieting, decide what weight you want to be in:
2 weeks time
4 weeks time
6 weeks time
8 weeks time
And so on.
And then go for it!

Journaling...planning...WHY can't I enjoy it????? Does anyone have a tip for that?:?:

Hey everyone :)

Don't you hate how sometimes there are so many things spinning through your head that you can't manage to stay asleep? I decided to get up and do something about it instead of lying there analyzing everything to death. So, I'm here and getting my day started off on a positive note. :) Next I'm going to pull up DietPower and post my plans for breaky and lunch. That way I can see where I'm headed instead of where I've been. Sounds good so far! Thanks LLB for the reminder there. :)

LLB, you asked about what I do for journalling. Since I don't spend money on WW or anything else, I searched around for a while and bought a program called DietPower. There are a whole lot of free programs out there as well, but this is the first one I found that fit me. I'm a total number junkie, so logging my foods and watching the nutritional analysis stack up for the day becomes a fun obsession of sorts. When we rebuilt our computer I didn't put the program back on, thinking I didn't need it anymore. Wrong thinking, trust me. I need the visual aid.

Prism, I have that March to Fitness tape. It used to be fun on rainy days. Haven't dusted it off in a long time, though. Let us know what you think of it. :) Was also thinking you might want to take an antihistamine before heading to work for the next bit. Sometimes all that remodeling kicks up dust and molds, or it can just be the new stuff irritating your nasal passages and lungs. How annoying for you. But the antihistamine now might help head off bigger problems later.

2cute, you just need some huge *HUGS* for being such a sweet and loving mother. The new airport rules are so hard to live with when you are seeing someone off, even if you know it is for their own safety. Also, you are right. This is going to be a good year for all of us. I can feel it! Last year was a good one for groundwork. Now is time to put it all into action and blast this fat off once and for all. :) I'm still going to try the sprouts for pasta thing here since my little one can't have the wheat pasta. The rice and corn ones are sooooo expensive!

Mary, I've recently had a war with a pair of pantyhose... boogery things took nearly 5 minutes to get on, and I sure didn't dare breathe until they were off again! So, huge congrats to you on wearing yours. :D I'm laughing at myself, remembering how I didn't dare drink anything the whole evening because I didn't dare need a bathroom stop.

Michelle, You go girl! Food = Fuel! And you are right. The way we eat and exercise, the very way we live our lives, is a constant example to our children. It is so gratifying watching my 11 year old not caving in to her gf's who are already dieting. She tells them she has a healthy body shape for her age and she isn't going to start damaging her health now. I like to think what we are all doing here and in our personal lives is helping to break a chain of dieting and heartache for our children.

Typerk, Great attitude! Welcome to our group :)

That is about all I have time for right now, folks. Sincere apologies to everyone for not getting all the replies done. I miss having that kind of time. But my day is starting with a vengeance, and I'm not going to let it spin out of control!!!

Good Tuesday morning you all!

I did it! I went out in the rain, sleet and snow and joined WW again! I didn't stay for the meeting because the weather was getting bad. THere were soooo many people joining last night! I am going to plan to stay at my meetings each week! When I lost the 97 lbs I stayed for every meeting...it was my night out!

My Tuesday tip for this week:

Journal, Journal, Journal....it keeps you honest and it makes you more aware of how much you are actually putting in your mouth that day! Sometimes we forget that we ate something more than we should....also...drink that water! I know you all know this stuff...but it does work! If we follow the plan it works! We want instant gratification when it comes to weight loss...but just keep aware of your eating and before you know it...the weight will melt off!

Well I better get back to work today...we are moving part of our office downstairs so there is packing to be done! THe scary part is there is no storage space! Where will we put all this crap!??

Have a great OP day!

Michelle

Hey everyone!! Wow! Thread #119. I've really been gone a while. LOTS of new names here too.
Well, I guess maybe you have to hit the bottom before you can get yourself going again. I had just given up and was completely back to my old habits. I knew it just had to stop when I had 4 Zingers and leftover pizza for breakfast. UGH! I have been eating myself SICK over the past several weeks.

I have gained back 12 pounds now. My pants are VERY uncomfortably tight. I am still going through a very stressful time, and have been suffering insomnia and have been using the food to compensate for sleep. Whenever I would get sleepy again, I would eat and eat to get a temporary "rush". I absolutely have to start again.

I don't have any clothes over size 18 anymore. I had bagged them all up and put them in the garage. My MIL had been storing some stuff out there and when she moved it to her new house, my clothes went too. She showed up over here wearing my clothes!! I'm going to let it go though, cuz (and I hate to say this, it is evil of me) I'm happy to see her wearing them. 7 years ago she had her stomach stapled. She had been over 300 pounds. The next time we saw her, she was a size 5!!! All of a sudden she must have forgotten what is was like to be fat cuz she would make me so mad. She'd start handing me clothes saying things like, "I WAY too small for this. It's huge!! It should fit you though." and other rude fat comments. Well..... Now SHE is wearing my fat clothes!!!  HAHAHAHAHA    . She may have gotten her stomach stapled and lost a lot of weight, but she NEVER changed her eating and it's all coming back. I made no rude comments. I just smiled inside when my old clothes fit her. I suppose that's mean, but she really hurt me back then.

SO ANYHOO.....Here I am again. The stress in my life should calm a bit at the end of the week. I will have my bankruptcy hearing over with Friday (whew) and best of all, Saturday will be my last day at Pizza Hut. HOORAY!! That place has been one of my biggest problems. I LOVE pizza and breaksticks and garlic cheese bread and bring it home every night. It would be easier to say no if it wasn't FREE. Getting out of there will be a huge help. In the meantime, I am busy packing. My DH ships out to boot camp Feb. 27th and we have SO much preparation.

I won't try to catch up with everyone, but I wanted to say to 2CUTE: Congrats to you!! You sound like you have been doing great. Hope everything goes well for your daughter.
TT: Sounds like we're still in kind of the same boat. We just have to NOT GIVE UP. Cuz when we give up, we do dumb things like eating zingers for breakfast and gaining 12 pounds  . Anyhoo, we can do it!!

Now I know I've said this a zillion times before, but I really will try to keep up with posting. I still may be a little flakey until the end of the week, but I will try. I will also make a point of:
Drinking enough water!!
Writing in my journal!!
Watching my portions!!

Now that I have written a small book, I will wish everyone a good day and will check back later.

Howdy!

Good news/ bad news at my weigh-in this AM...The bad news is I gained a pound:( ...the good news is: I ONLY gained one pound since my last weigh in, 12/18! :o I can deal with a one lb gain over the holidays ...Hee hee, my sister gained 6! (She's got a LOT less to lose than I do, so let me enjoy the moment!) Sibling rivalry and all that...(I love her dearly!)

Here's my tip for Tuesday...Fitday.com has (for free) a site where you can keep track of your food intake, with nutrional breakdown, and you can journal there! Check it out...

I have to make this a quick post, I'm falling asleep at my keyboard here...worked last night, came home , got kids off to school, myself off to WW and now I must crash. Tonight is Cub Scouts (I'm the den leader) plus my daughter has dance class and DH is working, leaving me as sole cabby! Then back to work for me at 11:00... :dizzy:

I'll check in later if a get a chance. If not, have a great day, gang!

Hi all,

I am back. Saturday's w-i was good even though I gained 1 pound. I was so happy to only gain 1 pound. I am determined to get that off plus some. I am still exercising every day, and today I got up early at 4:45am and did 20 minutes on my bike, and plan to do 30 more minutes tonight.

I am journaling and banked 9 points yesterday. I am planning to bank tonight too.

I want my 45 pound star on Saturday, and plan to get it!

I am also trying to mix up my meal choices. Yesterday I tried corn torillas, with pizza sauce, low fat mozzarella, and mushrooms. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. I think I need more veggies.

Today I had garden burgers. I am so tired of the same stuff over and over again, and still being hungry.

Well, lunch is almost over and I still have emails to go through.
