I was on Depo for most of the time I was losing weight, so obviously it didn't have that effect on me. I also didn't have one single period at all in the whole time I was on Depo. I DID have other side effects, so had to stop it. I had my first period one month after stopping Depo! So, Depo obviously has different effects on different people.
I would agree with others that you may have to ease off a little until you get the bleeding sorted out. We have just had two people at work who were totally exhausted due to really long periods. They were simply losing too much blood to keep their energy levels up. One ended up having to have a hysterectomy and the other ended up in hospital on an 'iron' drip for a few hours. She is STILL not quite back to normal, but is improving. Perhaps do some research (or revisit your doctor) to make sure you are eating properly to balance the bleeding out a little, if possible. I would also ease up a little on the exercise, just for a little while, until your body is more 'normal'. I know, towards the end of my weight loss journey, I tried to increase my exercise to lose some more weight, and I ended up making myself quite ill, because I was OVER-exercising and my body ended up telling me that it had reached its limits. I hope you are feeling better soon. Take care, Zelma |
I myself am iron-deficient anemic... so I get very tired, my energy goes down, and pretty much all of my body functions take more work, especially when I have my period or have just ended it. (I have very heavy periods.) I take iron supplements for it, all the time, but it can cause constipation so I make an effort to eat a very high-fiber diet. Not saying this is the cause of your weight gain/plateau, but it could be. Maybe your body is just so tired inside that it can't work at losing weight? I am not a doctor so this is just a theory.

I did one depo shot and prior to getting the shot I asked my doctor about the claims to gaining weight with it. He told me that it does not slow your metabolism but it does make you want to eat more and that if I just watched what I put in my mouth and did not eat when I was not hungry then I would be ok. Unfortunately I did not heed this advise and I saw exactly what he mentioned I did eat like a feign with no control.
I would recommend what some of the ladies have metioned....taking a reall good inventory and journaling your food. I don't know much about the blood lose, but I hope that it gets better for you. |
