Splurge Day
Having a very sad day, which is translating to too many calories, so will start with a new Day One tomorrow. Still not super-high as some of my splurges have been, but higher than my plan. On the plus side, I did a nice fitness walk of 70 minutes that counts toward my goal of 1200 calories burned this week in exercise.
Weeesa: I'm very sorry about your loss and know how difficult this time must be for you and your DH. Please put all ideas of blame out of your head, as I know you realize that is a fallacy created by grief. Hope you have a good time at WW and come back and tell us about it. WW is a really sensible program, IMO. I've thought about joining in the past but never did. Jelynn: Congratulations on your 6th day and on being down 5! I like your motto: WE CAN DO IT!!! Tryin' Hard: Hello and wow ... 84 pounds gone last year! What a great way to start a millenium. What kind of high-fiber things do you eat? Do you add extra fiber to your food? I'm really working on fiber (not only is it healthful, it burns extra calories), which is hard for me to digest, but I'm getting better. I drink a lot of water and think it clears up my head and makes me feel better plus I live in Arizona, where we need to drink lots. One way I can drink more is to squeeze some fresh lemon or lime juice into it and drink it very cold. Doesn't need sugar when you get used to it. Morrigan: You're not alone in falling off the bandwagon; I keep doing it, too. But at least the wagon's heading in the right direction and we can hop back on. Onward, downward! :dizzy: |
Crone, you're an inspiration to all of us who have a bad day. You're not letting it turn into a bad six months!!
One high fiber food I like is a cereal called "Kashi to Good Friends." It has 8 grams in one serving and I mix it with bran flakes. The taste takes some getting used to -- they use the word "twigs" on the front of the box-- but when I eat it for breakfast, I'm not starving at 10AM! I also eat diet/high fiber bread. My local store-brand rye bread keeps me OP! It's filling and I feel like I'm eating real bread and not sawdust! Thanks for the H2O tips. I'm going home soon and will try it before dinner. Have a great day! |
Hey ladies! i have been reading up here for a few days and was hoping you'd let me jump in with you!:^: I too have tried the To good Friends cereal and i liked it mixed with LF yogurt! Adds some crunch to it!! I am hoping to lose 12-17 lbs by this summer and am ready to start slow, considering that i have about 5 months to do it in! My V-Day goal is 133 which gives me a little over a month to lose 4 lbs. My plan it to keep track of my calories (under 1500 on weekends and under 1300 on weekdays) and to do at least a little exercise everyday. I'm having a hard time getting motivated for the exercise. Right now i'm doing chores around the house and thinking....i guess i could go jump rope or hop on my bike.....dang its cold outside!
Swimmer 161(8/00)/ 125(4/01)/ 137(1/02)/133(2/14/02)/ 120-125 goal by 6/1/02!!! |
Welcome Swimmer! I really like that you up your caloric count on the weekend! That's sounds so LIVABLE! I'm really determined to keep this weight off and that sounds like a plan that would really help with maintenance!
Try to think of the exercise as a new habit, and remember, it takes 17 days for a behavior to become a habit! I've been walking every day since July, and when I couldn't go this a.m. because it was so icy, my body was itching to go all morning! Finally made it out at lunchtime and my body was so happy! Keep up the good work, all! We can do it! |
Day One
My new Day One seems to be going well so far. Finished eating at 1765 and did 30 minutes of weights this morning.
Tryin' Hard: I've had the Good Friends also and like it, especially eaten dry as a snack. I mix some raisins in and it's quite good. Swimmerbabe: Hello! Sounds like you have a sensible plan going. I also try to exercise everyday and I count cleaning as exercise, too, because I make it a workout. I jump around, lift things over my head, do lunges, swing the mop, etc., all without stopping, so it counts as a cardio or circuit training workout. I miss no opportunity to burn extra calories! Got to run. Onward, downward, everyone! |
i'm back.....
hello all. i'm back here, finally. things have been rough since thanksgiving. well, the holidays sucked, ate too much, gained back all i had lost, didnt' have time for the gym, etc...now i have a sprained foot and ankle (and i am trying to work around that), and my personal/emotional life is a mess, which is making me want to eat all the time.
i'm pulling myself back together some, and really trying to exercise control again. i have been doing pretty well since the 2nd (i think). my current goal is to get at least 10 minutes of motion a day (wow-just a few months ago i was at the gym for a few hours 4 days a week :( ). i am hoping to go to the gym tomorrow, and hopefully my foot will be ok with that. i am currently staring at a tray of shortbread someone left on the reception desk (where i am now at work) and i am trying not to have a 3rd piece. i guess i'll do some catch-up reading and try to keep my mind off the food. take care everyone and i hope i keep coming around-i do much better that way. good luck to all |
Day 2, Boo-Hoo!
Crashed again! :D
Can't seem to get a streak going right now. Too much stress. But hope springs eternal (I'm told) and I'll be back tomorrow with Day One. Today's binge began in the mall candy shop. I'd had this craving thing going for a marshmallow bar like the one described in a book I'd been reading. I stood in line in this old-fashioned candy store and saw the bar I wanted, but the lady ahead of me kept dithering over her purchase and I had to get back to do surveys, so I just left. I wandered around looking for substitutes for the bar I wanted, then went to the office, where I told this story to a lady I work with, who gave me two pieces of candy. Thought I was back in control ... but life goes on; stress plus the unrequited marshmallow bar equal lots of calories. Exercise proceeded as normal, a 30-minute aerobics tape. Hello, Sychie: Sorry about your sprained foot. I'm glad you are back and hope you made it through the day without the third piece of shortbread! :) |
Hey Ladies!! Glad to hear everything is going well (or better) for ya'll! I'm doing alright i guess...yesterday was fantastic, today was okay. I find that as long as i'm not at home i do great...i don't think about food, i'm somewhat active, and even if i'm not, i'm not stuffing my face with food i don't even care about.
My number one goal is to give up my favorite fast food resturaunt, except for twice a month. I've been doing really well on eating good stuff. Now i just have to get the exercise thing down. I already do weights and stretching, i just have to work on the cardio. I really love swimming *in case you can't tell ;) * but i am only able to get to my pool once a week. Perhaps i could work on getting into a class or swimming at a different pool. Unfortunately pool hours and my work/school hours do not co-operate very well. Oh well...i guess that's just something i have to work towards. I just can't wait for my clothes to start getting looser. I'm working hard because i'm basically working toward those last 10-15 lbs (or 17) but you know!! Have a good day tomorrow and good luck@! Katie |
