Plateau Or What?!!
I am starting to get very discouraged! I have been losing weight steadily since the beginning of the year, but here recently I have been stuck around 215 for a month. My exercise of choice has been walking, but around the first of July I started doing TaeBo. So now I walk 4 miles and do 45 mins of TaeBo. Do you think I have hit a plateau or could it be that I am building muscles that I didn't have before? I have noticed that my clothes are fitting better! I was so happy when I got into a 16 last month but the other day I bought 2 pairs of size 14 and they fit! So I know that something is happening.
I admit that I am a scale worshipper! I weigh everyday and I have been told by several people to get rid of them but I just can't. I'm afraid that I will get off track and gain my weight back. If this is a plateau how can I break it? or could it be muscle mass? :?: |
Sounds like muscle. Invest in a tape measurer (like the seamstress kind). They sell them at Target and Wal Mart for cheap. And measure weekly. You will see a difference even though it's not a weight difference. It took me 6 weeks to lose any weight but I lost a lot of inches!

i would be happy tp be getting into smaller clothes regardless of what the scale says. Smaller clothes = loss. So I would also think you are not at a plateau. Great job!

Thanks you guys! It probably is muscle but I'm the type that needs to see proof on the scales. I'm going to try to break the habit and just weigh once a week or ever other week. I found a seamstress tape measure in my cabinet and I'm going to start using it.

Hey there butterfly. Congrats on all the weight you have already lost. 71 lbs?!?!!?!? That's PHENOMENAL!
Losing inches is FABULOUS and fitting into smaller clothing as well. You must feel just great. You're obviously doing something right. Don't be discouraged. You are doing a wonderful thing for yourself. Sometimes that scale can be quite stubborn. You mentioned your exercise routine but didn't mention your food plan. Has that changed at all during the past month? Maybe it's time to tweak things a bit in that area. Get back to us and let us know, we're here to help you. :) |
