Howdy, everyone! Gosh, the holiday's almost over! Other than my crazy week before Christmas with all the funeral stuff, this holiday has been rather laid back for me. I'm happy to say I spent alot of 'me' time this week.
Christmas Eve I had my mom over for dinner. Christmas Day she came for breakfast and my oldest made French toast. Later in the day, we went to my IL's for dinner and gifts. I received a few DVD's for Christmas so I got up early on Wednesday and Thursday and enjoyed a movie each morning before everyone else got up. Thursday afternoon I put on the Recognition Reception at the nursing home and later went to my BIL and SIL's for gifts. Friday we had all the neighbors in. Saturday we laid around all day too. Wow, a whole week of just pure enjoyment! It has been wonderful! I've decided not to have anyone in for New Year's Eve and we're all going to see Lord of the Rings. I've had my mom and IL's over every year for the last 5 or so on New Year's Eve and I just don't feel like it. Selfish, I guess! 2cute: Wow, I'm impressed with your newfound computer literacy! :) I hope you still know how to do stuff after your daughter goes back to school. Mary: Hope you get your burner installed. My oldest has one and I keep him busy burning CD's for me! LuckyLadyBug: Isn't it something how we feed our heads stuff and that's the outcome we receive? You get what you expect. So the key is to keep feeding ourself positive motivations, "You can do it", "You are beautiful", "You're a winner", etc. I heard once that the mind can not hold a positive and a negative thought at the same time. So we need to keep pumping in those positives so the negatives have no room to roam!! Gonna run. Laundry is calling. Love to all. "I am old enough to know that victory is often a thing deferred, and rarely at the summit of courage...What is at the summit of courage, I think, is freedom. The freedom that comes with the knowledge that no earthly thing can break you." - Paula Giddings |
Hi everybody.
Thin.... I hate to disagree with you BUT.... my mind not only holds both positive and negative thoughts.... THEY FIGHT in my head too. :dizzy:  Thankfully the postive usually wins. LOL I am glad you had such a nice week. Mine has been pretty good too. I have had a new years eve party here forever... but not this year. I am looking forward to the time off. I have no DVD's or CD burners. I am merely learning that Ctrl + C = copy. I always used the edit at the top of the screen before. LOL And Thin ... you are right... I hope I remember this stuff too. LOL Well...we never got our mud facials. My daughter showed me her friends web sites instead. They were hilarious. LOL. Oh to be young again... sigh. Luckylady... aren't those insights eyeopeners. My husband NEVER thought he had a weight problem.. only me. He weighs nearly 300lbs. Of course he is 6' and I am only 5'3". And I look at old photos now and wish I were that fat now. LOL Mary... we almost have the same birthday. I am Abe Lincolns co-partner. You never said if you like Lord of the Rings or not. Andria... I too sailed through Christmas to find my problem the last 2 days. Thankfully I am back on program again. You will be too. I am sooo guilty of thinking.... "Jan 2nd, that is when I really need to get serious". I just don't want to wait till then anymore. I don't want to gain and just have to re-lose it again. Cieera... How are you doing? I have 2 daughters in college. One is 20 and the other 22. They both have a weight problem so I know what a struggle it is while in school. Hang in there. It can be done. Susie... you haven't posted in awhile. How did Andrew like Christmas this year? He is old enough now to really get into unwrapping gifts. I came to a realization last night. Eating can be FUN !!!! It is fun to go out to eat with my daughters. It is fun getting popcorn at the movies. It is fun stopping at Braums for double brownie fudge sundae. It is fun cooking goodies for everyone to ahhhh over. But it is NOT fun being fat !!!! So... I am having to learn... 1- moderation 2- new ways of cooking and eating 3- other ways of having fun. When I learn all of these lessons I can have double the fun without gaining weight. :D Well friends... it is time for me to go start cooking for the gang. I have a house full and they want a fish fry. I have my work cut out for me. We all love crappie. ( pronounced craw-pee) ... I didn't want anyone think I was eating CRAP!!! Love you ALL.....bye for now. |
Hey everyone :)
I was just in here to read really fast, but I had to toss a comment back for Thin. Chick, you wouldn't have thought that PB&J image was so cute if you knew what she was actually doing! Little twinkie had been cleaning her hands on the couch long before she let me know... Gosh, being a mom can be so much fun. And yes, she actually did survive. I honestly don't have time to stay and write more. Small child is getting up into the snack cupboard right now. I should weigh 110 the way she keeps me running! Andria |
Thought I would say hi before my company gets here. I have relatives staying with me for my aunts funeral tomorrow.
2Cute you have lost over 126 pounds !!!! WOW You are one of my new heros I haven't eaten much of anything since Thursday but it's because I have had the flu so ..... I did think it would be nice to be able to "call" on that sick to the stomache feeling when we need it to keep us from eating...NOW how sick is that thought!!!!! I have to learn where all the cute images are you attach. They are fun. What's everyone doing for New Years Eve? |
Ready for more change
Hi Friends
I have been away for a long time and I am really needing you all now. For the last month I have been through a rough spot. First I get sick for about 2 weeks and missed some days of school than my husband and my youngest son got sick but my baby ended up staying in the hospital for 3 days because he had bronchitis and with asthma that made it worse. My two teenagers decided to try alcohol, one got put in jail for two days and the other was also caught but let go into our care. I think they both have learned their lesson now. I am confident in my parenting and feel that they let peer pressure get to them. Ok for weight loss, well I know I haven't lost in about 6 weeks since that was the last time I did my walking. I also have not weighed in at my group for about 4 weeks also. As far as I can tell on home scale is that I've gained just about 5 pounds back. Through all of these things that have happened I believe that things could have been worse, so I am thankful to GOD for giving me the strength to get thru them. And for the new year coming I will succeed. Have a HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR and I will see you all lighter. Joanne |
Hi there...
I'm new here, looking for a place to settle in, and I was attracted to your "handle," 2cute2Bfat! I love the topic of the day, but I'm afraid this was no soup & salad day for me! Actually, I DID have salad TWICE today, no soup, but that piece of chocolate pecan pie will disqualify me! Ahhh, it's the end of the year... I gotta get this stuff outta my house! and not in my belly! I'm a member of Weight Watchers, have lost 7 lbs since starting in November...yeah, I know not too much, but I DID have a vacation since then and a visit from the in-laws, AND the holidays, so I intend to get down to serious business now. I weigh 254 lbs (last weigh in) and plan on losing 100 lbs in the year 2002! Next Christmas I will NOT be receivng size 2X flannel jammies, it will be something silky and slinky instead, mark my words! I am a 44 yo married mother of two...(16 yo dd, 10 yo ds). I work nights in a hospital as a unit secretary, (for what ever that's worth), should be asleep now, I have to work tonight, but I felt that I needed some inspiration after eating the pie. I'm not going to obsess over it, will move on as 2cute said. This thread caught my eye, so if you guys want another along for the ride, here I am! Happy New Year! Kat:spin: |
Change your WOW to Whoa... LOL
LuckyLady....I have to start with correcting a BIG misunderstanding. I did NOT lose 126 lbs.
Boy do I wish I had. I am not sure how I mislead you but let me apologize. I have only lost 30 since Oct 1st. I guess I will have to wait and earn that hero title. LOL But I absolutely plan to have lost it by next Christmas. :D I hope you get feeling better real soon. WELCOME KAT .... I am glad my "handle" caught your attention. I tease that I am married to 2fat2Bcute. Congratulations on your 7lb loss during the holidays. That is super!!!! Many in here are on WW and they can giove you lots of tips. The best one they give is "journal" what you eat. The best I give in drinking that water. Together we are ALL going to lose 100lbs each in 2002. Won't that be SUPER !!!!! It will take dedication and commitment. It will take a new attitude. It will take making good choices. But it is possible and I have every intention of doing it. Welcome back Joeanne. It is good to see you again. Isn't parenting the pits sometimes. It is a good thing our children are born so darn cute and loveable because we need those memories to get us through the rest of their lives. Hang in there. I am looking forward to Jan2nd. The main food ordeal will be mostly over. My college student daughters will still be home until mid January so that means food I don't want around... but it will still be easier. Andria... enjoy that little one. Peanut butter and jelly is nothing... just wait and see. :p My 22 year old spilled an entire bottle of fingernail polish remover over my dining room table. I teased her that I know what I will be getting for my birthday... a tablecloth to cover up the huge stain. Kids.... you gotta love um. It is 10pm here. Not quite Motivation Monday yet but since I don't have a recipe.... here comes the motivation. Ladies.... Don't wait till January 2nd to make your plans. Start today writing out your game plan for losing. Get the notebooks to do your journalling. Buy a case of bottled water or at least a six pack that you can refill. Six 20oz bottles a day is 120oz. If you are going to exercise... get those good shoes to support your feet. If you don't have a scale go find one to weigh on so you know your starting weight on Jan 2nd. GEt those 1 point snacks ready, and get out those recipes and increase your veggie intake. And don't forget to feed your MIND too. Positive affirmations. Read success stories. Read those WW booklets they are always handing out. The library is full of free books. Richard Simmons has a book of success stories. All diet books do. In short.... as they say.... Some people wake up and "wish" they were thin. While others wake up and work their butts off. Let's work ladies... let's make 2002 OUR YEAR !!!!!! |
Morning all
Today is my sons birthday he is 31. I can't believe my baby is 31. Motivation Monday. Ladies lets all make this the year we DO lose the weight we want. I know we can do it if we all stick together. All of you have already helped me so much. Lets motivate each other. I will get to 200 by Feb 14 the day I turn 50:o I made soup last night for dinner. DH ate 3 bowls so it must have been good. Welcome Kat and welcome back Joeanne. Well I'll go for now. Ok ladies OP all day and drink that water |
Good morning everyone,
I need to read all the Motivation Monday posts that I can. I blew it last night at my DD NIA Kwanzaa celebration and ate 4 cc cookies. I had gone 210 days cheat free prior to that. I feel like I have lost something very valuable but I know I need to pick up and move on and keep going and not give in. You ladies are always so helpful to eachother. I read all your posts and get lots of support from them. Thanks for listening to me whin. |
Hi everyone! Happy New Year's Eve! I have opted to not have company this evening and with that I have opted not to have to get out all the extra food and hor duerves that are in the freezer! Thank goodness! Not another night of eating non-stop! :D
My Monday Motivational Tip comes from a newspaper article I read this morning: Throw out your old eating habits along with the stale cookies! All of my holiday food is going to disappear today! 2cute: And Control V = paste, and Control X = cut, and Control P = print! I'm not being a smart@ss, I just learned that stuff from my son not too long ago! It sure does make things quicker though. Andria: Ummm, the couch. I'm soooo sorry! You're right, not so cute! But I agree with 2cute, God gives you children as babies so you learn to love them before they get bigger! :) LuckyLadyBug: What a lousy time to have the flu! [[[hugs]]] Hope you're feeling better real soon. Joanne: Welcome Back! Oh My Gosh, you've had rough time! [[[BIG HUGS]]] I'm glad your life is getting back together. Sometimes teenagers need to learn the hard way. Hope you and hubby are feeling better and that your baby is all well again too. It sounds like you did real well holding your own with eating during all these disasters which is quite an accomplishment in itself! Katrina: Welcome to our group. Of course we would love to have you join us. Don't discount the 7 pounds since November. That is nothing to sneeze at with the holidays and all. Now it should be alot easier for all of us to get really with the program. Mary: Enjoy your son's birthday with him. What a nice way to end the year! Tazmani: 4 cookies! Big Deal! It could have been alot worse! Don't beat yourself up. Today is a new day and tomorrow will be a new year. Wipe your slate clean and start again! Well girls, got some paperwork to get done, so I will say goodbye for now. "It's lucky happenstance that women's liberation came along just when it did so that women can participate in the world arena and rescue the planet. Just in the nick of time." - Gretchen Cryer |
JUST WANT TO WISH ALL OF YOU A......
|
Just wanted to say Happy New Year!
I will be back full force with the new year! My resolution is to get off 100 lbs in 2002! I did it once I can do it again! I also want to welcome the newbies on the block and the MIA's back. We all need your posts so keep coming back! See you all next year! Michelle |
Hey all...
Boy, I just poured my little heart out, typing all kinds of things to share with you guys and with the inadvertant click of a key...POOF! ...gone... Suffice it to say that a new attitude is what I'm arming myself with for this battle. My head is held high, shoulders are back, chest out...I tell myself frequently that I WILL lose this weight this year. Not maybe, not I'm gonna really try this time, not I hope so, NOT NOT NOT! No more maybes! It's all about doing what it takes, one itty bitty baby step at a time til the job is done. AND... I'm going to enjoy the process! Here's my Motivational Monday thought for all... I can... All of the progress of civilization is due to the constructive thinking of people. The record of history is brilliant with the deeds of men and women who said "I can," while it is silent for the most part concerning those who said "I can't." Positive people believe that it is better to fail carrying out a project than to not fail because they have not tried. I can't help but think of tazmani (Hope I got your name right!) who lamented that she ate 4 cookies after 210 days of not cheating...please do me a favor and DO NOT think of that as a failure, it sounds like a reward to me for a fantastic job!! Well, Happy New Year to all...have fun whatever you choose to do tonight! Me? I'll be working...Yee ha! kat |
Kat I loved "Next Christmas I will NOT be receivng size 2X flannel jammies, it will be something silky and slinky instead, mark my words!" I would like to make that pledge also... I, as 2Cute suggested will be starting my planning tonight.
2Cute I was going back and reading all the old threads so maybe I got something mixed up....so I will encourage you all 2002, AND congratulate you again on losing over 100 pounds 12/31/2002. [b/Thinthinker[/b] I still have a little bit of the flu so I will be having a quiet night tonight. You are the Christmas junky, arent' you? At my aunt's funeral today the church was still all decorated for Christmas with the big tree so I thought that was perfect for her. Well, off to start my plan...will check in later. |
Starting new thread...
Just came in to check out our thread and saw we are already at 29 so I will start a new thread before heading out the door. Nothing special tonight. It will be the first time in years that hubby and I are spending alone together. Out for an early movie, then a nice thick juicy steak dinner, and end at the casino for an hour or so. Probably will be home before midnight. LOL
Do not reply here... instead go to the next thread... # 117 |
