if someone who fits into one subgroup can post on another without a lot of flak and depressing rejection. For example I'm in my late forties but for various reasons ( no kids, still enjoy a good brewski now and then) I can relate better to the twenty-something gals. I also have a basically young outlook on life except when overwhelmed by depression.

I don't think 3FC has any "rules" about it--you can post wherever you feel you fit in. And how does anyone know your age unless you tell them?

Likewise, just because you are a certain age doesn't mean you HAVE to visit or post in a forum for that age group.

Don't worry about rejection. I often visit groups that don't quite fit my exact situation. For instance, I peruse the Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) forum because even though I haven't had WLS, I can relate on some level to those that have had issues with losing weight over the years and often WLS people are or have been morbidly obese and it is a tough road no matter how you choose to lose weight.

For me, even though I'm 32 and started 3FC in my late 20s and don't have kids, I don't think I could relate well to the 20s group for some reason so I never visited there. If on the other hand you find yourself relating to them, I think they would be happy to have you.

How about if you look for a group who is 'doing' what you 'do' rather than someone in the same life stage. For instance ... lifters come in all ages and family situations ... calorie counters? weight watchers? same thing.

Sometimes I click on interesting topics from the main web page and never know WHERE I will wind up! lol The other day I seen a topic for the NSV for July and thought I was in the 100 lb club. I didn't have anything new to add but said congrats to everyone. After I posted I realized I was in the 20's room. haha I was wondering for a minute where my post from the previous day had gone and why no one looked familiar!

Same here, I always check "New Posts" or "Today's Posts," so I'll often respond before I realize which group I'm posting to.

Me too. Click on 'new posts' everyday.

Same here I just read the "New Posts" and reply when I have something to say. I'm 33 but half the time I relate to the 20s people and half the time the older crew.... I'm like young at heart but mature if that makes any sense. Most of the time I just stay out of the age-range groups though.

Marlu~I'll post where ever I feel I have a voice. I've posted in the UK Chicks (and I'm not from England--I reside here in the US). I've posted in the 100 pound club and I have not lost more than 30 pounds. Although I may feel more "comfortable" in some places than others, I don't feel like there are rules to keep me from posting where ever I want.

Same as Alinnell. I post most frequently in the Featherweights forum but I'm not really a featherweight. I sometimes post in the 100lb club because I read there a lot as it's a great forum. Nobody's ever made me feel unwelcome or pointed out that my stats don't fit.
