I think I inspired my mom

  • Well I have been talking to my mom alot since this journey started and I think its rubbed off on my mom. See about a year ago my mom hurt her back pretty bad at work. So she has not worked and been going to a doctor. And for quite some time they were giving her shots in her back. I think it was steroids because of the amount of weight she gained just from the shots alone. She won't even swim in her pool with a bathing suit on now because she hates the weight gain.

So I have been calling her everytime I a drop a pound and she has been asking how I did it and I told her. Well I called her last night to tell her about the WATP tapes and how this would be perfect for her and that I would buy her a tape if she wanted so she could try it. Well she told me she bought some new walking shoes and she is gonna start walking her property (1 acre) everyday to get some exercise in.

So yay mom. And also my husband says that if I drop my weight he wants me to help him lose his weight. He is 5'9 210 lbs.
  • Glad you are rubbing off on yours. Mine made the comment the other day (when I said I had lost about 8 lbs)..."Well, you won't KEEP it off!" Do you ever notice people get really resentful of other losing weight while they have some to lose themselves?
  • Great job! I think that we can inspire people without being overbearing, and that`s by showing that it can be done!

My boyfriend started going to the gym this week. He only needs to lose 20-30pounds, and I am so proud of him. I actually got teary eyed when we were both on the couch groaning over our sore muscles.
  • Yay for inspiring moms and others. I know when i was losing weight last year, my mom started going walking every day after work. Even to this day, she goes after work. She isn't losing weight though. I keep telling her, she needs to go online to fitday and plug in all her foods so she can really see "HOW" much she is eating. I know she thinks she's not eating that much, but calories add up if we aren't writing down every morsel we put in our mouths. I showed her the website, so maybe one day she'll sit down and start working on it.
  • I went to visit my sister for a week in June and introduced her to 3FC and fitday. Just the other day, she set up her fitday account and plugged in all her foods. She thought she was eating pretty healthy and was shocked that she had eaten almost 3000 calories that day! The next day was 2500, the next was about 2000 and she's trying to stay around 1800 and has already lost 4 pounds. She was amazed at how aware she has become of what she is eating and how much. She's been talking of her calories as if it is money and makes decisions based on what she wants to spend her calories on and if it is a bargain or a waste of her money!
My momma didn't raise no dummies!
