Helping Us Feel Better
Hey Everyone,
This is for everyone who had been reading "Social Anxiety" and "Holding Back". I think its time that we look at ourselves and appreciate what we have. Is it okay to love yourself even if you are overweight. So I am challenging everyone who reads this to come up with 5 things they love about themselves. Here's mine: 1.My Eyes 2.My body proportions 3.My enormous laugh 4.My feet 5.My shoulders-I have nice shoulders It took me some time to come up with these. Its sad that I struggled to find 5 things I love about myself. I think maybe a lot to do with weight loss is being in the right state of mind. Anyone? |
1. My eyes
2. My sense of humor 3. The way I've always made everyone feel comfortable; I'm very friendly and personable. 4. My legs 5. My lips You know... it actually only took me, like, 30 seconds to come up with that. Pretty strange for the person who started the social anxiety thread, huh? ;) |
1. My sense of humor
2. My skin 3. My smile dang. Only 3. I need to go sit in a corner and think of two more I can add. Pardon me. ;) |
I have nice legs, feet and hands
I have a good sense of humor I am friendly I am smart I have some artistic talent |
5 things huh??
Okay....I'll try. 1) the shape of my lips 2) the shape of my face (when it's not covered in fat, i actually think I have a pretty face. 3) I am easy to get along with, and loving and compassionate and friendly. 4) my slender fingers ( I wear a size 5 ring) 5) my height...i think 5'6" is the perfect height (Not to offend anyone else out there shorter or taller than that...I am just happy with it.) And may I add...that was very hard. Not that I don't like myself, but to think of 5 things about myself that I do like was not easy. I don't usually sit around thinking about what I do like about myself, usually just the things I don't like. I got to number 4 and stalled for almost 5 minutes to come up with number 4 & 5. :o |
1. I have pretty hazel eyes
2. I know more about Kingdom Hearts than my friend who got me into it! (I can name all of the Organization members in order with their element and name!) 3. I have cute little feet 4. I'm the first one my neighbor comes to for homework help 5. My hair is a pretty golden color |
Hmmm...ok, here goes!
1. My lips 2. My eyes 3. My sense of humor 4. My hair 5. My ankles (when they are not bloated! LOL!) That was easier than I thought it might be...! Cris |
I have an idea. We should pick one asset and highlight it. In my case, I have nice feet, but I don't take very good care of them. I will make time in the next few days to give myself a pedicure and use bright red nail polish.
|
1. I have a witty sense of humor. :D
2. I'm smart, dagnabbit! :p 3. I think, generally speaking, I'm cute. 4. I'm a pretty even keel, relatively laid-back person. I don't have wild mood swings, things don't stress me out too much. :) 5. I think I have a good dose of common sense and I tend to let my head control things...keeps me out of trouble! |
Good idea Gailr42...I guess since i already wear makeup and lipstick...I guess i should treat myself to a manicure. I already have nice, long fingernails, so i just need to get them shaped up and painted and moisturized.

I love so many things about ME!
Here's some physical things, because it's what I need to remind myself of most: I have beautiful strawberry blonde hair, nearly to my waist. I have very clear and unwrinkled skin on my face. My facial features are very proportionate. I LOVE my cleavage! I am proportionate, with an hourglass figure (Hey, it's a BIG hourglass, but an hourglass all the same! ) . |
WOHOOOO!!! I don't know about you all but I felt so good reading all of the other things people cherish about themselves. I think its a good idea when you look in the mirror and see all the negative things, that you take a step back and remind yourself about all the amazing things.
Kudos Everyone |
It's amazing how difficult it is to find five things I like about myself! I can name a hundred things I hate.
1. I ALWAYS make people feel comfortable. (even if it's at my own expense) 2. I'm a good wife and mom. 3. I come to work every day and do an excellent job. 4. I have a great sense of humor. 5. I'm smarter than I let people know. (that's actually a symptom of #1 on this list). I can't really list anything physical because I do not like my looks right now, but I'm working toward fixing that! http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/tulip-...5/165/305/.png |
Let's see...
1. My eyes (their my mother's and I love them) 2. My sense of humor 3. My shoulders 4. My creativity 5. My ability to write Oh, after I got to three then things got hard! EEK! |
This is a good thread. I love my...
*eyes *hair *hands *legs, probably the only part of my body that stays nice even when I gain weight. *skin |
Hmm this a nice thread!
1. My eyes (i'm sure you can tell I love my eyes by my photo... and before anyone asks... yes that is me... AND I took it myself because I'm an amateur fashion/portrait photographer) 2. My waist - it has a nice curve 3. My sense of humour 4. My hair 5. My eyebrows... I guess. |
A very good thread. And a wonderful photo, serenab.
1. my creativity 2. my independence 3. my sense of humor 4. my logic 5. my honesty |
ugh, this is tough. I'm another one hwo could list dozens of things I dislike about myself. (Was going to say 'hate' but I am trying hard to be more positive or at least less negative.) :(
physical things are really hard to pick out b/c I was made to feel ugly for years and years when I was young. I feel awkward and ill-at-ease in my body no matter what size it is. o.k. (gulp) here goes: My eyebrows (don't need plucking to look civilized) My eyes (I like the colour and shape) My shoulders (don't look too fat) um, I think that's it non-physical things are a wee bit easier:
oops, I cheated! :p that was more than five :carrot: |
Yay for cheating :carrot: This is the right place for it ;)
|
Oh my gosh... this is such a wonderful, beautiful thread!
And I am going to have to spend some serious 'me' time trying to figure out why I can't come up with even... one. :( Thank you, seriously, for making me think. |
Ah... you mean I have to think? :dizzy:
Things I like about myself RIGHT NOW!!! 1. Intelligence :book2: 2. Good listener :listen: 3. Good cook :hun: 4. I'm just a nice human being :goodvibes: 5. Creativity :wizard: I've always told myself that I will be worthy "when ..." Thanks for reminding me of the real measure of a woman (or man). :chin: |
What I like about me -
1. I'm a good wife, mother and friend 2. I love my hair 3. I love my hands 4. I am smart 5. I am resilient |
- My hands/wrists. They're actually pretty lean and nice to look at.
- My shoulders and shoulderblades. - The way muscles roll under my skin in my forearms. (Yes, I'm that shallow.) - My ears. - Boobies! Smooth and big. They're not the most perfect thing in the world, and I need to wear a bra no matter what, but that's something I'm never ashamed to show off. :D I could probably add more regarding non-physical stuff, but I wanted to try to list physical bits only, because it's probably what would be the most problematic bunch of stuff to list. (Not that I hate/despise the rest of my body. It's just... there. Neither totally ugly nor beautiful to look at, I suppose. But then, it's been more than two years since I've been at my highest weight, and back then, I remember I wasn't able to look at it in a positive perspective.) |
5 things I like about me?
-although I'm not thin I am damn strong! (and have lots of stamina) -I have a pretty face -I like my shoulders -I enjoy my hair -I have an optimistic outlook on life :D |
oh catnhorses....i am sure you are very beautiful and how awful that you never felt that way as a child. My middle daughter who is 7, she is a little on the chuncky side...not fat, but a little chunky. Her grandma on her daddy's side tells her she needs to go on a diet. OOOOOOhhhhhh.....that makes me so mad. Every time my daughter says anything, i am soooo quick to tell her how beautiful she is....not just on the inside, but on the outside too. I do plan to talk to her pediatrician before school comes back in and find out how many calories my darling should be eating in a day and i'm going to set up an account for her on fitday and log in the foods i am going to be feeding her and see if i can help her not to be gaining anymore weight. i don't want her to grow up overweight and start her period at the tender age of 9 or 10. But that is a little off the subject of what i was really going to say. actually, you reminded me of another physical feature that i do like about myself.
My eyebrows. I am always soooo happy that i don't have to pluck them!! I just don't think that is something i could ever do to myself. I like the shape, the size and the fullness of them. Actually they are not real full so i like that too. And they are a nice color. NOt too light and not too dark. Wisher...i wish i could like my shoulders. There's nothing wrong with them...i just think i have too much fat on my upper body that they look wide. I can't wait to lose a few more inches up top and then i will feel much better about my shoulders. I do like my forearms. I think they are a very nice, small size....unlike my upperarms which are fat and flabby. I have small wrist too. Kery...babe....whatever you like about your body and makes you feel good about it is not shallow. If you liked the shape and size of your toes...that's okay, because it makes you feel good about yourself. So there is nothing wrong with the way your muscles roll on your forearms. :-) rubberlegs...there must be at least one thing you like about your physical self. The color of your hair, the shape of your eyes.....something. Come on HeatherAngel...you have at least 5 good physical things about you. There is something beautiful about everyone....You can do it!! |
