Odd fat storage?

I know this is weird, but I have this odd little fat pocket at the top of my right calf. I don't have it on my left. It's like the chubb on my thighs, but on my calf? It's not new, showed up with 2nd baby weight gain (she's now 4  ) and its def fat, not hard or a tumor or anything. Has anyone else had this? Does it go away as you get closer to your goal?

sorry...no clue about that. You sure about it being a fat pocket? Did you ask your doctor to look at it?? I dont' know what to say about it.:?:

That does sound odd--but it could be a vein. Ask your doctor. Also, there is a type of fatty tumor called a lipoma--it's benign--but sometimes people get them.

Is it hard? What does it feel like? Can you move it? Does the skin over it move? How much has it grown since you've gotten it? You really should go see your doctor though.

Could it be a lipoma? (a benign fatty tumor) I just had a large one removed from my chest wall a couple of weeks ago. It was surgery (general anesthesia, etc.) but mine was rather large and I had to be under. I think they sometimes remove these things when you're under local. Could it be one of those?

I had a large fatty pocket on my right forearm and a couple of them on my tummy. After an MRI the Dr. figured out they were benign fatty tumors. I can no longer detect them since losing weight.

It's probably worth having a doc look into it - since fat cells can turn into tumors/cancer too (lipoma/liposarcoma, respectively), though that's one of the rarer kinds of growth/cancer.

I had one on my upper arm, and my doctor called it a fat tumor (as in lump or mass, not as in cancer). And said they were common and not dangerous, and occured where fat didn't deposit evenly for one reason or another (sort of like an EXTREME cellulite. He said losing weight would diminish them, but might not elliminate them completely (especially the one caused by the scar tissue)

I had been in a car accident several months before, and the seat belt caused bruising and internal scarring, which prevented fat in the area from distributing evenly, so it sort of bunched up on one side of the scar, so on the outside it looked like a big lump. I also have one on the other side (no scar tissue) but it is much smaller, and just a result of uneven fat distribution.

Still, considering there are other more serious possibilities, having a doctor look at it, seems like a good idea.

Thanks all for the replies. I had no idea there were such things as fat tumors. It's not hard or anything - its just like a little fat roll but just on the one leg. I will go in and have it checked though just to make sure. :)
