increase in triglycerides
 

Hello,

I don't know if this is the appropriate place for my question, but I'm not sure if it fits anywhere else.

Today I received results of a recent cholesterol test. While my levels are all below the recommended maximums, my triglycerides have significantly increased to 71 from 42 nearly two years ago. My total cholesterol and LDL have dropped slightly, while HDL is the same. Any thoughts on what could cause the triglycerides to jump, or if it matters because it's still below 150?

Sherry, that is still incredibly low..and very, very good. I got mine down to 79 and was so happy! You must be very, very healthy! (I hope!) Mary

Did you ask your doctor? That would be a good thing to do.

Could be stress, could be eating more carbohydrates (oddly). :dizzy: could just be aging. I really don't know!

Maybe you could find out more with an internet search!

Mary, you're right that it's still pretty low but I guess I was a bit alarmed to see it nearly double. Jay, the form from the doctor containing my results included a note that she would like me to increase my exercise. Because my HDL is a bit low, I suspect that's why I should exercise more. I think I'll follow your advice and do some more research, but perhaps increasing exercise will keep the triglycerides from going up any more. :dizzy:
