Feeling low

I feel so sad when I'm at school so I've been skipping classes lately...I know terrible! It did not make me feel any better. I just feel like a big frumpy blob amongst the other students. My hairs a mess, I wear the same cothes from day to day (this ugly blue jacket and oversized balck pants...bleh)...that's because nothing fits...I just don't want to be judged...(sadly) I know I am. I just don't have enough money to buy anything new. My binge eating is not really doing me any justice either...I'm up 5-6 lbs within this one week...probably water weight from all the salt...

I feel so awkward right now, sick(from binging), and sad, and a little lost...just felt like sharing here because I don't want to share with anyone I know because it'll only make me feel worse...(wierd I know). Yeah right now I need someone to believe in me and won't make me feel worse. I've been finding that here  . Do you think I can get rid of my binge habit and lose the weight despite all this going on?

I was that way in 9th grade, minus the binging. You have to look at yourself and just look at what is the truth. I was 250 when I was walking around at school with no friends and people harrassing me everyday. I wore the same clothes everyday and missed school a lot. I missed 2 weeks just from depression from all of it, which made things ten times worse.

You have to go to class and do what you have to do no matter how you feel. Only after can you start working on yourself. When you miss classes you get stressed which doesn't cure binging at all.

You have to realize you're 143 and probably not far from your goal. 20 pounds away from goal? 30? That isn't so much if you work bit by bit at it.

If you keep binging you'll be 160 before you know it...then 200...then 250...You know? All I can tell you is to go to class, get your outside world life on straight, then work on yourself.

If you worry about calories or trying to do a specific diet, just stop. Eat 3 meals a day (regular meals) for awhile and try to find some control. I know it's hard, but worrying and obsessing makes it 10x harder

I'm hard on you because I was in the same situation so I know how it feels. I want you to get better.

Hi Hazel!

When I'm feeling sad it REALLY helps me to GET MOVING! Try going for a walk outside, breathing in the air and noticing all of the wonderful things that are happening in the springtime. Take water with you so that you can keep hydrated. On a break from your walk sit down and close your eyes. Listen to all the spring sounds. Try to hear even more and more of them as you breathe deeply into your nose and out your mouth. Open your eyes and stand and stretch a bit before you continue your walk.

If the weather is bad outside you can do this in your dorm or apartment. Breathing deeply gets that oxygen flowing through you so that you are thinking clearly. The water keeps you hydrated and feeling soothed and satisfied.

As you walk think of all the things that you love about yourself. Think about the things that you would miss if they were not a part of your life. At this point I usually pray and ask for help in my journey, too!

I wish you a peaceful day!

The short answer is YES!

You can! The other posters so far have given some good ways to start.

Sorry you're feeling so low. I agree with Gamerchick - you really aren't that heavy so tackle the bingeing, and don't worry about losing weight right now. I firmly believe that dieting is what led me to bingeing in the first place.

You need to start feeling better about yourself, so take care of yourself, and do little things to make yourself feel better. I appreciate that money's tight, but maybe a few new outfits at a consignment store? Have your hair trimmed, or try a new cut? Feeling like a "big frumpy blob" is not a mindset that is going to help you cut out the bingeing. You have to do this because you believe you're worth it. I feel like that on my bad days, but the worst thing I can do on those days is to schlep around in sweats with messy hair and no make up (not saying you have to wear make up if you normally don't - it's just that I normally do). I have to groom myself as if I totally feel that I look like a million bucks, and guess what , it does help me feel better.

High school is tough, but cutting classes only hurts you. Don't let other peoples' attitudes make you shortchange yourself by missing out on your education. Trust me, the cool kids in high school aren't always the ones who turn out to be the best people out in the "real world".
