I couldn't get it to work either, until I was going to Curves and started using their weighted one. If you can get your hands on a weighted hoop, they're easier to keep on your waist. And after I'd been using it awhile, I was able to keep up my own hoop at home. A .99 Wal*Mart tube. ;)
