you lost 3 pounds in a week? If thats true, thats not slow, thats great. Good job, hang in there! More than that and you are losing water and lean muscle.

Ok - let's start with what did you do to lose the first 3 pounds in just a week? That seems to have worked. For me calorie counting and exercise has worked - but everyone is different. Browse around the forum - see what kind of plan seems to best fit you.

As for changing your ticker - it looks like you already have the numbers updated - go back to where you set it up in the first place (it's in user CP under update signature) and update and save.

Hey Yellowdvl, Welcome!

Another way to change your tracker is just to click on it--and then follow the directions. But the step lots of people miss is to save it after making the change.

Your weight loss of 3 pounds in 1 week is GOOD! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Most people find that they have to keep track of their foods in some way. As Chick in the Hat mentioned, calorie counting is easy, and you can use a tracker on the computer to do that. FitDay is one that a lot of folks use, and there are many other sites--Calorie King, The Daily Plate. Each program has a big database of foods with the nutrition information, and the program enters the details for you.

Other programs use ounces of food or a points system to keep track.

The number of calories you should eat in a day depends on how old you are and your weight, and your level of activity. FitDay estimates this for you as well. Let's say that you burn 2,000 calories just in the course of a day, with activity and just bein' alive. To lose a pound a week, you would not eat over 1,500 calories per day, which would mean a deficit of 500. A pound is 3,500 cals, so 7 x 500 = 3,500. A weight loss of 1-2 pounds a week, average, is considered healthy--many sources say folks shouldn't go below 1,200 for extended periods of time, except under a doctor's care.

Getting some exercise is also a good idea--it raises the calories you burn, but more important, it improves your muscle tone, and muscle is good at burning fat. It doesn't have to be anything more than walking to start.

So maybe that gives you some ideas...?

I went on a commercial diet for 3 months. I lost 26 pounds with Medifast. I'm not affiliated with the company. The food is expensive but then I think how much it is worth to lose weight. It is also dull and I went off it but stayed with the concept of eating 5 small meals a day and a dinner of vegetable and protein and lost 17 more pounds since then. The motiviatioin from losing the first 26 pounds is incredible. Do you ever think to yourself - if I could just lose these pounds, I promise I'll keep them off? It always seems like it's harder to lose the weight than to keep it off but one step at a time.

Congratulations on your weightloss! Those pounds will be coming off in no time.
The easiest way to change your ticker is to go to the signature under User CP. You will find the HTML code for your ticker. All you have to do is change the last number (I put it in bold) and save. http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/bar006...le/lb/215/175/212/.png

For the ticker- Go to User CP, Edit Signature, and then look where your original ticker is. Click on it. It'll bring you to the information page again, where you put in your new information. Then you copy and paste the new link where your old one is. So it's like making a new ticker each time.

For the dieting- I think a few simple lifestyle changes will knock off those 40 pounds steadily. You can simply eat 3 meals a day (one plate or bowl) and do something like daily exercise. Maybe take a walk everyday for 45 minutes. Once you learn to cut back on the amount of food you eat, if you'd like to, you should put in some healthier versions of the things you like (just look around your grocery store...there's things like 0 cal spray butter, substitute eggs, healthier cereals and breads, all types of things), and just make some new changes with the food you eat. That should really help.
