Top o’ the morning to ya!
Well I am just sitting here eat my granola and getting ready for a morning run. Today will be filled the excitement of errands and chores. Here is another tip e-mail from my gym. This one is on Halloween Candy: The goodies you stock for trick-or-treaters can haunt your healthy-eating regimen. Don’t be fooled: sampling even just a few “small-sized” candy bars can add on lots unwanted calories and fat. To help resist these dietary demons, try these tips: 1) Buy candy you don’t like. 2) Buy at the last minute — as late as Halloween morning, if you can. This way, you won’t have treats lying around the house for days, tempting you. 3) Buy low-fat or no-fat treats. If you suspect you’ll ultimately succumb, go for the lesser of evils. Fruit chews, hard candies, and mints still have plenty of calories that can lead to weight gain — but they’re less insidious than fat-laden chocolate bars and nut-based candies. Jen: Your weather sounds a lot like ours. The winds were so bad the other day that trees were blown over onto people’s cars. It is cold here today but not windy so it should be okay for running. A while a go dh treated me to a proper running jacket, headband to cover my ears, and gloves. It really does make all the difference having the “right equipment”. However, I have to laugh because I am becoming one of the crazy runners that I used to make fun of! Congrats on finishing your midterms. I am sure you did well. I tried calling my advisor yesterday like she asked. But she wasn’t there and hasn’t returned my call. She is really starting to PO me. The first work I handed in was a month ago. She either makes a promise to e-mail me with feedback and blows it off or just ignores me all together. It is getting frustrating. The homecare idea sounds great. Hope it works out for you! Skeeter: Hard to believe that the weather can change so much – from the 80s to the 30s. I hope your tomatoes don’t get frost. That would be such a shame. If you read my post to Jen, you’ll see it is no news from my advisor. ARG! Thanks for attaching the picture of Cody. She is adorable. I love the red on her tail. You must me such a proud mama – you have such beautiful babies . Jojo: I haven’t seen you around for awhile – I hope that everything is okay!! Marlana: Hope you have a good weekend! Don’t work too hard. Well that’s about all for now. Have a good one. Tobey |
Here it is the week end for those of you who doesn't have to go to work today. I myself live at the work place, so I have some to do as soon as it warms up. That might take until 11:00 AM, because it was 30 here this morning. Those darn leaves that I loved so much during the summer is now falling and soon I will have a foot of leaves in my yard. I ain't going to cut down any trees though. I was good with my food yesterday, I eat a lot of veggies, but that is good for me. I'm about 40 years behind in eating green veggies.
Jen~~I know how it feels to be outside with the wind blowing so hard. Yesterday was the first day that we've had in about 5 days without the wind blowing 90 to nothing. I am Challenged to stick to my food plan, right now it's coming pretty easy, but I've been in this battle long enough to know that the obsession will come back, it always has. I've got to fight it with all I got if I'm ever to win this war. Skeeter~~Everything in our garden is gone and Bobby has got it all tilled up for next year. He's adding more manure to it. He really has it in good shape. He would never haul manure for me when I was in charge of growing the garden. OH well I don't want the job back, it his, I've had my turn for 35 years. You should see my patio now, leaves covers it, and I could clean it off and by the end of the day they would be back. I'm going to tell you what, this place is a place to work. It is a very pretty place in the summer because of all the huge trees, but those trees is always dropping something for us to clean up. Next comes pecans. I ain't going to pick them up this year. Tobey~~I tell you girlfriend, you are one good cook. And you cook healthy too. Your passing the time well with hubby gone, and just thank how exciting it will be the day he comes home. I remember hubby being gone for a few days before on a hunting trip. Although he hadn't had a bath in days, he had stopped and bought some Musk perfume and he smelled good to ol Marlana. I've love Musk ever since!!!:D I got your IM and address. I've already sent you some junk mail to read while hubby is gone. If you ever get tired of the crap I might send, just tell me, won't bother me one bit. I know your going to run today, don't forget that new water bottle, and be careful. To all of you in this group, and anyone reading this, have a great weekend and be good to yourself. |
Just a quick note this morning. I didn't get out of work until 12:15 last night, so I let myself sleep in a little. I did pretty good with the food plan yesterday. Of course I didn't get a supper break. And my grandma made me a batch of her absolutely yummy rainin filled cream cookies. I ate only 1 instead of my usual 4-5! It's not as windy today, and the sun is shining. Maybe I'll take a quick walk around the block before I go to work this afternoon. It might wake me up a little, I feel foggy, like I've been drugged. Off to start the day. Happy and healthy weekend.

Hi everyone. I can't believe I haven't been here for two days. Doesn't seem like it but it has been. I hope your weekend has started out good. I've been laying on the couch with the heating pad on my back this afternoon. Its not as bad as it was but its more sore than it had been this week so I'm going to baby it. I was going to cancel physical therapy because it was doing so much better but now I'm thinking I should probably keep the appointment.
Skeeter, sounds like you and your dh both need a beta support group. And here I was just worried about you!!! I think I could use some sort of shopping support group right now cause theres a ring on the shopping channel I'm so tempted to order...but, I won't. If I did, then I'd have to order another one to match it, kinda like you and your fishies. Hmmm, sounds good to me. Somehow I don't think dh would agree with me tho. Dang!!!! Your blue fish is so pretty. Makes me want to get one to. Oh, now you have matching tape recorders to. Skeeter, I think this thing of yours of having more of one of each is getting a little out of hand. We should come up with a support group for that too. Marlana, I wish I could figure something out to do to my back yard to make it look really pretty like you've done with your yard. We've got a weird shaped yard and I'm just not very creative when it comes to landscaping. Oh no, your sis again? Seems like you went thru some stuff with her not to long ago. I hope everything works out. Sally, hows the slug today? I'm a slug myself. Actually, its not a bad life except nothing gets done. Duck slippers, huh? I think I need to get with it and get some more stylish slippers, something without a beak tho. Wish I had my slippers on right now as my feet are freezing. Guess I'm going to have to go stick my cold feet on dh to wake him up. He will sure appreciate that. Plus he'll wake up really fast to. I'm feeling kinda onery today. Tobey, I bought some card stock a few years ago on clearance and I was thinking about making some cards this year. Thanks for posting those links. I've not got past the thinking part of it yet tho. Actually, I'm thinking about doing some more jewelry this year, maybe some bracelets for my neices. I stocked up on beads about a month ago and I keep looking at them trying to come up with some ideas. I'm going to have to scan some of the ones I've done already. We're not doin trick or treat candy this year cause I just don't feel like getting up and down to get the door so I don't have to worry about being tempted with the treats. My mil tried to get me to take a couple of bags of candy home today but I said NO!!! She also tried to get me to take some cookies and a carton of ice cream to. I also said NO to that. When I left she was working on making some orange/chocolate fudge. Oh my. I'm going to have a hard time turning that down. Fudge is one of my favorites. Teresa, I'm really glad to see you back again. Sounds like you are getting yourself going with a food plan again. I had a big mac for lunch the other day and I removed the middle bun and scraped off the "special sauce". Just little things like that do help. Jen, your plan sounds like a good one. I'm sure I'll have plenty of things to account for. You can count on me for that. One of the things I keep forgetting to do is to weigh myself. I just don't think about it anymore and I need to start doing it. I'm one who has to weigh most every day to keep myself on plan. Well, I'd better get off here. We are going out for dh's belated birthday meal. He has decided he wants a steak. Take care and I"ll talk to you tomorrow. |
Hey Everyone:wave:
We went grocery shopping today which is a real mistake on Saturday. I didn't tell y'all yesterday but hubby and I started grocery shopping yesterday and got into a tiff and I refused to shop with him and insisted that we come home. We then tried to "quiet" each other to death the rest of the day and again today. I decided to go back to the store by myself and just to be courteous, asked him if he would like to go along as I was heading out to the car. Surprise, he jumped up and went with me. But we gradually started talking and then ended up acting like yesterday's fight didn't happen. That worked out for the best. Tobey~How's our weekend bachelor girl doing? I'll bet that you have stayed just as busy today as you did yesterday. I hope that you had a good run today and didn't freeze those ears and hands. Tonight is supposed to be our cold night which I can hardly believe in October here. I can never remember it getting very cold in October or even November for that matter. We brought in the tender plants just in case. My tomatoes should be okay because it's not supposed to freeze but just get cold. Cody is a real chatterbox and usually doesn't start until daylight. This morning though she started making a beeping noise about every 45 seconds. At first, I thought something electrical was giving me a warning but then she threw in a "ya wanna go out" with it so I knew it was the bird. I listened to her do that from before 7 until about 7:30 and gave up and got out of bed. It is funny that we never really get mad at her but just accept it as par for owning a parrot. Not everyone is suited for a parrot. Jen~Looks like everyone is up for the challenge. I don't know about losing 9.5# in three weeks but I'm game for losing as much as I can. :D Is your surgery going to be outpatient or will you stay in the hospital for a while? The last time that I weighed I was at 182 so I'll use that to keep track of my progress. Marlana~We always go get dog food when we first get to Wal Mart because it is on one end of the store and the groceries are on the other. We got a cart and started for the dog food and the cart was horrible so hubby took it back to exchange it. I told him that I would meet him in the pet supplies. He went to the fish department looking for me and I was at the dog food a few isles over where he could see me. He said that he was surprised that I hadn't already bought Moby. I told him that there wasn't any fish there that I liked but I sure liked the new tanks that just came in. It is called and aqua wave and holds 2 1/2 gallons of water. He said why didn't I get one and he put one in the cart. It was only $19 but he would have been aggravated over another tank yesterday. I started laughing (not viciously but kind of seductively) and asked him if that was his way of making up for the fight yesterday. He didn't answer which means yes. Both of these little tanks that I have are one piece plastic and look really cute. I have the new one all set up and running already. I have to wait 2 days before I can put a fish in it though. I was going to put Sy in it, but we talked about it and decided to put Leon in the biggest tank. I think that this new hobby is really helping me to not think much about food. Thank goodness it doesn't cost very much. I told hubby today that I wasn't going to buy another fish unless I found one that deserved the name Moby. To us that means one that is so light colored that it is close to being white. Those aren't easy to find at Wal Mart or even the pet stores. I'm just going to grow the peace lily in the vase and of course have it in case I find Moby. Have all your trees gone through the color change already? I sure miss that every year. Jen~Glad that you stopped by. We understand about working and having a busy schedule. I did really great yesterday and hardly ate at all. I don't eat when hubby and I are in a tiff and he doesn't either. All I had yesterday was liquids. We decided to stop at the bbq place on the way to the grocery store today and we both had the salad bar. He had pudding for desert but I stuck to the salads but I did include a tiny bit of potato and chicken salad with my green one. I had another salad for my dinner this evening because it was quick and I was busy with the new tank. Maybe I'll have a good loss again on Monday. JoJo~I seem to be collecting two of everything but I swear there is no ark in my backyard. :D Actually, I used to have 2 African Greys but found a home for one of them. We had ran across an abused Grey in a pet shop and bought it because we felt so sorry for it. That bird never did like me but really took to my husband. He was about half wild and hubby was the only one that could handle him. I really didn't want him but just felt sorry for him being with that horrible store owner. I had to get my husband to remove him from the cage so that I could clean it because he would try to bite me. We gave that bird to a very good friend of my husband and those two fell in love with each other. That crazy bird was sitting on his shoulder eating toast within no time. My husband had always felt indebted to that friend for all the help that he had given him years ago and finally felt like he had paid him back a little. You know, I very seldom used the other tape recorder. I used to tape a lot of me talking to Cody so that babysitter's could play the tape for her when we went on vacation. Now I am trying to figure out what the hay I am going to do with two of them. I'm ready to go take a shower and get into something looser. Have a great weekend everyone. I am going to attach a picture of what I would like my next fish to look like. |
Good morning ladies.
Just one more night alone and dh will be back. However I have been very busy – so I have had little time to mope. Marlana: Are those leaves so beautiful in fall? That is until the fall onto you lawn and then you spend endless days raking? There are only two times that I don’t mind living in an apartment – 1. When the lawn needs mowing and 2. When the lawn needs raking! Glad to hear you are doing so well with your food. What kind of veggies do you like? If you let me know I’ll try and post some recipes on my other thread that uses those veggies. Yes I do love to cook. That was a big challenge when I was loosing weight. I used cook with lots of oil, cheese, etc… I had to learn how to make low fat meals that still tasted great. It was a lot of trial and error. And I had a lot of errors! I did get to try out my water bottle yesterday – its great. I ran 8k yesterday and am hoping to do a bit better today. Jen: Oh work is keeping you so busy. No wonder you are burning out. Hope you had a chance to go for that walk. WTG on resisting the temptation to gobble down all of those cookies. Not sure that I would have been able to do that. Jojo: Glad that you had a chance to check in. I went and bought some red card stock yesterday, which was on sale, and some pretty Christmas ribbon. The ribbon was on sale for 50% off. I think I will try and knock them off while I am watching TV. I think I will have about 40 cards to make. I would love to see a picture of jewellery. I bet people just loved getting them! WTG on not taking the whole candy/cookie aisle from your MIL. Isn’t funny how some people really try to push food on other people. How dinner was good. Skeeter: Ah grocery shopping can bring out the worst in people. Dh and I have had some of our best tiffs over the dairy case  Glad to hear that everything has worked out okay. I did have a great run yesterday – ran for about 8k. I bought proper running gloves and headband so I was very comfortable. I think I may be able to run outside all winter. I was laughing out loud about your Cody story (the beeping one)! You’re right not everyone could own a parrot. Well I am going to go get dress and head out for a run. Hope you all have a great, relaxing Sunday. Tobey :D |
Good morning gals. Work was just as crazy last night, if not worse. You can definately tell that Halloween is in the air! Glad I'm off today! I was able to take a brisk 20 min walk around the neighborhood yesterday. It helped alot. It's amazing how much fresh air and a little exercise helps.
Jojo- Sorry about your back. Things like that are not quick fixes, so take it easy and give it some time. Skeeter- Good choices at the salad bar. Sometimes it's so hard to resist when everything is laid out in front of you. My surgery is scheduled as an outpatient. But if I get sick from the anesthesia like I did the last time, I'm not leaving. I'm not sure about losing the 9.5 lbs in 3 weeks either, but I'd sure like to. Tobey- I wish I was back to running again. Last year I really got into it, but only made it up to about 5K. I stopped during the winter, and this spring and summer I had surgery too much to really get into it. Maybe I'll do some this winter. I already have the fancy running shoes. Those made a world of difference. Marlana- I'm with you on the raking leaves situation. I think I've got the biggest tree in the neighborhood and the last one to lose the leaves. I'm hoping the majority will be down by the time I have surgery. I don't rake them too much, I mow 'em up and mulch the lawn with them. Can you imagine hearing a lawm mower in November? People must think I'm nuts! I've gotta go, it's football Sunday after all. I'll have to work hard at resisting a sandwich at the bar where we watch the game. Think 140, think 140, think 140.... Jen 149.5/.../140 |
Hey Everyone:wave:
It got down to 45 last night and I had to turn the heat on. The sun is shining so bright now but it is still chilly out there. It is going to start warming back up each day until it gets back into the 80's by Friday. If it would rain really hard, it would be perfect for 4 wheeling. Tobey~You're not going to believe this. I have been wondering where Cody heard that beep in the first place. Well, I was awakened about 2:45 this morning to the beeping again. I just couldn't believe that Cody was doing it because birds roost at night and she never makes any noise unless something scares her. Then she squawks but no talking or imitated noises at night. I was half asleep so I just went out and pulled her cover all the way over her cage. She likes the front left open but I thought she might quit beeping if I shut the front off. She freaked out and fell off her perch about the time that I got back to bed. As I was helping her back to her perch and calming her down, the beep sounded behind me. I was the dang smoke alarm warning me that the battery was going dead. We have been listening to the smoke alarm that only beeps at night and the bird that beeps all day. They all now have new batteries but we still get to hear the beeps during the day. Cody beeped the whole time that my husband was changing the battery in the one in the room with her cage. I'm so glad that you can continue to run in the cold weather. Jen~Halloween is definitely in the air and my husband filled his candy dish a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how I have managed to stay out of it. I am not a real big candy eater, I'd rather have cakes and pastries than candy. I really like the salad bar at the bbq place and we get our plates so fast that I can be eating before the smell of all those french fries get to me. They also offer a great chicken salad that is made with their smoked chicken. I am getting so hungry now. I think that I will make some f/f hot dogs for lunch on a lite bun. Yummy. I need to get everything ready for my figure skating and Nascar race today. Y'all have a good Sunday. Stay warm. |
HOWDY LADIES:
It is Sunday afternoon and I have a terrible cold! I thought I would get caught up as it has been too long since I've been in here. I must admit that I didn't really read the thread carefully. I just want to let everyone know that I am still alive. I have gained back a pound, but that is the way it goes. I was faily good during this week. It helps when you don't have to cook too much. I made lasagna on Thursday because dh was hungry for it and he has been eating the leftovers this weekend since I was gone. I went to the State Cross Country meet in Ft. Dodge. Both the girls and boys qualified. This was the first time that a girls' team in anything has qualified for state. I really wanted to go for them. I drove out with a friend who was coming back with someone else and then I drove to my sister's to spend the night. That was good because I could see the kids. I drove back home this morning. I guess the cold was worth it as both teams place 5th and we think that was pretty good. I am really happy for the girls as they have worked very hard. Our boys have gone the last 4 years. I better go and get ready for the trick or treaters. They cancelled the parade because of all the wind today. (It wasn't windy yesterday until after the races were all over) I have had the bag of candy for over a month and not opened it. Any leftover may go to the school or the neighbor's. That way I won't eat it. :D You all take care and I will try to get back in a week or so. Our play is Thurs.-Sat. this week and I have a sister coming for the weekend to see it. I won't get up here to just chat. I hope to get caught up with all of you then. Keep up the good work at getting thinner. CAROL |
Good evening all,
Hope everyone has had a good day. I have. I stayed op all day and still have a few points in the bank if I need them. So I have finished my first week of being back op and I can tell you I fill a little better. My stomach is not burning as much, I just can't wait til I am able to sleep a little better. I went to the grocery store today and got a few things I was out of. I bought some califlower (sp?) I tried some the other day and it was ok so I bought some to add some other veggies to my diet. I was going to get this breakfast bread stuff but when I figured out how many points one piece was I changed my mind. Don't want to wast that many points on one piece of bread knowing that one will not fill me up til lunch. So tomorrow I will weigh in and post for our new challenge. So what date did we decide on. Seems like I remember something about just before Thanksgiving. I did lift some weights today. I am going to try to walk tomorrow. If no one has anything for me to do right after work I am going to stop and walk before I come home. If I don't I will come home and not want to drive back to the track and I can not walk on our street. I am going to have to make myself just take the time for me. Well gonna go and try to get ready for work tomorrow. Talk to you all soon. Teresa |
Hi Everyone. Hope you have all had a nice weekend. I've been home all day, resting my back.
Teresa, you are right, you do have to take time for you. We all do. Today has been one of those days for me. It was nice. Carol, Oh I feel for you. I've had my cold for 6 weeks and it just won't go away. I don't feel bad but I have all the yucky symptoms from it. I'm definetly tired of it. I hope you feel better soon. Skeeter, that pink fish is so pretty. I'm curious, if they are fightiing fish, how do they ever mate to make more???? I suppose they stop fighting long enough to make more. We've had our heat going for a week now. Its been really chilly here this last week. Jen, our trees are always the last to lose their leaves to. Last year we didn't even get to rake our yard before the snow hit. The leaves hadn't completely fallen either. Hopefully we don't get snow as early as we did last year. Tobey, we almost can't leave my MIL's without taking something with us. She just thinks she has to give everyone something. She buys tons of toilet paper, dish soap, laundry detergent, etc saying she couldn't pass up a bargain. I keep telling her its not a bargain if she is giving it away. hmmm, where's that Marlana at? Well, I'd better get off here now. Take care and I'll talk to you lighter. |
Morning Girls~~I was lazy yesterday and didn't come in and write. Most of the time no one comes in on Sunday, and wouldn't you know if I didn't show up, people would write. I've had a good week end, food was fine, and I've lost 2 pounds last week yeah I'll take it. To tell the truth I would like to lose 2 1/4 this coming week so I could get into the 60's. I take it 10 pounds at a time. I can face to lose 10 pounds, but I don't want to look at a 100. Really today is the only day I have to get through right now, don't have to worry about tomorrow, it's not here yet. I'm very grateful for the weight I've lost in less than a month...14 1/4 pounds...and from my highest...26 1/4...I'm making progress...and I'm so grateful. Thank you all for being here for me. You are true friends. I was moving some things around in my puter and I found the first thread that I started in June of 2000. Shortly after that I was lucky enough to have Jo Jo, Sally and Skeeter join me. Thank you girls, we've been coming here for a while. And not selling the rest of you short, we've all been here a while. Thanks
Jen~~Great~~you was able to eat only one of Grand-ma's cookies that is fill with love. That was sweet..and reminds me I need to take my grand children a batch of cookies. I haven't spent much time with them lately. OK...I want to know something, does the hard work I do outside count for my exercise??? I do hear a lawn mower in Nov. and later sometimes. I get most of my leaves up that way too. There is no way I could rake this whole yard. And I have 8 huge trees in my yard. Jo Jo~~My yard looks good in the summer until the heat takes it's toll. But I'm not very good at landscaping. I tend to make everything square, and it needs curves. Right now it's a mess with leaves, but no need to clean them up until they all fall. I've been in a situation with my Sister for over 2 years now, but looks like I'm finally going to feel at piece again as for as she is concerned. I hope, otherwise I'm going to have to break lose of it all, and let her go. I don't mean not talk to her, I mean stop fretting about her. Skeeter~~Glad that quite war is over. I've had a few of those myself, we only have quite wars too. Hubby and I don't fuss much though. He just makes me mad and I just go on. I don't know about where you live, but Sat. isn't the best day to go shopping here. All these people here are still living like they did 70 years ago when people only went to town on Sat. with the eggs and cream. Everyone is in town on Sat.....except me. I loved your little story about Wal Mart shopping. When the quite war is over here, hubby talks me leg off. We have some pretty trees here and some are just so so. The one's in my yard are not pretty at all. I have pecans again this year. I ain't going to pick up any of them!!! Oh girlfriend, I predict that you will have one of those white fish's you posted a picture of. It is pretty, and I'm sure it's a girl. Tobey~~I don't do a lot of raking leaves, I do some, but I mostly blow them out to where we can mow them with the lawn mower. It is still a big job. I do have to rake and burn the drive way which has fence on both sides. The veggies I like are starchy ones, but I'm holding those to a limit. I would love it if you posted some veg. recipes on you other thread. Last night I didn't eat any meat at all, I ate veggies, now that's saying something for me. Hubby will be home tonight. I'm singing that some now for you. "Tonight's the night" Carol~~Girl your doing good getting in here every week end. I understand why you can't come in everyday, and I'm always glad to hear from you on the week ends. Sorry to hear about the cold. Boy I dread a cold, because of my asthma, it always sets it off and then it's months before I can get it to stop bugging me. Sounds like your teams done ok. Teresa~~So glad to see you here, and Congrats on getting a week under your belt of being OP. Sure makes you feel better don't it? I'm really trying to keep plenty of veggies in my food plan too. I like starchie veggies, but I'm working on eating more green ones. Hang in there and we will get to our goals one day. Sally~~ I beat you in today. Hubby is back on overtime for a while. I've been up since 3:00 AM. Missed you here this morning. I'm off to make the most of my day. You all have a good one. |
Morning Ladies
How was the weekend for you all? Mine was pretty good, except I ate too much yesterday, which doesn't bode well for weigh in today...oh well, live and learn I guess. I wasn't even hungry, just bored I think. I need to hop on the treadmill of death more often when I'm bored instead of crawling thru the kitchen cabinets! JoJo, how's the back today? My ex MIL sounds like your current one....she would load big grocery bags with stuff when we went to visit. My mother does that too--she can't let us leave without taking home something from her pantry...it's a mother thing, I suppose. My current MIL lives in Texas, so we don't see her very often; when she visits, though, she heads to Walmart first thing to buy us stuff for the house. My mom is coming for Thanksgiving, so I will have to really CLEAN the house next month, instead of giving it a lick and a promise like usual. Not that she cares, but I do. Teresa, sounds like you're on the right track again! Good for you! I'm bad about not taking time for me, either, for exercise, and I don't know why; I make time for everything else. I need to make it more important to me...I do okay with the food most days, but my exercise hasn't been on schedule yet. We have a walking trail about three blocks away, too, and I don't get down there often enough. Well, something to work on for our challenge! Carol, hope your cold goes away soon, and you can enjoy your visit with the sister! I haven't been in the Halloween candy much this year, either; I bought stuff I don't like. It seems to be stuff that DH likes, though; I keep finding wrappers on the workstation. I hope we have some left by Wednesday! Come back and check in with us as soon as you get a chance. Skeeter, how're the animals? I have had a big fat yellow cat for about seven years now, who likes to go outside. He disappeared about two years ago, and we thought he was gone for good. Well, he showed up on the front porch Saturday night, with a little gift (small, dead, stiff mouse) for us. He's bigger and fatter than ever...he's eating well somewhere! He stayed around a day and then took off again. Silly thing...food must be better at the new digs, I guess. I wanted to sort of cut back on our zoo, but it isn't happening, at least not yet! Jen, how're you doing? We grind up the leaves in the fall, too. A lot of people in our neighborhood do...it's a lot quicker than raking, and no splinters from the rakes!:p Have a good one! Tobey, did hubby come home yet, or is it today? Sounds like you've been keeping busy! I checked out that organized home site and bookmarked it for later, when I can read more. I love things like that, although my home is less than organized! When I was single, I had one of those spotless homes--I even dusted my light bulbs. Martha Stewart would have been proud. Now she would run in horror....it's hard to keep up with the dirt from three other people....especially two small horribles and one packrat. But, I wouldn't trade them for the neat house! I'll have a neat house again some day, when the girls leave home and Jeff gets too old to make much of a mess!:D I love your little Piglet attachment!! He's my very favorite. Jeff like Eeyore, so we have lots of Winnie the Pooh stuff. (Not for the girls, for us!) Mama, where have you been the last day or so? Hope you're doing okay! We miss you when you're not in here every day you know! Did you watch the football game Saturday? My beloved Huskers won! I thought about you, though, and I do like Oklahoma, just not when they play my Huskers! Every other game, though. I had to rub it in to Jeff, too, since Texas didn't beat Oklahoma this year, and they kept mentioning that during the game. Can't rub it in too much, though; he takes his football very seriously. Hope you have a good one! I hope I didn't miss anybody; if I did, I didn't mean too! It's early, you know....the mutts are already up; time changed, and they went to bed last night at 7:30! Love you all! Sally |
Good morning all.
Can’t believe Monday is here already. Just two more nights until Trick or Treat. And tonight is the night that my pumpkin comes home  Anyone have big plans for Halloween? Dh and I have scary plans – we are going to the dentist! This is a big deal for us. During our lives, we each have only been to the dentist once before. So I finally dug up the courage and found a dentist who practices “gentle dentistry” aka “dentistry for chickens”. I even made appointments for the same time so neither of us will back out. I know that I will need to have a lot of work done. I also think I will have to get my wisdom teeth removed. Oh well better to start getting this on track now instead of later. Jen: You are right that Halloween is in the air. My mom works in a nursing home and she says that things are really crazy right now. It is amazing how a little sunshine and exercise can really lift your spirits. The hardest part is just getting motivated to get up and go. What brand of shoes were you running in? Skeeter: Sounds like Cody was trying to teach a lesson about changing the battery frequently. That’ll learn ya! Boss: Glad you had a chance to check in. You definitely live life in fast lane. Congrats to your Cross Country teem for making state. They did really well – you must be proud! Good luck with your play – I’m sure it will be a hit!! Teresa: WooHoo – one week OP! Way to go! I am looking forward to the results of your weigh in. Hope you were able to get your walk in. Jojo: Glad to hear that you have been taking care of your back. Dh’s aunt sound a bit like your MIL. She always has a box o’ stuff for you to take. You feel like you were at a going out of business sale! Marlana: That is such great news! 14.25 in less than a month! I am so proud of you. You have worked so hard and deserve every once of that loss. And no meat for dinner last night! I will put together some just veggie recipes and post on my food thread. I’ll avoid the starchy ones for now. In an earlier post you said that you had sent me some e-mail, however, I didn’t receive it. Did it get sent back to you? Yes “Tonight’s the night!” Sally: I can relate to you. I am also a boredom eater. I had to be careful with dh gone this weekend. I was okay except for yesterday I had a little more than I should have but no major damage. The problem yesterday was that I went for a run from 9:00 am – 10:00 am and then never left the house after that. My place is normally disaster as well. For one we have really out grown our tiny apartment but can’t afford to buy a house yet. So we simply just don’t have room for all our stuff. Also dh just likes to leave things lying around. I did manage to tidy everything up this weekend but I am sure it will look like at tornado hit it around 8:00 tonight (dh’s flight lands at 7:00). I am also a huge pooh fan. I have to admit that our bathroom is completely decorated in Classic Pooh – that’s everything from bath mat, shower curtain, toothbrush holder, soap dispenser, soap dish, etc… Well better get back to work. I am in the middle of organizing an office flu shot clinic and the requests are starring to pour in. Have a great day!! Tobey |
Wow, you'd have thought with setting the time back an hour I'd be able to get up earlier, nope. I do tend to get a little seasonal about this time of year, need more sleep, eat more, etc. I'm fighting it tooth and nail this time though. Last year was really bad because I was working night shift and never saw the sun. I did really good with the food plan yesterday. I had some fruit before watching the game (DOLPHINS WIN), didn't eat greasy crap at the bar, and had vegetable soup and a grilled cheese made with tofu cheese for a late dinner. I'm not sure what is going on for Thanksgiving this year. I know it's not at my house, it's a week after my surgery. I'm sort-of planning on spending that weekend at my boyfriends house. He's off for a 4 day weekend, and my mom will be driving my crazy, I'm sure. At least when I had surgery in the summer I could go outside and sit. Now there is nowhere to go.
Marlana- I think that the yard work does count for some exercise, though you should try to mix in some regular stuff to try to get used to doing it. Tomorrow is my "yard day". It's not a legal burn day for the city, so I'll have to save that for Saturday, but I sure can mow the leaves, cover the roses, etc. Jojo- That's right, we had ALOT of snow early last year. I think we set 7 records in December. I remember I went to Ohio for my Grandfathers memorial service and I came back to 14 inches of snow and an ice storm was just starting. UGH. I hate to think of it. Sally- I'm a big boredom eater, though only at night. I could go all day without a morsel, but after dinner, lock the pantry door! I just need to stay busy and out of the kitchen. One rule I set for myself that helps is to eat only at the kitchen table. There's no snacking in front of the TV or puter that way. Tobey- I had to go look at my shoes to see what they were, Teebok DMX with the 6 air chambers in the sole. They made a huge difference on my knees when I bought them. They costed $100, so that's my motivation to use them, can't let them go to waste! Skeeter- Your beeping bird cracks me up! Way to go staying out of the candy dish. I'm sure that's how I gained my weight back this month. But I haven't had candy since last Tues or Wed, and there still is some in the dish. That's a major feat for me. Carol- Hope your cold goes away soon. Congrats on your cross country teams! Teresa- It's good that you are already feeling better after one week. That's truly motivating to continue. I hope that your weigh-in shows for it. Mine is tomorrow. Have a happy and healthy day. Jen 149.5/.../140 |
Hey Everyone:wave:
I sure hope everyone is having a good Monday. It is very quiet here since all the hunters have left the woods. Yesterday was the last day of black powder season. We have a break until rifle season starts November 10. That's when we are very careful about being in the woods. Those city guys that think if they buy a gun they can be a hunter, will shoot at anything that moves. It ruin our winter activities for 2 months. There is a cross-country hiking trail that runs right through the woods where hunting is allowed. I worry that a hiker will get shot someday. Carol~That weight gain must be a temporary water gain. I don't think that you have time to gain weight with your schedule. It's good to hear from you when you get the time. I hope that you get over that cold really fast. Keep us updated with your life and your weight loss. Enjoy a good visit with your sister. :D Teresa~Hey Gal, WTG with staying OP for a week. We have to concentrate on the little battles and a day or a week at a time. I like cauliflower and broccoli mixed with just a little salt and buttery spray. My favorite veggie is tomatoes, brussel sprouts and spinach. I could sit down and just eat those three items with a piece of bread sprayed with that buttery stuff. We are in a mini challenge until November 15 when Jen has her surgery. We'll have to come up with something else to get us through the holidays. Marlana~WTG on that weight loss for the month. And a big HURRAY for the 2# for this weigh in. Hard work counts for exercise whether it is inside or outside. The store was so crowded on Saturday that I swore that I would never go shopping on the weekend again. Our store is always crowded no matter what day it is because of all of us retired people that shop there, especially in the winter. JoJo~I guess your back isn't doing that much better. I sure hope that you find some relief soon. I also think that the light colored fish is gorgeous. I'll never find one like that at the local stores but I might find a light color which is okay. I guess it is a little tricky to breed these guys because they can't live together. The male and female are kept where they can see each other until the bubble nest is built and they are ready. As soon as they spawn and all the eggs are in the bubble nest the female is removed and the male takes care of the eggs until they hatch. I think the male is then removed and the human raises the babies. I'm not going to get into that though. I'll just keep my little guys in there little tanks and let them see each other occasionally for exercise and to keep them lively. When do you start that physical therapy? Each day this week is supposed to be warmer until it is back in the 80's by Friday. Then the a/c will go back on. Sally~That is amazing that your cat showed up after 2 years. Someone must have been keeping him inside the house for him to have stayed gone so long. That is so sweet that he came for a visit. Maybe his new people are feeding him gourmet food and he just couldn't resist. :) All of my critters are doing fine. I really need to not get any more. I already have to get a sitter for the bird and will now have to do the same for the fish. Tobey~Good luck at the dentist's. I let my dental care lapse during my teens and young adulthood. Once I got my teeth cleaned, I decided to keep them that way and have flossed every night since then. My insurance pays 80% of semi annual cleanings so it is easier now to keep our mouths healthy. I really feel bad for those that don't have good insurance because dental and medical visits are outrageous. My husband and I both had to laugh over the bird and the beeping. Her doing it during the day caused me to ignore it in the early morning until it happened in the middle of the night. Well, duh. I hope that you have a wonderful reunion with hubby tonight. Jen~I don't know when you wanted to start with the weigh- ins but I have lost 2# since I weighed last. I think that I weighed last Monday and had stayed the same. That's usually how I lose, on an every other week schedule unless I exercise like crazy. I haven't made any plans this year for Thanksgiving yet either. I can't believe that it's only a month away. I also want to eat when I am bored. It helps me to keep only f/f or s/f snacks around. I also try to a lot of veggies for dinner so that I won't get hungry before bedtime. WTG for staying out of that candy dish. It is sure hard to do during this time of year. I hope that all you ladies have a wonderful evening. It was sure good to see so many of you again. |
Mornin Ladies~~I'm a dead head this morning, can't wake up. This shift is a killer.
Not a lot to talk about. My food was good yesterday, that's always good news. I hope yours was too. Sort of planning a camping trip this week end. Hubby doesn't know if he will have to be at work or not yet. If we don't go soon, it's going to get too cold. Tobey~~We haven't had a trick or treater her in about 3 years. All the kids go to town where the house's are closer together. Fine with me, once I set down to watch TV I had just as soon not to have to answer the door. Hope your Hubby got home yesterday, I know you must have been really glad to see him. We get tired of them, but we want them anyway. Oh I'm with you on going to the Dentist, you know the time I had when they pulled a tooth. I have another appointment tomorrow at 1:00 PM. I have to get a tooth filled. I have two to be done, but one at a time. I'm not going to the one who made such a mess. Good luck. I keep check on your receipts all the time. I'm waiting for those veggie ones. Sally~~I don't thank we can expect to be the perfect eaters, so what you do when you have a bad week end is pick yourself up and go on. I don't want to talk about the OU game. Hubby and I couldn't watch it. I left before he did and went outside and went to work. He left when Neb. hit 20. I was shocked to see that in the poles they just changed places. We lost our quarterback or maybe the score would have been different. If that's the worst thing that ever happens to me, I've got nothing to worry about. I hope you was able to get back on your game plan yesterday. You've done so well. Keep it up. Jen~~I hate the night shift, my hubby worked it for years by choice. And I did have a bad time trying to stay out of food setting here every night alone. But you know what, I can have a bad time with food anytime of the day. If I can keep my mind in the right place I'm OK. Thank you for letting my outside work count as exercise. I have to get it done before cold weather. And then there will be the leaves to clean up. Always something. Hubby dug a new hole for the mailbox to be put back up today. I'm the one who will mix the cement and set it. I don't know if I told the group or not. But a dope head knocked it down at 4:15 Sunday morning. I even had to go and buy a new post and I have to buy a new mailbox too. I want you to know thought, I'm ready for the next guy to hit it. I got a very heavy steel post and it will do some damage to his car. Of course this guy knocked the wheels from under his. Skeeter~~A great big Congrats on the 2 pound loss last week. It's about time for Deer season here too. We have a lot of road hunters around here, and we do have deer cross our place. Bobby used to live to go deer hunting, but has slacked off some on that. I used to go with him when I was young. I'm a tom boy, still, I like to do what they guys does. I was thanking about your fish and the new tank. He went into shock being in that big place. I don't have fish, but I would thank during the time you are letting the water set for a couple of days, and just put maybe half the amount you want in there, and set his jar or vase down in the tank with him still in it. It will be less of a shock to him when you do put him in it. Then add water a little at a time. It may not work, but it makes sence to me. I thank it's time for me to go and get in a chair and get some more shut eye. Have a great day, and be good to yourself. |
Morning Ladies!
I'm tired this morning; I haven't slept well in the last two days, and it messes up my days. I didn't get to weigh in yesterday--I had to leave work at noon to pick up my youngest; she had thrown up in music class. Poor babykin. She was much better by the time I got to school, though, but I took the afternoon off. I started to weigh at home, but my scales are different than the ones at work. Mama, you have been getting up awfully early these days, haven't you? Hubby still doing the overtime? We have a bunch of trick or treaters in my neighborhood, but we miss some of them since the girls have a carnival at their school, and we go to that until about 7 pm, then the girls come home to get their loot. I don't let them go anywhere except around the block, though. Oh, I hate go to the dentist too! Yuck. I've tried not to pass that along to the kids, since I learned to hate it when I was a kid. They don't seem to think much about it at this point. I just had to tease you about the football game, since I know you live in Oklahoma! There's always next year! (I've had to say that many times this year, since the Titans and U. of Tenn. haven't had the best of years! ). I like to tease my hubby too, when Texas plays--I always ask if they brought the cow (It's a STEER, it's a STEER). I'm so mean:devil: Hey Skeeter! You stay out of the woods if there are hunters around! Jeff said something about going hunting around Thanksgiving in the west part of the state. I've never been myself; camping is about as rustic as I care to get, and I'd rather do that in a camper! I like my home on wheels. Yeah, my kitty disappeared again yesterday--I guess he went back to his "other" home. He's a funny little fellow. Jen how're you doing? I need some more walking/running shoes--I may try out those you have....I have some Reeboks, but they aren't as comfy as I would like. It's cold, cold, cold here, but not any snow yet, thank goodness! We have had snow on Halloween before, but usually not until the first of the year. Tobey, I suppose you're doing most of your running in the house lately, since DH has come home? Hope you had a good reunion, and he had a good time visiting! I better run and get the mutts up and going---hope no one gets sick today ! Love you all! Sally |
Good morning all.
Well dh made back last night. He even brought me back a few goodies. He bought me 2 beautiful scented candles. They are in these beautiful glass jars with copper-style lids. And they smell soooo wonderful. One is Pumpkin Pie Spice and the other Roasted Hazelnuts. I have never had candles that smelled this good before. I lit the Pumpkin Pie one last night and the aroma filled up the entire apartment. It smelled like I had been baking all day (but without the calories :) ). You could still smell it when I got up this morning! He also brought me back a bottle of wine that I love and is hard to find here. I couldn’t resist and cracked it open last night to celebrate. We each only had one glass so that was okay – I even brought out my crystal anniversary glasses. And he also brought me back a Victoria’s Secret catalogue. He said it was for the clothes and not the lingerie. Yah right! He is so sweet and I missed him but by 4:00 a.m. I was ready to send him back! His allergies started bothering him when he got home last night (he is allergic to our cat :( ) and he SNORED the entire night! I was beat by the time the alarm went off at 5:30 this morning. Oh well I guess they can’t be perfect. Jen: The time change has really messed my system up. My stomach hasn’t yet realized that the time has changed. So when I would normally have my morning snack at 10:00, my stomach is screaming for food at 9:00. I have been so hungry since Sunday and I have been eating extra. Good thing I am exercising! It was nice this morning to leave the house when it was light out. However, now it will be dark when I leave work. Oh well – guess I just like to complain! Skeeter: Hunters are a crazy bunch. Hunting is allowed in some of the areas around where my mom lives. What is scary is when you get a bunch of these gun happy guys out there who also decided to kill off a few cases of beer. You always hear of accidents where one “buddy” accidentally shoots another “buddy” while they are out there. Glad dh never got into that. Both dh and I have made a commitment that starting with tomorrow we will go to the dentist every 6 months. It is crazy for us not to as my company pays pretty much for 100% coverage. Marlana: You have been doing so well with your food! I am just so proud of you!!!! You also sound in such good spirits lately. I just want to fly down and give you a big! I hope you do manage to get away this weekend. Hope your trip to the dentist goes better tomorrow. Glad to hear that you are not going back to the same butcher. I am a bit nervous, as I am sure that I have a ton of work that needs to be done. I am so glad that we have practically 100% coverage through my work. My work has an excellent benefits package that is company paid for both my husband and me. I am certainly spoiled when it comes to my job. I will probably have time to post some veggie recipes late in the week or on the weekend. I did get your e-mails to my home address. I LOVED the one with the cute animal pictures. I am such a sucker for animals. I had to pass that one to everyone I know. I received my photo that was taken at the finish line of the half-marathon last night. I am going to scan it in and send it to you for our cyber photo album. Then you will finally be able to see what I look like. I will try and get together some other pics as well to fill in my section. Sally: Hope your munchkin is felling better today. They must be getting excited about Halloween. Will they be getting dressed up? Well I guess I should get back to work. Although it looks like it will be a pretty quiet day today. Happy thoughts go out to you all! Tobey :D |
Well gals, I weighed in this morning, I lost 2 lbs this past week. Of course I'm bummed out 'cuz I took a sneak peak over the weekend and I haven't lost any since. But hey, 2 lbs is 2 lbs. I also think I've got a touch of the pms, but we'll see. I didn't get a break again at work last night. I was too busy juggling 7 cardiac patients. Ideally we work at a 4:1 ratio. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it? I'm actually looking forward to my surgery, I get a month off! Then when I go back to work I'll be on winter break from school for 5 weeks! How wonderful that will be. I was going to do alot of yard work today, cleaning up after the dog, picking up sticks that fell out of the giant tree, mowing leaves, covering roses, but of course, it's raining. Now it's going to have to wait until Saturday. I guess there are worse things. I'll just have to work on homework all day. Maybe get ahead for once. Tonight I'm going to make a veggie pizza and watch a scary movie. I hope there's a good one on or I'll have to go rent one. Did you guys realize that it's a full moon tomorrow, on HALLOWEEN! Talk about letting the spooks out. Glad I'm off tonight and tomorrow. It will be crazy!
Skeeter- that has to be crazy with those gun happy city folk trapsing around the woods like Davey Crocket! I would be scared to go outside. Wear bright clothes, not brown!!! WTG on your 2 lb loss!!!:D Marlana- WTG on your 2 lbs as well! I usually add veggies to something to bulk it up. Like my mom made tuna helper last week, and I thought, I can't eat that, but then I added green beans to the helper and had a big salad to fill me up, and some fruit for dessert. Then another day I added some spinach to the leftovers that already had the beans. I'm always thinking (uh oh) what can I do to add fruit and veggies? I don't eat much meat anymore, no beef. Meat is the garnish, the veggies are the main part of the meal. Tobey- those candles sound scrumptious. I always get some apple cinnamon for this time of year. Once I even got a peanut butter cookie one. YUMMY! Your alarm goes off at 5:30? Dang that's early! I'm lucky to crawl out of bed by 9:00. Do you run in the mornings before work? I am going to post the first weeks weigh-ins tomorrow night, after the trick or treaters are through, so let me know if you want posted! :spin: Happy and healthy. Jen 149.5/147.5/140 |
Hi Everyone. I'm home for lunch and thought I'd get in here and post since I didn't get to last night. I tell ya, I could fall asleep sitting here in this chair. I'm so drowsey and I wish I didn't have to go back to work. Oh well. I'm going anyway. To much to do.
My mil sent some fudge home with dh and I've not done to bad with it but its there, you know what I mean? Well, I'm not about to throw it away and I'm not sending it back so I'm eatting it sparingly. I have to tell you..........this fudge is better than sex!!!!! :dizzy: I'm serious!!!!! I think its her best ever. I've always liked her fudge but now she is using a different recipe and well, like I said, I'll take it over sex. I still have not weighed. I just keep forgetting. I will weigh in the morning, I will weigh in the morning, I will weigh in the morning. I just don't do as well when I don't weigh myself. I'm kind of dreading it but its the only way to really get me going again. I tried to work out with my hand weights and it made my back hurt to bad afterwards so thats out. I may try some walking on my break tomorrow instead. I know Tae-bo is out. If I could do taebo, that would be the best kick start for me. My back was doing really good when I was taking 50mg of vioxx but after the first 5 days I was cut down to 25 mg and my back started bothering me. I had hoped that working with the weights would help but I was wrong. Jen, Way to go with losing 2 lbs last week. Thats great. I'd settle for a pound right now, even a 1/2lb would make me happy. A veggie pizza sounds yummy. I like those kinds of things but dh doesn't. Wow, sounds like you had your hands full at work last night. 7 patients sounds like a lot. Is there a nursing shortage in your area? There is here. Tobey, I know all about a snoring husband. Mine doesn't snore, he rattles the wall. And it doesn't matter which way he lays, he still snores. I think he has mild sleep apnea cause I've had to nudge him several times when it sounded like he wasn't breathing. He says I snore to but I've never heard myself so I have to disagree with him. Your pumpkin scented candle sounds wonderful. I'm finishing up a "pumpkin spice" cappacino as I am writing. Its yummy. I don't need the calories but oh, it sounded so good. Sally, my favorite pooh character is Eoyore to. I just can relate to him the best, slow moving, slow thoughts, or so it seems. I went for my first physical therapy session and I'm pretty sore from it. I was told it would get worse before it gets better. I'm looking forward to it getting better. Marlana, I just noticed our yard could use raking pretty bad but I hate to do it more than once. DH said he is going to mow it with the bag on so that we don't have to do alot of raking. I've got my fingers crossed that we don't get snow early like last year. Why do you say your not good at landscaping? From the pictures you have posted, I'd say you are very good at it, especially with what you do with the walkways. I think that is so cool. Congrats on losing over 14 lbs. You are doing so good. Skeeter, as I said earlier, I did much better on the 50 mg vioxx than I am on the 25 mg. I may call the dr about it. The therapist seems to think its muscular thats causing my problems. I've got several stretching exercises to do and I definetly have to work on my posture. I tend to slump when I'm sitting. He told me I was going to end up with a hump on my back if I didn't straighten up. I love to hear about the male species of whatever is the one who takes care of the eggs till they hatch. Its too bad the human male couldn't be the one to "house" the baby till its born. You are so funny. I laughed till I almost peed my pants over your beeping bird story. I laugh when i even think about it. Now you'll never know if the battery needs to be changed or if its your bird. Well I think I posted to everyone. If I missed anyone this time, I'll get you next time. Take care everyone. I've got to get back to work. |
Hey Everyone:wave:
We went "knot hunting" today on the 4 wheelers and had a great time. I got in a lot of walking too. There were sure a lot of bear tracks out there. I was walking and looking at some prints very intently because it looked like there might have been 2 different bears walking together. One of my dogs was right at my heels when I stopped and I didn't know it. I was really checking one very large track and that dang dog coughed and scared the dickens out of me. I jumped so bad that it scared the dog too. Sally~Sorry to hear that one of your munchkins is sick. I hope that she is feeling better. There is going to be a full moon on Halloween for the first time in 30 some years. We are supposed to be very warm here tomorrow. That combination should make for a lot of mischief. Tobey~It is a law around here to wear orange if you are going to be in the woods during hunting season. We always were orange vests when we ride during the season but we stay out of the woods until deer season is over. We start riding in January although it is still small game season until March. A few years ago a little ten year old boy that was sitting in his grandpa's lap in the woods watching for squirrels was shot in the head by one of those city boys. How in the world could he mistake a little boy's head for an antlered deer? I think that all hunter's should have to pass a sobriety test just like drivers. These good ole boys down here can really put away the liquor while they "hunt". I'm glad your hubby made it home safely. I'm the snorer in this household, I'm told. Marlana~I sure hope that you get to go on that camping trip. Does your husband have any more vacation days that he can take? I know that you were looking forward to going to Tennessee this year and didn't get to go. A really long weekend would be better than nothing. We don't get any trick or treaters here either. Hubby buys the candy that he likes every year and says it's for the kids when he knows that he will eat it all. I'm going to use a plastic bag to float Leon in the new tank for a while tomorrow before I turn him loose. His vase won't fit it the tank because it is not very wide but it is long. I sure hope that he likes it. I was going to put him in it today but we decided to spend the day in the woods. Neither of us hunts anymore either. We both used to hunt years ago before we decided that we would rather raise the animals than kill and eat them. We still know some very generous hunters though that usually give us a piece of venison every year. I sure don't have any problem eating it as long as I don't have to kill it. :D Jen~WTG on losing the 2#. That seems to be our popular number this week. Your post made me hungry for pizza so I fixed my Smart Ones Pizzas for dinner. I had the pepperoni and hubby had the bbq chicken one and we both had a big salad to go with it. Here's my statistics so you don't have to go back and search for them. 182 to begin and 180 yesterday. I just hope that I can keep going and finally get some of this blubber off. JoJo~I love that picture that you attached. I wish that I had thought to save those off that email the other day. They were all so funny. I'm glad that you got started on the physical therapy. It does hurt at first but it sure works most of the time. My husband says that I rattle the windows also when I snore. Beats me though, I don't hear a thing. :) You're right about the smoke alarms, we'll never know if it is the bird or the alarm. Cody was sitting on her cage beeping this afternoon. Maybe in time I will learn because of the timing. That's how we tell if it is really the phone ringing or Cody. She doesn't time it like a real phone so we listen and can tell by the second ring. That's also why we seldom answer the phone on the first ring. I'm going to go watch some stuff that I taped last night. I taped figure skating because I knew that I would fall asleep and I did. It was only a little after 9 too. Y'all have a good evening. |
Oh great day in the Mornin~~Where has my energy gone. I feel like crap this morning, this shift is catching up with me, I am so tired. Going to write this and go back to bed. I am going for a flu shot this morning. I understand some kind of crap is going around here now, my grand kids has been sick.
Sally~~I just explained that I am tired, it's because he went back on overtime and we get up at 3:00 AM. Maybe you lil girl has what is going around here. You get a really sore throat and run a fever for about 48 hours, then your OK. Tobey~~You lucky little girl to have such a thoughtful hubby. Did he expect anything in return?? The scented candles sounds good enough to eat. I have one that is called DoodleMuckers, Oh God when that smell gets in the air I want to eat the candle. I love scented candles, but I forget to light them just for me. I called my dentist yesterday to confirm my appointment and he just throwed his back out and she didn't know if he will be in the office today or not. I have to call at 9 to see. Jen~~Your first week on plan worked out really good. Congrats on the 2 pounds lost last week. Girl I'll take 2 pounds every week. In 10 weeks that is 20 pounds. I'm sick of these leaves already. Can't keep them out of the garage. I'm not touching them until all of them are down. Some trees don't have any left and some trees still have green leaves. The strange thing is they are all pecan trees. But just like people, they are all different. They put on leaves at different times too. The first one to put on leaves is the first one to lose them. You keep up the good work on staying on plan. You don't have that much to lose. Sounds like you cook like me, add those veggie's in everything to make more. Jo Jo~~I don't thank I would ever make it back to a job if I come home for lunch. Fudge...a # 1 offender...I used to make fudge for Christmas but it is very sweet. I can make some good fudge with marshmallow creme. I like peanut brittle better and I know how to make that too. And have you ever had the dessert called "Better than sex" I know how to make that too and I tell you I can't stay out of that. And at my age...it is better than sex. I can stop once at S...but the dessert I go back for more until it's gone. Very east to make too. We have trouble with our leaves getting wet too before they all get down. Skeeter~~ Now let me thank for a min. I'm writing to a woman who hunts knots. How to write to someone like that??? Sounds a little strange to me. Girlfriend someone coming in here reading about hunting knots will be back to see what the **** you was talking about. I know people don't thank that fat people can move, but I bet you proved they can when the dog scared you. Camping fell through the cracks. He has to work on Friday, his boss has some bad medical things going on and has to be off so hubby has to take his place. Want to hear something funny, hubby used to be his boss's boss. Hubby told them after two years to take that job and shove it. I don't like deer meat in any way shape or form. I've got good beef in the freezer. Like Jo Jo yesterday I'm falling over at the puter, I'm going back to bed. Have a good one. |
Good Morning Gals. Just thought that I'd stop in here early before I go to school to wish everyone a SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN!

Happy Halloween! I've finished giving out the candy to the little goblins. Some were pretty cute. There were more kids than I expected, but I usually work on Halloween so I don't know how it compares to other years. Just a few more kids and I would have run out of candy. I hope mom wants it! I hope that the rest of you guys are busy fighting off werewolves, witches, and vampires and keeping your hands out of the candy dish. Ok, I had a couple of pieces, but not bad for me! :o
Tobey- I like your cake. Is that one of the graveyard scenes? Those are cute. It reminds me of a recipe for a "Kitty Litter Cake." Its a crumbled cake complete with tootsie rolls served in a clean (yes clean) litter box and a poop scoop to serve it with. YIKES! Marlana- I hope you found some of your lost energy today. Like you, leaves everywhere. I hope this wind keeps up tonight and gets them the heck out of here. Skeeter- May be a dumb question, but what is knot hunting? I guess I'm too much of a city folk to know what that is. Jojo- WTG on controlling the fudge! If you don't eat any you'll end up binging. It's all about moderation! The nursing shortage here is outrageous. Let me say, I have no fear of a recession. One of the agencies is paying $55 an hour for anywhere in Chicago, plus living expenses (like $1300 a month) and a 6 month completion bonus (like $13000). I could work six months out of the year and probably make more money. But I'm a home body and would hate every minute I was gone. Some things aren't worth money. As far as I can tell, these are the first reports for week 1: Marlana -2 lbs Skeeter -2 lbs Jen -2 lbs Notice a trend? If I missed someone and you want posted just hollar! Happy and healthy, Jen 149.5/147.5/140 |
