My Mammogram: Clear

Last year I found a rather large lump in my left breast. By the time I could schedule a mammogram after visiting my doctor, it was gone. The mammogram showed I had dense breasts, and since it was my first mammogram, I went in six months later for a follow-up. I just had my one-year follow-up mammogram today and it was all clear. I feel so relieved and thankful. I'm still keeping up with my goal to lose some body fat%

And I asked how much a breast weighs and if the mammogram equipment could also serve as a scale while the breast is up there. The tech couldn't tell me how much my breast weighed.

Just wanted to encourage anyone to do self-exams and get an annual mammogram if you're in that age range. If you've never had one, it's not that awful of a procedure.

Hi Michele!

That's GREAT news! Did they ever determine what the lump was? I'm so glad that it disappeared!

As odd as this sounds, I think it was a cyst of built-up fluid. I had just bought a new bra and I don't think that "the girls" were used to it, and they were not breathing. The cyst tripled in size in one week. My doctor had breast cancer herself, so she reassured me that cancer didn't behave that way. She was able to drain fluid from it. Hope that wasn't too much information.

Actually having more fatty tissue in the breast instead of dense breasts makes it easier to read mammograms.
