Slate's "Clean Plate" blog

  • Stumbled onto this over at Slate:

    http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/cle...e/default.aspx

It's a new blog focused on eating well, not dieting. Since it's a blog, you'll need to scroll down and/or go to previous pages to get previous entries.

I think today's entry is particularly interesting, about money being an obstacle for healthy eating. That's been discussed at length here on 3FC, and while there are ways to decrease the expenditure associated with "healthy" food, it does often take a trade-off of time and energy.

The blogger also has some entries on the USDA food pyramid, and discusses her dislike of Greek yogurt.

I thought some of y'all might be interested in it, so check it out if so.
  • Thanks! Enjoyed the read.

  • What an interesting stat, that Americans spend less on food and more on health care than any other nation. We do have a skewed obsession with cheap food in large quantities, without regard for quality of the food or of its source. Sigh...
  • I find healthy food much cheaper than pre processed. It's a great side benefit to putting the time into preparing it myself.
  • This is a great blog! It's nice to remember that food is GOOD. And I love her quick meal ideas -- I am going to have to buy some apple butter, mmm.
