I found this article on the comparison of the effects of glucose and fructose interesting. Note that this is a small study (23 people) of already overweight or obese individuals, ages 43-70, i.e. not necessarily representative of the population in general, and that the results were presented at a scientific conference and currently underway, and not (yet) appeared in a peer-reviewed journal. None of this is especially bad, but still preliminary.
